Awesome restorations, Scout!! I knew that if there was one person who could return the wrenches to their former glory, it would be you. Really amazing, but not surprising coming from you. Thank you too for spending time teaching the art of moving/returning deformed metal with a ball peen hammer. It's a skill that deserves learning as many people would otherwise quickly turn to a file to remove the metal rather than conserving it by moving it back into place. I learned it from my dad as a boy and use it often to reshape buggered up screw heads on the antique guns we restore. And thanks again for making my day and that of many others with those wrenches. Look forward to seeing you again at the next Jacktown show.

I have been watching your videos for a while, and will 👍a video every so often, but I really owe you a comment and a Thank You. Putting out three shows a week, must be a lot of time and energy. Don't want to take it for granted and the thanks is long overdue. I've used your tips in doing some restorations myself and never thought I would be the guy digging through the back of antique and second hand stores scouring for old tools! Keep an eye out for my screwdriver build.

The wrench and multi-tool look terrific. The bluing looks good and fits with the age of the tools. The wrench was likely hand forged. A LOT of work and skill to make that wrench. Dave.

Thanks John, this was really instructive advice for new restorers, I always now do this, following your advice moving the metal by hammer before filing or sanding the surface back to shape ! Loving he WB reference - Meep meep ! That twisted wrench came out great just from the wire wheel - transformed in appearance just from removing the rust ! The Multi-tool reminds me of the Visegrip 10LW you recommended a while back, it was in my Wishlist for ages, then came up reduced recently so I pounced - thanks !

It made me smile when you talked about farmers and tools. Like the saying goes, "Tractors never break in the barn." Lots of tools spent their lives in the tool box mounted on the tractor and worked hard. In the middle of the field, one tool might be a pry bar, screwdriver, chisel hammer or pseudo jump wire. Don't ask how I know.

My grand father had cresant wrench hammer pair of pliers screw driver and bailing wire .
@OldSneelock7 ай бұрын
@@larrymills8527 I have repaired many farm implements. Baling wire was the Epoxy of the 19th Century. It took the place of missing cotter pins. It held cultivator handles in place when the ratchet adjuster wore out. It took the place of safety wire to hold loose fasteners long enough to finish the field. A lot of people skip the hammer and just use the adjustable wrench. Slip joint pliers were the nut rounders of their day.

Hi John, spectacular video as 18:09 always.I had bad feelings about my sump pump yesterday.So my wife and I went into the basement to check it out.Sure enough it was not working.The battery back up was.I had to get the PVC valve in the exit pipe to work.So, I got one of my real old "Monkey wrenches" to have som leverage on the valve to close it.Everything going good with some WD 40.Next thing I know my wrench flew off and ended up in the bottom of the sump pump well.Put my hand down into the freezing water to no avail.This story will have to continue at a later date.
