People are annoyed because at the beginning of the Lp he said he had beaten 7 times I believe, a number that should mean you know your complete way around this game(treasures,items,enemies,etc) However, he has gotten killed by stuff that shouldn't have killed him and misses important items but rather than saying later that perhaps he isn't as good as he says he is, he still carries this sense of arrogance towards it which I find funny. Even still, people are getting a little too worked up about it, as lets be honest without the screw ups it wouldn't be as entertaining.

as annoyed as so many people are towards the complaints in the comments, i feel they're (almost) justified. Pat claims to be a master of the game, since he has supposedly beaten it 7 times. on top of that, he acts cocky, despite constant fuck ups. that alone makes his mistakes worthy of some criticism, in my book. this issue also explains the anger a lot of people get when watching the series in that the game is so well-known and beloved by so many. when someone claims to be a master at a game a lot of people love, those people are gonna get pissed when the supposed expert fucks up, which is totally fair. nevertheless, he's trying to keep it entertaining with matt, so he's clearly distracted. a solo playthrough with no commentary would go FAR better, surely, even if he doesn't know a lot of the secrets the commenters do. so, even if he does fuck up a lot, he'll know it soon enough, so not everyone needs to point out every mistake, no matter how fun it might be. just update the wiki accordingly, and enjoy pat's well-intended failures. as annoying as his mistakes may be, this playthrough is the best the TBFs have done in a very long time, so give them some credit where it's due.

As much as pat fucks up, misses treasures and states notfacts, this is my favourite playthrough this channel has ever done, Pat isn't even that bad, hes pretty good, maybe only not "beaten it 7 times" good, sure watching the video it feels like you can easily get out of the situation but I'd probably fuck up in other ways, and Pat has already mentioned talking is hard. I dunno if it has been mentioned, but the part at the Novistador nest where Pat mentions the wrap-around path that you can't get to because it's "way up there" can be accessed by jumping out one of the broken windows in the hallway immediately before that room. I can't fully remember, but I'm pretty sure you find a second butterfly lamp on that path, so all those extra eyes become useful.

Pat, don't feel bad about the people criticising you. Your playthrough actually makes mine look dumb over the way I played this. I did so many things the hard way when there were (obvious in retrospective) tricks that made it so much easier. In the armour battle, I had Ashley with me and I didn't know that you could shoot their helmets off. Instead I had to kill them with sheer body damage. Ashley died a couple of times there. I also didn't know you could break the chains of the flame throwers in the lava room. For me, beating it involved attacking the operators from odd angles. I didn't know you could shoot or knife the locks off, because when you approached a door it gave you the "kick" prompt, so I thought that's what you were supposed to do. Needless to say that made the second Gigante and Garrador cage match much harder. Ironically, I never realized there was a prompt for slashing Gigante's parasite, since I always kept my distance while attacking it AND I didn't have the TMP (another couple of dead Ashleys in that point too, a headless Leon in the other one). And if that wasn't enough, I had never noticed the parasite in Garrador's back until you had to fight two of them, so I also had to beat the first two with body damage.

Yup, people take these things way too seriously o_O He's only human after all. Most of the issues people seem to have is with him not knowing all the secrets... Most of it probably only gets him treasure that he probably doesn't really need or care about. I doubt he's seriously played this game in ages and with all the other stuff he's played and secrets learned, I don't blame him for forgetting, if he even knew in the first place. He has some stupid deaths maybe, but he's also distracted by Mat and trying to say interesting stuff at the same time so would clearly be distracted... Remember the window in the Novistador hive room that you really wanted to get to? Right before you enter the hive room, you can climb out one of the windows to reach a ledge outside, which takes you up to that window. You get treasure, too.
