Atsushi has just passed away- he was mid performance and had to be rushed to the hospital and did not make it. Every performance of Misshitsu was so unique every time, as were a lot of BT songs, but there was just something so special about Misshitsu that pulls you down into this world of, what I always though, a kidnapper that really snatched you up. Thank you for giving Atsushi and BT your time. I hope he is able to see all the good things everyone has ever said about him now. 🖤

As someone else said, this is the first time I see a VC react to BT. As a big fan of the band, I honestly appreciated your comments on how Sakurai interprets the song - you're right, you can feel and understand the frustration he expresses without knowing the language, which is one of my favourite things about Buck-Tick Thank you for this, I'll make sure to watch your other videos :)

What's funny is that he started as the band's drummer when they were still in high school, but after their first singer left the group he stayed in his room practicing singing, and watching singers like David Bowie and became the singer. The bassist's brother joined the band as the new drummer.

Wow, how could I miss this reaction. I was Buck-Tick fan since teen even before I became Dir en grey fan. Kyo once said that Sakurai-san was one of the musicians who inspired him in his teen years. Dir en grey did a cover for Buck-Tick and if I am not mistaken were guest band on one of the Buck-Tick anniversaries. I love Sakurai-san's voice for not being too much vibrato like others "classical" Japanese voices. I'd say that Buck-Tick and X-Japan was the ones who "invented" current Japanese rock music. They started visual key genre, they inspired A LOT (if not all) next generation Japanese bands. Including Dir en grey, yeah. And when X-Japan are worldwide famous band and successful separate musicians, Buck-Tick decided that Japan is enough for them. They as big as X-Japan or Dir en grey in Japan, but worldwide they highly underrated.

I just love how you pick up on so much during a first listen! You are spot on with the different styles in music that are also dances. They actually play quite a lot with that. I would even describe their music as 'interlectual' in a weird way because with some of their songs they pick up on different periods and genres in music, art and literature and follow a similar writing style [one example would be the song DA DA Disco which is a tribute to Dadaism]. They are quite influenced by the British Pop/Rock of the 70s and 80s but manage to sound incredibly fresh with every release. Like sayu said, they have been around since 1987 [they actually formed in 1983 but started out as a THE STALIN cover band], never had a line-up change [after 1985], have never been on hiatus [except onces for like half a year in 1989] and have been producing themselves from the very beginning :) Sakurai Atsushi is one of my favorite singers alongside Kyo. I'm still waiting for a collaboration! [Dir en grey officially covered a BUCK-TICK song last yea,r though which turned out soo brilliantly! And I think Atsushi-san would sound amazig on a sukekiyo song so I hope that's going to happen one day ^.~] Thank you so much for taking the time, not only to stream but to upload here on KZbin as well! I would have totally missed this one.

so cool to see a buck tick reaction this guy is literally on another plane.. its not his power, which he has, its not his range which is so good, especially on the low register. its not even his looks its his tone the simple unique sound of his vioce it sounds like no one else and its like pouring a vintange wine into a glass. stunning vocalist and only gets better every year.

One of my favorite Buck Tick songs. I am just amazed by Sakurai''s voice. I have listened to two live versions of this song, and while different, they both are so good. Definite credit to his being able to interpret the same tune in multiple ways.

Yep, that's why I like Atsushi Sakurai. I just recently knew about him but I am now hooked. Not much singers have his talent. And tbh, I never knew I could like Jrock until I heard 'Dress' and 'Speed'. Other jrock and jpop singers are either relying on props or instruments.

Thx for putting this one on YT charlie ^^ This is definetly my favourite live recording of misshitsu just peak emotiveness, I can listen to his voice for days on end. It is really Atsushis voice that lured me into Buck-Tick in the first place. I gradually fell for them. There's just sth about the mans voice... I'm excited to see what you'll think of mudai when it gets to the front of the queue.^^ lg Marie PS: Still wishing for them to come play M'era Luna in the future PPS: love the pic of Acchan you chose for the thumbnail^^

I'm 2 years later to this, this is my favourite song from them, breaks my heart but not to the point when I can not listen to it lol. Talking about the influences and how these combinations work, I mean they have a very long career so they've tried pretty much everything (This song is from the 95' tho), some more metal music, some even latin influences, pop, electronic presence is also very powerful as Imai (Guitar-Composer) really likes synth and post-punk and then even things that makes no sense in theory like ICONOCLASM but work beautifully. Edit: I do believe Sakurai's natural voice is beautiful since birth but has definitely improved with the passage of time and probably even has or had a coach at some point, I know he smoked quite a bit (seems to have stopped now), I mention this because at the end you can hear his voice more "untechnical" but it could also be part of the performance in this song which is a seemingly "tragic" love song

@@Sayu277 There's better examples, honestly even Mudai can depending on which live you're watching. Love Parade could too actually but again in Mudai's case it depends very much on WHICH live you watch since some aren't as emotive others are more so.

I love Buck Tick's selections. Sakurai's quivering voice. I highly recommend you to give it a listen to their selection: *Miu* Now, I don't want to sound stupid, which probably I do, 🙃 but I have asked this before and no one answered my question, nor I found it, when I searched it. Can you please tell me way of singing is the one Sakurai San uses? He always sounds as if his voice is quivering, but when he talks he sounds perfect, 🤔 I would even say, he is a total dork. I know, it may sound disrespectful, but I say this after seen him the was he acts during interviews. Thanks very much for your reaction. 😊
@Sayu2773 жыл бұрын
well the quivering does fit the lyrics when he does it. Or is it the vibrato you're talking about (which japanese singers in general do tend to use a lot of) He is a total dork...^^

I think this is how HE does the vibrato. If others do it and i happen to feel a little annoyed, his way never bugged me. He is unique.

This is not as experimental as you make it out to be. It's a blend of dark wave leaning post-punk and goth similar to the likes of The Cure and Bauhaus. Reggae has always been at the roots of punk. I suspect that this band has been around for a while and transformed their style a bit to keep it fresh.
