I remember after getting married in 81 my wife and I lived in Liberty and would walk those tracks back before they patrolled em and enjoyed picking up all kinds of odd and ends. Kinda what we did for fun back when we were broke and didn’t have the cash for other things. It was always kinda cool and loved the constant traffic. I guess it’s in my blood since I grew up in Chicago and hung out as a kid on the tracks of the CNW commuter trains in the late 60s and early 70s. I could watch trains for hours and never get bored.

All I can say is enjoy every moment you can watching trains. After the entire world went into lockdown with people behind doors and in their home, certain people went shopping in our country. They our rail system to the bone. Train stations were stripped of all metals and copper cables. Overhead electric cables were stolen. We have nothing left and for two and half year and counting, not a single train to see. I can go around in my area and take photos and share it and show you what was once a vibrant busy station only to have a few concrete wall left. Please pray that we can stand up after this. Please enjoy going out to watch trains go by and keep posting.

I was recently on the EB Southwest Chief on Chicago's "race track." I opened the window downstairs as the train hit the 79 mph speed limit (train attendant not around). I started to poke my head out to look ahead when a Metra train blew past. It was like a minor explosion (implosion?) as it pushed me back, then kind of sucked me toward the window. Kind of scary; I closed the window.

But, what is a drone? Do you mean a Quadcopter? How the fck does the word 'drone' become a name? You 'spikka da inglisha', yes or no? Where the fck did you get the idea that model Quadcopter are called drone, from other ignorant, low IQ illiterates who picked it up from other dunces who have no fkn idea what 'drone' is or means? It has to be, one stooge copies the others, in other words, one sheep follows the other sheep, right? When you're not sure what a quad rotor is, don't say it. First of all, it's no such name. It's a word used in sentences and conversations to describe a continuous humming sound. It cannot be a name or used to name anything because the word has present/past participles and a number of definitions. The rest is up to you to learn the correct English language unless you want to remain an ignorant, poorly educated dunce.

I love trains and I have a BNSF shelf train around my office wall, but I've been very saddened by the sight I have been seeing this last couple week of all the containers being robbed aboard trains in L.A and other places. I never thought trains were so vulnerable to thieves. Now I'm afraid for the engineers as I wonder will some crazy climb aboard and force them to do something stupid. if I was an engineer, I'd be packing for real. these guys always looked untouchable in those massive machines, but the way of the world today has gotten crazy. I'm just looking at the info in my comment as I wanted to watch trains this morning and here, I am talking about crime to, SMH.
@ericemmons3040
@ericemmons3040 2 жыл бұрын
Apparently, the thieves are bold and/or desperate, made even more so because the idiot DA in Los Angeles doesn't want to do his job and prosecute criminals. I have read that the locks on the shipping containers are easily broken; that's got to change. Also, Union Pacific has to organize with the LAPD to deter these vandals. UP has its own police force; I just don't know how large it is. But UP and LAPD may have to line the tracks with officers and start deterring these thieves aggressively. . .
@sthpac69
@sthpac69 2 жыл бұрын
@@ericemmons3040 I have saw containers doors open over the years and just assumed the doors were not locked good, but now I believe they were broken into. these trains are just two long and can't be watch. How can a guard patrol a 100-car train when part of it is sitting in some areas that are not accessible to a guard but are to the thief? Like you say, the containers need better locks and the containers should be turned with the doors against each other (that will end it).
@ericemmons3040
@ericemmons3040 2 жыл бұрын
@@sthpac69 One guard cannot patrol an entire train; that's why I'm thinking that UP and LAPD would have to flood the zone with officers and aggressively deter these vandals, assuming that Union Pacific and the city have the will to do that. . .
@sthpac69
@sthpac69 2 жыл бұрын
@@ericemmons3040 I said guard, but I didn't really mean just one, but they can't have all the cops taken from the taxpayers to patrol their railroads and you know they are not going to hire 100s of guards. i love trains and I don't know how much you know about them but when they are stopped there are parts of the train sitting far back in an area not accessible to anyone but the thieves. What I mean by that is there are parts that have no roads alongside the tracks and many cars just sitting there waiting to enter the yards. This is the price the railroads will have to pay for trying to have 2-mile-long trains. I don't feel sorry for them because all they have been concentrating on is running trains without humans. Did you know that there are remote control trains working around train yards? In your area go down around train yards and you will see a sign that reads (remote control trains working in this area) lol. They are lobbying the gov. as we comment to put one engineer in that massive machine and also, they want to use remote control trains on short runs. I'm old enough to remember waving at the people in the caboose at the end of the train, but they were replaced by a red flashing light at the end smh. What the thieves are doing is terrible and they all need to be arrested but the railroad is a large part of the problem, they should change with the times and hire more people to help keep the RR safe and moving.
@ericemmons3040
@ericemmons3040 2 жыл бұрын
@@sthpac69 I have loved trains since I was 3, so I have studied a bit about trains. Obviously, the entire LAPD or Sheriff's Department and UP Railroad Police can't be called upon to guard a few miles of track; but a sufficiently large and mobile task force of officers from multiple departments might need to take on this problem, or it will get worse. I know that some trains are 2 miles long, and keeping such trains safe does present logistical problems; the railroads will have to use their ingenuity to solve those problems I have heard about remote-control trains, and I think it's a bad idea, except maybe for yard switching. Likewise, I don't like the idea of a one-man "crew" to operate a train. I, too, remember cabooses, and I liked them; got to tour one when I was 5, courtesy of a nice Santa Fe Railway conductor or brakeman, I'm not sure which. And yes, I agree, the railroads should hire more people to protect their personnel, property, and freight. Absolutely.

TrainmanDavid, didn't mean to bring this stuff into your channel like J R said, but we are still talking about the railroads. Back to the trains, I'm probably gonna have a hard time getting use to the new electric engine without the rumbling diesel powered generator. That sounds goes right through you when they rev it up. I believe railroad enthusiast back in the day said the same thing when diesel replaced steam, but I don't believe people said they missed the horse when steam came in lol.

I enjoy watching rail fan videos of railway operation. What I don't enjoy is rail-fans providing free taxi service by transporting crews in their private vehicles. By doing so they are depriving a human being the opportunity of paid employment. If the multi-billion dollar rail corporation wants their crews to have rides in the performance of their duties they should be paying someone to provide that service.

BNSF Z trains are the highest of priority, run the fastest and are UPS Intermodal trains. The 2nd one was carrying a lot of UPS. Also, BNSF Intermodal trains usually do not exceed 8000 ft. and run with 24 axle engines. 1 big engine is considered to have 8 axles. If you see more than 3 engines on a train, the others will be off-line and considered in tow.
