As a lanky grappler, I can't thank you enough. Keep those videos coming coach!

Great video. I'm 6'4 as well, considering starting jiu jitsu. I'm happy to see there are benefits having long limbs.

I am a lanky purple belt, 1m87 75kg and recently i was doing a lot of Ezekiel Choke because i dont know it seems so easy to do for me, from mount, back, side control so i am glad to see that it is really a technique used for lanky players, its a great technique, i will definitely see the darce Choke

Are there more body type lessons in the Box Set? I would love this repeated (without the grinder noise and cut-out of sound) so I can watch over and over!

Coach Tom I don't mean to be an asshole but this new editing is a bit much sometimes. Just let the video run, don't cut the sound and make me read and look at the moves at the same time, the slow-mo is a bit much as well, less is more in my opinion! You have great content, no need to get quirky! Sorry I don't want to ruin your editors day, I mean this in most constructive way possible!
@gedforrest25475 жыл бұрын
I agree with this guy; the written tips on-screen are useful as a "summary" at the end of a move, but generally Tom's verbal explanation is excellent anyway so it's not really needed *during* the move

Thanks for the feedback. This video unfortunately was hijacked by noisy commercial neighbours and was going to be discarded so we had to make lots of edits to make it watchable. It wasn't intentional! (-: Professor Tom Davey

Hi coach, i have an interesting question about a 3rd tehnique. First of all i am a lanky grappler and Darce and triangle are my absolute favourites with very good succes in competition. Actually your Darce videos really helped me. Now about a question about a 3rd tehnique. How do you prevent your opponent to unlock your choke/lock in no gi since he has both of his arms free? Thanks

Long legs are good for triangles but triangles are high risk - opponent is going to stack and pass. Also it's hard to actually choke people with skinny legs.
@christopherpakney85424 ай бұрын
It's not just a triangle...The trick is to have a combo sequence, Triangle to Omo to Arm Bar. The counter to one usually opens the entry for the next. At 6'6" 205 this is effective for me as I am almost always the taller player. Several times people have commented how frustrating my long legs were, especially being flexible.

Cool video. But maybe wait for the outside noise to stop before you record the final version next time. It’s not very didactic having to mute the explanation.
@BushRat2535 жыл бұрын
How about the opposite? I’ve got short, thick limbs. Locking up a triangle is nearly impossible for me (yes, yes it’s all about angles 😜).

There's a great channel called chewjitsu, he's great and a more stocky shorter limbed guy, he's got a large whitebelt playlist some are aimed for your body type 😊.

So many skinny, lanky guys. So many tips that work for lanky students. How about tips for stubby short thick guys? Haha. I just saw your darce choke video and you said it's good for any body type, but really good for lanky guys. The darce is really hard to do for stubby thick short guys.
