I only found the first couple seasons good to be quite honest. At least up until about season 5. Season 9 was TaaHM at its worst because of having to retool everything, but the last couple seasons that still had Charlie around were terrible. I started noticing the decline somewhere around the time Chelsea was introduced, and it just seemed like Charlie stopped trying. Plus, Jake was dumbed down WAY too much by that point.

Looking back, I realize one thing: Chuck Lorre never separated Charlie Sheen and Charlie Harper. That's why when Charlie behaved, he wrote the character as a lovable uncle with a heart of gold. In season 8, we saw Charlie's character change into a pathetic doofus as Lorre was getting pissed off. In here, he's a drug-addled maniac, because that's the way Lorre pictured him. Also, anyone else think it would've been way funnier if the stunt double had been Lorre himself?

That entire finale was nothing more than an infantile bashing of Charlie Sheen for something that happened years ago. Charlie has done some questionable things no doubt, but after this finale it seems like Mr. Lorre is still butthurt a lot. What a douche. After the "How I Met Your Mother" finale, I thought it couldn't get a lot worse but this was just plain embarassing. Truly the worst series finale of all time to a comedy series that was once one of the very best. Chuck Lorre just gave us all the middle finger!
@SplinterX199010 жыл бұрын
***** That's up for debate but the entire last season was about Robin and Barney and their wedding and then in the final episode boom - divorce. In my opinion that made the entire last season pointless except for Ted meeting the mother but then again she died in the final episode so yeah that season was pretty much pointless. Also I didn't like what they did with Barney. After the divorce his entire character progress was thrown out of the window. Then he gets a baby from some woman we never even get to see. I know Robin and Ted ending up together was planned from the beginning but if you ask me, the series developed in a different direction over time so in the end it seemed unfitting. But that's just my opinion.

I'm gonna be completely honest now. I didn't give the show a chance after Charlie left. I thought that, no Charlie=No show. But then, for some reason, I decided to give it a shot as the show approached its final episode. So I started out on season 9, and kept watching, and even though it felt like a very different show, it wasn't bad. I enjoyed the seasons after Charlie left. They weren't bad, they were just different, and Ashton did a good job. I actually liked the seasons, something I didn't think I would. HOWEVER! This final episode was the worst, f*cking thing I've ever seen. So much hype built up, both with commercials and interviews beforehand, and during the episode. It wasn't just a middlefinger to Charlie himself, it was a middlefinger to all of his fans who watched it and just waited for him to make a return, and we didn't even get to see his face. Not only that, but the show didn't even end properly. I was expecting a proper goodbye with Walden, Alan, Berta and Jake. I was expecting Alan to finally move out and take a goodbye, I was expecting a reunion with Charlie and Alan. It felt like a completely open and pointless ending to a good show...

That's how they ended it? Well, that was terrible. I liked it with Charlie, but after he left, I only saw the first episode with Ashton Kutcher & thought it sucked. After watching this... it looks like I really didn't miss much. I feel that was very disrespectful and a huge slap in the face

This was so fucking bad. I cannot believe that Charlie Sheen didn't make a cameo, but I don't blame him. I know why he didn't, it was because he didn't like what Chuck had in mind, but if he had, it would've redeemed these past few lackluster seasons. They build up all this suspense, saying Charlie is alive, then they have the nerve to use some stupid double and have the character killed anyway. Ridiculous. Fuck Chuck Lorre and fuck Hollywood. #Losing

When I was a little kid, I liked this show soooo much! We watched it with my parents when it was on TV. But when Sheen got kicked out,even my 7 year old ass knew the show was not the same without him and we stopped watching it. When zhe final episode aired we was like "okay, since this is the last,let's see"..... Well,we was just sitting there feeling super uncomfortable and embarassed. When even a young kid can tell your show went real bad,you know something is wrong.

JUST SO EVERYONE KNOWS I DID NOT WRITE THIS! But I teared up reading it so I'm gonna post in here. Mr Chuck Lorre, Hang your head in shame. After writing such a wonderful show, for so many years, you had one last obligation, a final duty of care to the shows wonderful fans, to facilitate a befitting end to an iconic comedy series. Instead you used the finale for purely self serving reasons. No matter what personal issues you shared with Charlie Sheen, it had to be put to one side, because they were not even 1% as important as closing the show properly. You said and I quote: '”I think we’re going to have a finale you’re going to be very pleased with. "It would be inappropriate to not acknowledge the extraordinary success we had with Charlie and how grateful I am, we all are, to his contributions. And there’s nothing but great feelings for the eight-and-a-half years we worked together. How to honor both (eras of the show) is the challenge of this finale. And the other challenge is how to get people to watch it without telling them what it is.” I’m very proud of what we did here with Charlie, I’m very proud of those shows,” Lorre said. “I watch some of those shows and I’m so proud - because you forget, it was a long time ago … [and] to end the show appropriately you literally have to end two incarnations of Two and a Half Men and bring together a lot of threads. I didn’t want to end it without acknowledging the past" You lied Chuck. You f'n lied bad. For one hour, possibly the most important hour of the shows life, you proceeded to rip Charlie to pieces, with petty, bitter and desperate jibes. That's a real odd way to 'acknowledge the extraordinary success you had with Charlie and how grateful you are' You then saw fit to close the show with a note to the fans, stating that you asked Charlie to come back but he didn't want to, under your terms, so instead you offer up tales of him having sex with goats, and then in the final scene proceed to drop a piano on a Charlie look alike. What happened to honouring his era? Even without reaching agreement with Charlie Sheen, you could have still done so, but off course that was never really going to happen was it Chuck. Because you lied. You lied for ratings. You never wanted too. If you wanted to, you could have. Your the writer. What a petty, bitter man. Instead You had one chance Chuck. It was all on you. You had the power to make millions of people happy, fans of both eras of the show. To keep to your word. To sign the show off in a befitting and respectful manner. You fell short, by a Malibu ocean. To say you failed is an understatement. You served up a car crash, and you limped out of it looking like a real small man. Instead this will likely go down as the worst finale in TV history. But hey, as long as your ego's in tact huh. Gary P.S you should have learnt after series 8.... No Charlie, no party. #Winning.
@v2500music9 жыл бұрын
No one of you understand this ending? He sais he's winning because Charlie and him argued, and he fired Charlie, but then another piano falls because he lost, too, firing Charlie.
@seoul082 жыл бұрын
Everyone understands it, it’s just that it’s petty and childish.
@dexterdawson932110 жыл бұрын
And the Two and a Half Men became a sort of cartoon show for kids where pianos fall out of the sky on people in the most ridiculous way possible. I don't blame Charlie Sheen for not wanting to come back for this shit. I mean, really, imagine being an actor and some director tells you he wants you to do some crazy things and then have a piano fall on you as if you're Bugs Bunny or something? Absolutely ridiculous. What's worse, I know there are stupid fans out there who will consider this ending great. Chuck Lorre has proven himself as a hack and nothing more than a childish, juvenile director. I feel sorry for the people who still watch The Big Bang Theory as Chuck's biggest work which I think it's Two and a Half Men got this treatment, then think what would TBBT would get? Let's not even talk about how TBBT makes fun at geeks rather than laughing with geeks.
@3ku110 жыл бұрын
For the record Chuck has nothing to do with Big Bang. Steve Moloro took over as head writer a few years ago. And the cast still get on, and its a healthy working environment. Thats the difference, Big Bang is fine have you seen the ratings? lol. It has 17 mill last week, the final of Taahm had 13...
@kanechitty82119 жыл бұрын
Really? Laughing at geeks rather than with them? Your really pulling this out of your ass now aren't you? First off its a comedy they're not making fun of anyone and if they ARE making fun of anyone its non-comic fans or geeks as your douche self would say it, because most of the jokes on the show non-comic or SciFi fans won't get. I've been reading comics for 10 years, I watch Star Trek and I love 80s SciFi movies(B2TFuture, Ghostbusters etc) and love science and all they're jokes AND cameo stars(such as Stan the Man Lee) have been great. What I'm guessing is you like none of the things I've listed and you just read online blogs ABOUT TBBT instead of watching it.
@thatontariofarmer6 жыл бұрын
Chuck was an asshole. Charlie sheen was willing to come back if they could do a nice ending with him reconciling with Alan, and starting another series called “the harpers”. Chuck opted for the piano instead.

And to make matters worse, they’ve since reconciled and became friends again, making this whole fiasco completely pointless. Seriously, Charlie Sheen has a recurring role on Chuck Lorre’s HBO show Bookie. Chuck may as well had let him stay on Two and a Half Men for that matter.

I understand completely why this ending pissed off people who like the show and from that perspective it's awful for those people and the characters they loved, but from an outsider's perspective to see a grudge play out in such a petty, public, and expensive way at the cost of a once successful show and that show's own audience, it's a fascinating bit of dark meta-comedy.
