Exactly! Thank you for posting this. So many people feel bad if they don't feed their pet every time their pet begs for food and go ahead and feed them and this is not good because it usually leads to the pet being overweight and that's terrible for any pet's health.

Cats gain weight because of irresponsible owners. In this case the owners didn't stop the dog from eating the cat's food, which made the cat wary of losing her food and hence eating very fast before the dog could steal

A life without cat/s is not a real life. Our big boy just over 2 years old is still full of energy. As an indoor cat, we give him lots of space. Some people say "too much space, you should more often say NO ". He is a cat, not a human being. In our bedroom we have an old hanging corner cabinet. I have put on top tiny nice figures, which he never touched. Suddenly he loves the cabinet and at 2/ 3 am jumps up . All tiny things come down on my husbands head. Then I changed the figures and put all STEIFF animals on top in hope he won't jump. If, they are soft and can't hurt my husband. He managed to jump up. Now I have put two big cushions from the sofa up there and the last 3 days we slept through. CATNIP WE LOVE YOU.❤🐈❤🇩🇪❤

Good job, people! It’s helpful to look up how many calories your cat needs per day at his/her ideal weight, then look up how many calories are in their preferred brand. Portion it out using measuring cups or one of those cute little scales that takes up kitchen space. Yes, space, time and (gasp) math are involved until your cat has fully trained you and you have developed competence. Remember to factor in those daily treats. Oh, and if you have brought in a stray or former feral, or if there’s competition under the same roof, expect resistance - there’s that food insecurity thing that *never* goes away. They are psychic and they know how to play us!
