TWITCHING the RIVER to see a RARE BITTERN

Those Curlews are sutch strange, bjt cute looking birds. How great to see a Sea Eagle. Some great birds and wildlife along the river cruise. That Bittern is quite a strange looking bird. Green legged! Well captured Nimal and Karen. Great little adventure. 👍🏼🤠🙏🏼♥

I think other people came up with twitchographer before I did.I am not a twitcher that writes down my list but I keep one in my head. Twitching can be dangerous if you go by Anne Cleeves murder mystery about twitchers in England.@@naturephotographychallenge

Actually this was kind of our official start! (since the previous video was a bit of a fizzer). From this point (and for the other videos) we base ourselves in Mallacoota. Next video is another boat trip for Nimal over to the very remote Howe Flat! That video is going to be a doozy! I'm looking forward to starting that one soon ~ Karen

Great adventure. And a fabulous unexpected find! Twice! I visited that creek near Eden just before but at high tide so missed out on those Beach Sone-curlews. Gripped. 😎

What an adventure spotting such a rare bird in East Gippy. A few weeks ago a Beach-stone Curlew was actually photographed at Bastion Point Boat Ramp in Mallacoota - however prior to the floods that just went through. I have never seen one and when I was there a couple of weeks back sadly I could not find it, no doubt moved on. Was that a photographic club that was on the boat trip at Gipsy Point ? or just a group of birders lol ? Nimal sure was not ' thrilled ' about the fishing boat coming between them and the bird ... thank goodness it was not spooked away. Looking forward to part 2.

We hoped that we would see a Beach Stone-curlew in Victoria... but oh well. Great to know they did jump the border for a little while 😀 The group on the boat trip were all the birders who were booked on the cancelled Eden pelagic. Everyone stayed around Mallacoota after travelling down from Eden. It was a great opportunity to group together & go birding (the next episode will be another boat trip organised by the same group of people to Howe Flat to find the rare Eastern Bristlebird).

There's a Beach Stone-curlew at Merimbula Lake too. Park at Spencer Park and walk towards Bar Beach on low tide 👍
