I say this as I'm waiting for my Move to get delivered today, but to me it looks like a device that solves all of my main frustrations with the OG Circuit and Tracks. Without a screen you could never really know what the macro knobs were changing on any given preset, and navigating synth presets especially was a really annoying. I'm looking forward to having a musical sketch pad again and the fact that you can then export back to Ableton proper to make a track more fully featured is great.

But I keep forgetting to bring them, and as I bring my iPad Air more often, I'm trying to transition more to iPad apps like Dorico (useful since it's also my main desktop notation software) and StaffPad (one of the well-known ones for the handwriting feature). I don't really make beats on the go. I'd probably just use my voice notes for ideas.

Got the Move to use as a controller and audio interface for my laptop. Works pretty well and it is great to have Push-like scale mode pads when needed. Oddly, it seems you can't control the audio interface volume. The Move's volume knob only adjusts Live's Main track volume. Hope they add a setting to change that. Also, the audio interface volume is much lower than the standalone volume.
@Marco-ek8wu3 ай бұрын
Hey not sure what laptop you have but on the Mac you need to go to audio settings and turn up the volume on the move audio device settings. That solved it for me. Oh and by the way on battery power with my MacBook the move really drains the battery as it’s charging. Launchpad is more efficient as a comparison. I’m really on the fence with my move. 4 tracks is too limiting in standalone.
@DougNak3 ай бұрын
@@Marco-ek8wu Thanks Marco! I'm on Windows, but there was a setting in the device settings. Of course, that's not really a convenient place to adjust volume. I really wish Move's volume knob controlled that. I mean, I think I never adjust the master volume.

QOTW: Currently, my main studio is portable in that I use a laptop and a small audio interface. Thus I can take that “on the go”, albeit it’s a bit bulky. (And forget bringing the 32”display monitor). But I have made stuff and done stuff using my phone, which I then exported to my main setup. Audiomodern came out with Soundbox (I forget if you covered it earlier) and it’s garnering controversy due to its pricing model, price to features/quality and even how the company is reacting to it. Cherry Audio also came out with Atomika, based on the Polivoks synth, the Soviet synth made from 1982 to 1990. They’ve also been not quiet for the past few months 😉.

Charhging 400,- for a plugin is just asking to get pirated. Btw Loopcloud already offers tempo and key integration within DAWs so that Splice feature in Studio One is not a game changer. What IS new and interesting though is Splice's AI looking for similar sounds, but guess what? Ableton Live has that feature built in since version 12 as well. As for on the go: The only device that I actually take outside ánd finish tracks with is the MPC Live 2. It's really liberating, sitting on a bench overseeing the Amsterdam canals, while pumping out beats. It's clunky enough though, which is why I am interested in the more portable Move. Unfortunately, it's already sold out in EU. Compared to the Ableton Note and other inspiring touch apps like Koala Sampler: it's just a different experience compared to full standalone. And I find myself in need hooking up a midi controller to these apps which makes it a less portable and tactile experience than a dedicated device like the Ableton Move.

Also, that ROLI thing is just a more advanced version of the D-Beam thing Roland has in several of their keyboards.

I don't even think it is fit for live performance purposes Sanjay and the 4 tracks, will leave any producer stifled to create anything of real value. The SP404-MK2 would make for a better piece at this price point. At least the live EFX features in it could have a valued slot in one's live performance rig...
