Not quite 1 second, but I did see some improvement! With OBS' normal NVENC implementation and StreamFX at a keyframe interval of 2, I had around 4 seconds of latency to twitch (according to the stats tab). With keyframe interval of 1.5 on StreamFX, the stats tab said I had 1.09 seconds of latency, though the actual amount (measuring a timer hitting 0 in my game vs hitting 0 on stream) was just under 3 seconds, but it sure as hell felt a good bit better than before which would be around 4s on the same test - it should also be considered that I'm lucky enough to be on pretty good fiber internet

As addressed in the video and the original blog post, it has no effect on latency. Zero-Latency is primarily aimed at reducing decoding latency, but GPUs these days can decode H264 at 1000 fps or more, so it became a pointless option for anything but Blu-Ray discs.

Please can you cover latency on KZbin at the different resolutions :)
@deivedux93423 жыл бұрын
All I know is that KZbin *always* provides quality options for streams, due to them already applying compression on uploaded videos since the beginning. The higher resolution and/or FPS you stream at, the more difficult it is for KZbin to keep up with the compression, not only because of high resolution, but because of the number of transcodes it has to do at the same time. See my latest video, for instance (puu.sh/HC1oK/5efa91591a.png) or, even better, this very video (puu.sh/HC1wX/fac9a24a08.png). Because of that, the higher your resolution of choice, the less chance you have for KZbin even allowing you to stream at low latencies, because it knows that it will not be able to keep up with so many transcodes fast enough.

So something I noticed with your settings, in comparison to my own. First is the encoder, it shows as H.264/AVC Nvidia NVENC, yet in OBS Studio it shows as Nvidia NVENC H.264/AVC (via FFMPEG) for my setup . The second, and I'm guessing this is tied to the first difference, is the B-Frame Reference Mode, it shows as 'Use only middle B-Frames as reference'. So I think it's because of the FFMPEG. Other then that, the setup looks spot on. My question is this, will this difference really affect things overall, or is it in my best interest to remove the FFMPEG driver from OBS Studio. Great video as always and thanks for the concise information.
@EposVox3 жыл бұрын
Yours might look slightly different because I’m on an older version of StreamFX. There’s no such thing as a “FFMPEG Driver” and you can’t remove FFMPEG from OBS. Just slightly different UI labeling for the different versions of the StreamFX Plugin

So looking at my test stream account, when viewing the video from another PC, I see 1.05s of a broadcast latency with my normal CPU encoding settings on a 5900X. However, I see around 4 seconds of effective delay which is not too bad. I tried your suggested 1 and keyint=90 (I stream 60fps). I didn't notice much of a difference, still around a 4 second effective delay. Perhaps I can still leave this keyframe setting here and test it out in my stream? At least it'd make the only potential bottleneck my router and upstream connection to Twitch and not my own settings xD I did not test out/change my ingest server location and I was running some decent networking stuff at the time, perhaps the one that I'm using just happens to have a slower connection for me.
