Wasn't the shimmer effect first created by Brian Eno? I'm sure I heard that somewhere. You can build a very nice shimmer using the built in FX in the Behringer Deepmind synth. The only minus point is that when it gets to the very top of the pitch shift it goes a tad wonky. I think the feedback takes it too high. It's not really anything major - in a mix youd probably not notice it. Alsodoes a good "glimmer", where the pitch shifts down instead of up. It's such a shame that the DM doesn't have an audio input! Sadly that can't be fixed in a firmware update. Maybe someone will come up with a hardware mod that won't give me a heart attack! Cheers ✌️

Don't know who invented it but happy to go along with Eno 👍 Don't know the DM but it sounds versatile. I guess you can create all sorts by mixing and combining FX.

@@IanWaugh yes, the effects on the Deepmind are astounding. Using the iPad app is the best way to set them up, but it's not difficult doing it directly on the synth. There are a bunch of routing options for the 4 FX slots. For such a reasonably priced synth it's incredible. I got a DM 12 brand new on Amazon a couple of years back for just £589. Don't know what the offer was for, but I couldn't say no to that! It's probably my best purchase. Even without the fx, it's a brilliant synth, especially at that price. Cheers ✌️

Solaris always looked good, but I think it's PC only? I was wondering if you could recommend any arp and seq plugins? Free/ paid. Although I am considering stepic too. Stay well and TY.

Hi Morgan - Yes, Solaris is currently PC-only. Put this in the description (but not the vid) in the, probably unlikely, event that he makes a Mac version 😲 I haven't seen many Arps plugins but I can't see any Seq cooming close to Steppic. But depends on what you want.

@IanWaugh Thanks Ian. I don't know what I want either. I would be happy with the basics, maybe 16 step, accent-able, but deeper control and features would be amazing. Just for underneath melodies...not so much ambient, but for arrangements. For sound presets and instrument vsts in a daw.

@@morgan8937 Well, he says , trying to save you money 😊 Many instrument plugins have built-in sequencers and arps, and many MIDI controllers have an Arp function. Do any of your plugins have this?

Also, many DAWs have built in arpeggiators. I've used Cakewalk for donkeys years and that has a very good arp built into every midi track. It's currently free with Bandlab so won't cost you anything but time to try it out. Cheers ✌️
