I love the analysis, lol need to watch it again. I love the larger river bet size for 2 reasons leaving the math out of it for sec, esp at a small live table. 1. the larger bet smells like a bluff and may get called enough with top pair, I believe not showing down keeps your hole cards a mystery and that has some value as far as table image.

I appreciate your videos. Do you ever raise pre-flop with 9/7?

Cheers Byron! And yup, usually from LP and sometimes as a 3-betting hand...

I'm only at 4:08 so far, but your check back on the turn not only might induce him to bluff the river, but also sets up YOUR river "bluff" that'll get called often. I'm predicting a 1.2x bet on the river that gets called - nice pot! (Hope I'm right!)

That's a pretty good guess Geoff!

What's your play if you get raised on the river here? I kinda disagree in the larger bet size, how does he ever call with sets /2p here with a 75 bet, can't you bet like 25 and just get called way more often

I didn't think he ever bluff XRs the river there. And now you know how to do the math, plugin your assumptions and see how the EVs compare 😁

Thanks for your videos, James. I am confused about the term "Regs". Especially when it comes to predicting how one will bet (or not). I think of regs and regulars. Some regs are GTO savvy, some are not. Some regs and exploitive and TAG% to LAG% are balanced, others are not. Some know about the math, some don't. So is a reg someone that plays regularly at the same card club, or is it someone that does not know math and GTO. Like on a scale from 1 - 10, fish to pro, where is the range of the reg?

Something I have been rolling around in my head for a while...considering that there are people who will call any bet of any size no matter what the condition of the board and there hold cards are you ever truly overlooking an opportunity to bet and is there actually such a thing as improper bet sizing?
@ThePokerBank2 жыл бұрын
If by "improper" you mean "suboptimal" - then yes
@gavinshickle18142 жыл бұрын
@@ThePokerBank thank you for the reply. that is not what i meant but would you be willing to elaborate on your answer? i'm not quite sure how you are using the term suboptimal. It would help to understand where you are coming from.

Why no consideration to making it 30 preflop? Do you think you're going to get threebet? More than likley you fold out the limpers for that price or get 1 to the flop heads up OOP. Both great scenarios. Not saying this was bad, you def have more reads than I do. And I dont think even in a vaccume that you played the hand bad. Im just surprised the raise wasnt even mentioned as I think the majority of low stakes regs would make it.

This is where several low-stakes vloggers are losing value. They bet turn and river for 50% or less nearly 100% of the time when they value bet because they want to get that call.
@ThePokerBank2 жыл бұрын
Yup. It can be too face-up against thinking players and miss too much value vs. weaker players

I don’t agree, straights are great for betting big turn and rivers because there a lot of hands that a fun player will call no matter what: any two pairs, top pair, set, trips if it posible. The thing with this one card straight is that two pair will call but probably will not bet. Only maniacs will bluff this board and he has to bet really big to get the bluff trough
@ThePokerBank2 жыл бұрын

@@ThePokerBank I still think is better to bet pot turn and 3/4 pot river. You won more this way because if he has something good he is not folding the turn. And by the river he won’t fold because river card doesn’t change anything
@DemonetisedZone2 жыл бұрын
Oh for sure, higher the better against really weak players when you're near to the nuts😏 Also, people get tired and only see their own hand getting hit and forget something really basic like flush draw or whatever Thats a rule i have... Dont play once i get tired❌ Dont play for fun whilst having a drink❌
