Any tips on keeping your opponent down during the transition? I have trouble when they quickly posture

I have problems with people posturing up before I can set the foot. I loose the overhook that sets the gogoplata and have to recover guard.

Congratz coach Tom. Loved the position! gonna try it today! I do not understand why you had just a thousand views in this video. I believe you´re one of the first to aproach this kind of subject! Also nice to know that your wife also practice bjj. I´m looking for my bjj (and heart) partner. LoL. I live in Curitiba and almost a blue belt! Where exactly is your academy? Maybe one day I can get some tips in real life! Regards!

Awesome stuff! Glad you love the video. I hope to share the mats with you some day either here in Australia or during my twice yearly worldly travels! (-: Coach Tom Davey

Dear coach, I am flexible, short and muscular/strong, best positions I can maintain and hold are side and full mount. Please tell me exactly what submissions I need to focus on working for an upcoming mma match (consider pounding is allowed on ground), I have 18 days left btw. (ankle locks are banned) My opponent (wrestling background) almost always goes for takedowns and pounding on ground, Would it be better to break her posture or get a hold of her arm when she is punching for a triangle or an armbar?

Depending on your skillset and experience, you will want to control her posture on the ground to prevent strikes and set up your sweeps and submissions. Without knowing you, your opponent and having a proper coaching relationship with you, its hard to advise further. Good luck in your training! (-: Coach Tom Davey
