Two 1962 Chevrolet Chevy Corvette Convertible s & Engine Start Up on My Car Story with Lou Costabile

On "My Car Story" we're in the Suburbs of Chicago on 8-13-16.
We're looking at a Two 1962 Chevrolet Chevy Corvette Convertibles, one in Tuxedo Black Paint with a Black Convertible Top, and one in Roman Red Paint and a White Convertible Top.
The car's Owner is Roger Macnider. Roger had purchased the first 1962 Corvette in 1974 and he brought the car to a car show. One of the Judges asked him, “Do you drive the car daily” and Roger shares “that broke my heart”, so he realized he might have to get another one for the Corvette shows, so the Red one was purchased in in 1976, and has won the “ Bloomington Gold “ & National Corvette Restorers Society ( NCRS ) “ Top Flight “ awards.
The end result, Roger shares he has 2 because, “One is for Show, and One is for Go”.

Hey Lou at first I thought you had our 62. We have a Honduras Maroon 340 h.p. but what really caught my eye is the antique plates on your red one. Ours is il. 62 VETT av. We live in southern Il. Vette came with every possible comfort option, power top, power windows, radio, both tops etc. Nice cars you have.

Ha in 63 I got a 55 bel air from the motorrama display floor, red with a white roof. Good memories, drove it to Redford HS till I went in the service in 64.

OK, I understand the black one has a replacement engine, but why the heck did the judges make it seem like it is in lesser condition like a "daily driver"....It seems ever bit as beautiful as the red one. Very cool indeed.

That's true it does look as good as the red one, and also a reason why I'm not a fan of "judging" cars. An "original" car is excellent condition will be judged higher then a car with unoriginal parts in excellent condition, and here is a perfect example of that principal applied in this case here. Lou

So you have some suitcases in the trunk, go around a few curves and across some Railroad tracks, and boom! --No tail lights! Scary!!! How come there are no tail lamp protection covers for just such a location-- the trunk. Kinda think there musta been some from the factory... I mean they make such a nice looking car only to not take care of that area of concern for the buyer?!
