Laura, I so appreciate your ability to evolve! No faux to there's a time and a place for faux. No berms to adding berms. No boulders/rocks in the landscaping to adding large boulders and tree stumps. A much needed reminder for the world that nothing is ever black & white and our preferences can evolve. ☺It's always a joy to watch you! 💗

Absolutely Yes to the fake topiary, nothing! Nothing! Wrong. Sometimes you need to do what is best for you, that’s a message you have always said and encouraged others to do. Every year the strong warm wind would burn one of the topiary’s on either side of my front door. Then about 7 years ago, I had had enough of replacing and worrying about another topiary. So I bought 2 fake pyramid styles of topiary and I love them. I love them because I don’t have to worry about them, I have changed them out to give my front door area a different look and they always come back out at Christmas with either soft white fairy lights or green lights. Sometimes you just have to admit defeat 🤭

Last year I used faux flowers in the pots on my porches because those areas require hand watering and I just can't anymore due to health issues. Such a blessing. I was so worried about being judged for it, but what I ordered looked surprisingly good. No one said anything negative, a few people wanted to know what they were so they could grow some. 😊 The topiaries look good.

The faux topiaries are beautiful!! 😍 You will love them. I have had topiaries for years… real lollipops, junipers etc. that either were lopsided in size or one would brown while the other would thrive. It was frustrating. I’m in the second year of my faux plants (that are in full sun and sits in front of my porch and exposed to the elements) and they have not faded. You have a beautiful home and gardens. There is nothing wrong with wanting to keep your porch looking it’s best!!!! Enjoy 😊

I have cats. I've had cats for many, many years. Indoor plants and even fresh cut flowers have proven to be a temptation that can result in a huge mess for me. I have a faux fishtail fern in my living room. I read (somewhere) that adding soil and/or mulch in the pots with the fakes can make them look more realistic. So I added a layer of soil inside the smaller plastic pot and placed it in the large decorative pot. I then filled around that with bubble wrap and packing paper (indoor, so didn't really matter) and topped with a layer of cardboard and put mulch on top of that. I'm not sure I'm fooling anyone, but it does look nice and the cedar mulch smells good. :-)

oooo, watching this whole 'grapes in a pot' idea... might be my chance for fresh grapes! sending positive growing vibes your way!! and you know, sometimes faux is the answer.. i have a plant-eating cat who doesn't seem to have any internal alarm about good or bad plants, so yeah, i have a few faux things around inside to make me feel like i have some plants inside... my neighbor has pots almost identical to the ones you got, and hers have looked fabulous, outside with socal sun on them, for 3?4? years now... she has the perfect place for them and it really adds the touch she wanted to her front walkway, and i approve.. no pruning, no die back, no watering... just an occasional spritzing to get the dust off... and so many faux plants look very real these days... i think you will be happy with yours... and the fresh paint looks great!! love those kiddoes in the pots, too cute!! 🥰❤thanks for the video!! 🥰❤

Fabulous faux planters. Welcome to my world. I had the same problem. Now you need to paint the urns on the sidewalk in front of the entryway. It’ll be fun to watch the grapes grow.

What a relief, not having to worry about the faux topiary. I wonder if you’d want to use faux plants in window boxes?

You should try rain chains for those roofs that splatter.

Ohhhh, Laura loved what you did today. Can't wait to see how the grape vine trees turn out I just know they will be spectacular. And the faux trees look absolutely beautiful on your porch. 😊❤ but the sweetest pot's were of the kiddos loved how Samantha got right into it then Benjamin tried it out. Love your kiddos ❤️ 😊 God's blessings to you all . ❤

You help me focus on a project to be completed. I so frequently let my brain 'squirrel' when I go outside. "Focus," I tell myself, "like Laura does, and you just might actually get something completed." Thanks buckets.

Love the look of those faux topiaries! 😊 and I can see you, Aaron and the littles sitting in that area chilling, while picking grapes off within, not even, arms length🫐 👌🏼

I put faux boxwood on my front porch, after years of trying to grow anything there. The porch faces NE and is mostly shaded. The Boxwoods are eight years old and not faded. With your size of property, anything you can do to make your life easier is a win.

I love how those faux boxwoods look on your porch. Since our house faces south I use faux topiaries and flowers on our front porch too because it gets so darn hot I can't keep live plants in pots. The plants in the ground do fine but in pots they just dry out too fast. Thanks for making me feel better about using faux plants lol.

5:30 Reminds me of the inebriated guy at the start of the year who got stuck in a fancy flowerpot at a New Year's Eve party. Quite a fun watch.

I never would have known those spiral boxwoods were fake. Good job Martha Stewart! Now I want some too 😂😂😂

I almost wondered if maybe you should have used pebbles instead of soil? I wonder if the soil will dry so much without water that it will turn grey and look odd? Anyway, it is an excellent idea and the faux looks really good....very realistic 😀

Yeah, I think even pebbles to top dress the pots will look nice and keep the dirt from possibly getting on the porch for whatever reason (cats). Just a suggestion.

Suggestion for the topiaries, top dress with rocks. They look amazing.

So glad to see you try some artificial plants. There are times when they just work better than a live plant. Looks great.

Thanks for jogging a very happy memory of visiting Hampton Court and seeing that amazing ancient grapevine 40 years ago. I look forward to seeing how your grapevines do. All the best from HTX

It’s great to know you use FAUX plants too. Perfect idea to keep porch areas in a neater state when water stains are an issue for some of us. Honestly I was excited that LAURA of GARDEN ANSWER used FAUX plants like we do in certain areas 😍. Cant wait to see those grape topiaries grow.
