Hey, thanks for the reaction as always. If you’ve never looked into the lyrics of the song I highly encourage you to. I believe Maynard’s movements in this performance are kinda meant to mimic the tremors that often accompany withdrawal symptoms, but also kinda representative of the crippling nature of substance abuse on someone’s body and mind. I may be wrong, but I heard somewhere that this song is about a friend of the band that could only be creatively active while under the influence of substances. It’s a very interesting song.

I think people, even those who call themselves fans of TOOL and/or Maynard, misunderstand his embodiment of the music as performance-art for the sake of the lyrics. It's just Maynard giving himself to the music. It's not like on the next song he was like, "Oh, we're doing Prison Sex, I better get on all fours!" Or, "Crap, next song is Undertow, I need to embody someone being pulled under by whatever I'm singing about!"

My impressions about are: Maynard point of View at begin seem far away, no focus. After calm down, instrumental feels, I think he look forward AND finally look/watch crowd on a desperate try to be understood, share his feelings.
