Our heros, Uber and Riley break down a classic #bookofmormon story. Was Lehi in the right to be mad at his sons for something they did in a dream?
We sight some of the wisdom we have learned from our friend's ‪@myspiritualife‬ and mention other past APs on other channels (cough cough ‪@ZelphOntheShelf‬ )
Read the apologetics on "why there are so many similarties between Joseph Smiths dad's dream and the one Joesph would later Author".

Love the discussion from 34:18, great perspectives. “You get to be you, and I get to be me.” So true.

Thoughts on the parallels between the "Tree of Life" and the "Tree of Knowledge"...?
@ubermormon9611

The tree of knowledge from the Adam and Eve myth? I can’t say I can think of many parallels between the tree of life in the Book of Mormon and the tree of knowledge in the Bible. I can tell you that in the biblical story God commands a chair of them to guard the tree of life after Adam and Eve eat the fruit. I imagine that the tree in 1 Nephi 8 is meant to be that same tree as Genesis 3:24. Let me know what you think!

@@ubermormon9611 It now strikes me that some of the symbolism matches up as far as a tree with fruit that is eaten and shared... the difference being whether or not God was cool with it. I knew that Joe Smith "borrowed" a lot from other sources! But, I surprisingly never made this specific connection before. Growing up in the church you just don't question things or compare and contrast. And this highlights to me that the church really elevates the BOM to be more important above the Bible- even though the Bible has these same themes in the beginning of the book, and it has been around way longer! I've been out almost 10 years and still finding layers that I have to address. I guess that is just how deep it goes.

@@kaitnaylor06 yes the church totally steals from everywhere and then tell us not to read any of the source material. After our weekly church attendance, family home evening, daily scripture, family prayer, "home teaching"(which isn't a thing anymore) members don't have time to crack open paradise lost if you know what I mean... It's so good to have you in the comment section. please don't be a stranger:)

Nevermind that it was a retelling of a story shared by Joseph Smith Sr. before the plates were ever shared with Joseph.

You know who really likes the finest things? The fancy labels? The big houses? The sleek European vehicles? The five carat engagement rings? The luxury malls? The plastic surgery? Sitting on red velvet thrones? Insisting everyone stand when they enter a room? You know who.

Great observation! I had a recent conversation with another exmo who told me that she recently realized that when she used to judge people for not wearing their garments, she was actually jealous because she didn’t want to be in hers either. Interesting how other people just living how they want to live can bring out our own insecurities.

I left the church a year after my mission. I'd been a hard working missionary, gave it my all. I'm still often very angry and resentful about the church. But it's because my parents are still members and I can't talk to them anymore. The Mormon church is a wedge.

To me, the dream is a sign that Joseph wrote the Book of a Mormon, because almost all writers write from what they know.

ACTUAL EVENTS (as told by a rock in a hat)--would be an honest disclaimer at the start. The Nephites are the ones that were destroyed and the Lamanites were preserved. Lehi definitely misses on that prophecy. That bothered me from the start.

Since Joe actually wrote the first part of the book last you would think we would have remembered that they didn’t perish. 🤔

i been ore at peace learning about myself where i came from to even bother trying to stay angry my great grand parents where Jewish so i started read and learn with Rabbis and to what i come to the conclusion is Christianity is an invention of Paul what this Jesus bears no reality to the person along with the gospels are in contradiction to the Tanakh. but would i go around saying they are wrong deceived or evil short answer no. Because the one thing i have learned from all my experience is we should be kind and help spread love and understanding in time it all comes out in the wash.

I don't just say what I now think because I'm still a carnal created being. My flesh is identified as filthy rags. I had to go from believing the Mormon teachings to reading The God breathed word so I can speak out His word which is pure. I went from being totally mad and upset about the 65 years of deceit to understanding how much the Mormon people need prayer and love. The end is very near right now so it's not about what we desire to do here on earth just because we can, no, its about recognizing what Christ DID! 1COR 15:1-4 is the gospel of Jesus Christ and when we believe that He died, was buried and rose again the 3rd day according to Scripture than we are saved. We are born again and we will not be separated from the Lord but will have everlasting life in the ONE heaven for all eternity. Praising the Lord for God's grace and salvation. 💗

Why is it that people who leave the Mormon Church (which is awesome!) seem to adopt crude speech, atheism, and Liberalism? It doesn’t make any sense to me, and is unlikely to attract and retain the audience I think you’re trying to speak to; which is sad, as they need to hear the message! Having virtue signaled, let me relay a favorite quote: “What’s the difference between Joseph Smith and Warren Jeffs? About 150 years”.

I have content that is tame for those people. I also have videos where I lets loose and have silly conversations with my friends. I actually think it is preferable to being a “curated, online brand”. All of that being said, the goal of my channel is not to be someone’s first exposure to exMormon content. I see myself talking to the people who are mostly out and trying to reconstruct or just laugh and gain hope for the future. Also that’s a pretty good Joseph Smith joke btw. Thanks for the comment.
