You can try to email the American Embassy in Italy. Let them know that you actually need a Study Visa but are taking a class and not going to the university. They help with special cases like yours. I do understand the anxiety part but maybe one last email or call may get you there. Hopefully you see this. I just couldn't live with myself it I didn't give you this info. All the best, love the channel.

As someone who has worked at a visa department of an embassy before (not the US though), they probably are not going to give that many advice concerning the immigration and visa policies of other countries, as that is not their jurisdiction or fall under their purview. Always contact the embassy of the country where you are going and who is actually in charge of issuing your travel document, as they make the decisions.

@@Qinglin888 I agree with that as well but, I have always found contacting the USA Embassy to more helpful as a USA citizen. The Italian Embassy will tell her where to go but the USA Embassy will help her with what she needs. it.usembassy.gov/visas/ For visa information and/or to schedule appointments visit usvisa-info.com/ Telephone: Italian number (+39) 06 9480 3777; US number 703-543-9310 Skype: skype_it_5 Service is available from Monday-Friday between 7:00am-9:00pm, except on Italian holidays.

@thread and fabric what she said about the visa is true. I studied abroad in Italy and had to go though a similar process to get mine. While I applied for a student visa I do believe it actually go what she describes as a national visa . And it’s true the process is kinda lengthy i never had to mail anything but that might be because I attended a university so I brought my stuff to an office but I did have to go to an appointment that I was assigned and wait to be finger printed. It was a little overwhelming at times but as someone who wasn’t fluent in Italian and suffers from anxiety it manageable.

I agree to call the Embassy. Yes trying to get a visa to another country is complicated, but people do it all over the world all the time. My visa to Japan took months, but it worked out. You just have to be an advocate for yourself and ask as many questions as possible and document everything.

In case you’re interested: As someone who also has anxiety, I’ve learned that caffeine (from coffee or energy drinks or other things) actually can make you nauseous. I imagine that’s what was happening when you felt ill. When ingesting caffeine I would highly recommend eating something bland and/or filling beforehand just to give your body something to run off of besides the caffeine. And if you do begin to feel nauseous, don’t force yourself to finish the caffeinated item, go grab some bread or noodles or something else for your stomach. Possibly also some plain boiled chicken if you eat meat. It’s been difficult cutting caffeine out of my life- although I still drink sodas now and again- but it’s kept me feeling less nauseated than ever, especially since my anxiety seems to cause nausea in it’s worst cases. Stay safe! Take care of yourself! I love the videos so much ☺️

Also caffeine can increase feelings of anxiousness in sufferers of anxiety. It could be helpful to try to switch to herbal tea or something decaffeinated and see if this helps lesson symptoms.

I did the whole "Visa to Italy for study" thing, twice. You should definitely contact your local Italian Consulate, they're typically very helpful and they really want people to go to Italy and learn. You should only need a Student Visa, and while you do have to apply for a Non-Resident card thing at the post office, it takes ages to get an appointment at the police station. My first stay I never got one before I left, they second time I did, but I never got my card and I was there for six months.

Angela, Im Italian and I currently live in Italy. laws in Italy don't make any sense. Don't stress yourself out and pick an easier country to get a visa from. I know that there is The Standard Visitor Visa, UK, that will let you stay in the country for up to 6 months (and you can totally move within europe with that). So, yeah, don't give up and look into other countries. Also, let me know if you need anything!! Im a local after all! I would like to explain what a "smoke shop" is, yes you can buy cigarettes there however it's a shop in which you can buy stamps (in Italy we don't go to the post office for stamps), chewing gums, candies, you can play the lottery there, pay your bills, some also sell newspapers and books, etc :D I hope this helped

Nope. Im pretty sure the rule is 90 days within a 180 day period. But honestly it's highly unlikely that they would bat an eye at a 9 day overstay. I would get a visa from an easier Schengen country instead of messing with Italy.

Angela, don't miss out on this opportunity of a lifetime because you don't want to live a life of regrets because you gave into your fears and insecurities. You can go and take weekend trips to Germany, France, Spain, etc, so you work around the 90 day issue, plus they are in the EU so you can travel from country to country without a problem.

I am 65 yrs now! I used to make my own patterns in this style to wear in the early '80's while working outside my home. The greatest compliment, ( meant insult me lol), was career women who had been adults in the 1940's, sd to me, "Good heavens! You look like you walked out of the 1940's!" I was thrilled! You are doing great on your projects!! LOVE both of these, but I love the gradient best! Absolutely fabulous!!!

Twenty years ago I moved across the country into an apartment about 1/3 the size of the townhouse I had: I lost my spacious workroom and pretty much gave up on sewing. I just bought a house with a very large room over the garage, which will slowly become a dedicated workroom. I need so many things I had to leave behind 20 years ago: a large cutting table, storage units, all of it. I've really enjoyed your videos; they're getting the sewing bug going in me again. I made many shoulder pads in the '80s and early '90s. A tip you may appreciate: if you spend less than five minutes lightly padstitching the graded filling together before you cover them, the padding will never shift or come apart in the wash. Use polyester thread because it will never deteriorate, either. My sister has consumer tested this many, many times: the dresses and blouses wore out before the pads did, and I re-used many of the pads. I'll also say they're far better made entirely by hand: I have total control over the final shape and machine stitching the bias covering fabric was often hit or miss. Until I gave up on machine work on shoulder pads, many very promising-looking pads became distorted and nasty with the final machine stitching of the cover. Ripping machine stitches out of bias-cut garment or lining fabric also failed to charm.

"Trust me, I've lived this life." What a mood! You never fail to hit the nail on the head. The little beady eyes are the best! Well. Second to the star buttons. They're the real best. Sorry about Italy. International Travel can be such a headache. I wish it was as easy now as it was when my parents traveled in Europe in the early '80s. It was the two of them and my older brother (who was like 2 or 3 at the time). They lived for a long stretch in Ireland, Belgium, and the Netherlands. I wish I had been around for that. I've only been to England & Canada...and since I can just drive over the border into Quebec, Canada doesn't feel like it "counts" as a foreign country.

did you look into the option of an extended tourist visa? Basically where they let you stay past the original 90 days. Also short term student visas as you would be studying (what people who study abroad there would get) because there should be easier visas to get than the one that is aimed at people moving there.
@AngelaClaytonCostumery

I though since for under 90 days there is no Visa required, you couldn't apply to extend it. It's too late to look into it now but I'll keep that in mind! Unfortunately I wouldn't qualify for a student visa since the class isn't run through a school. I appreciate the suggestions though :)

Angela Clayton ya a lot of countries let people stay more than the 90 days you just have to get a visa for it but it’s still just for tourists rather than letting you work and such. And ya that makes sense then that you wouldn’t be eligible for the student visa. Hope another opportunity comes up for you!

Maybe take a language course, travel around to experience the culture and food! I took a 2 months French course in Paris and travel in France in my late 20s after quitting my job (still needed a visa because my nationality). It was stressful for the planning but it's the best time ever! Now looking back if I didn't do it then, I probably wouldn't have the chance to do it ever in my life.

The black and red one was so cute and clever with the bat detail and how you accessorized it, but you immediately looked smashing in the black and gold star dress! I only wished it could have worked out for you to go to Italy!

Bat 🦇 one all the way, though both dresses turned out great. Like the little pop of red against the black.
