Compared to other reviewers I watch on KZbin, you have so much more to say and seem better informed on your subjects. Most of all, as a 74-year-old who came of age in the classic rock era, I am gratified that this generation of music is still being appreciated by young people and that you are introducing your generation to this epic music. Robert Plant and John Bonham were best mates, and all the surviving members have known Jason from babyhood. John Bonham helped Robert through the crushing loss of Roberts little son, who died at the age of five Of a stomach virus in 1977. Then, in 1980, it was Robert and his wife who went to Bonham’s house to tell Jason that his father was dead. It was a devastating loss for Robert. He lost his best friend. Zeppelin also died that day. The deep emotions showing on Robert’s face during that performance are so moving.

One more note. John Bonham also wore a British Derby hat, sorta his trademark.. Jason wore his dad'd Derby here as a tribute to his dad, and the entire choir in the back wore the same.

You're not the only ones crying! I'm a 53 year old guy, sitting here at my desk, absolutely in a puddle of tears. Both bands have been a huge part of my life, and this brings back SO many memories and emotions. My dad brought home Heart's first album in early 1976, and we listened to it over and over together - it was when we became more than just father and son, and became friends who loved music. I can't listen to Heart now without breaking out into tears, since he's no longer here to listen with me. He'd absolutely love you! I hope the bond between you ladies grows to be as great as that of Ann and Nancy, and that they have a place in your life as special as they do in mine. Led Zeppelin did a live reunion concert in London in 2007. Over 20 million people tried to get one of the 18,000 seats sold. They killed it. Brilliant performance. Jason Bonham was an official member of Zeppelin that night and absolutely channeled his father’s spirit. He had studied every bootleg of their live performances and knew every nuance and fill his father had done, and performed it flawlessly. Seeing the three surviving members (Robert was 59, Jimmy 62, John Paul 61) playing with their beloved John’s son.........Can you imagine the emotions on stage that night?

Jason Bonham is not merely the son of John Bonham, He is also the godson of singer Robert Plant. Jason also wore a bowler hat, as did most of the choral singers, as an homage to the late John Bonham. It was his signature in performances to wear a bowler hat. Jason has performed with Robert, Jimmy, and John as a part of Led Zeppelin on a tour years ago, and he is also an in-demand drummer for many of the hard rock legends when touring. He even dipped his toe into being an actor. He played the drummer of a fictitious 1980s era heavy metal band called Steel Dragon in the movie 'Rock Star' with Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston. Heart is a must for you two!!! In the 1970s and 80s, there were only a few female rock singers who could be considered Goddesses of Rock...Ann Wilson as a vocalist was one (along with Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Nicks, and a few others). And no one, male or female, has done more for the acoustic guitar in rock than Nancy Wilson who is superb on the electric guitar, but she is untouchable on acoustic (just listen to the opening of "Crazy On You" by Heart to understand this). I think you would really love their music..."Barracuda", "Magic Man", "These Dreams", "Never", "Alone", "If Looks Could Kill", "Nothin' At All", "What About Love?"...all of these are must-hear even if you don't do reactions.

The thing that gets me every time in this video is the look of sheer joy on Jimmy Page's face when they show the remaining members of Led Zeppelin. He has the unbridled enthusiasm of a child, seeing his music interpreted in this way, and it's great to watch. And Ann Wilson.....absolutely legendary voice. Wow. For the most part, she sings this much more true to the way Robert sang it on the studio version. And by the way, no one in the band knew that Jason was going to be there. Apparently the sight of him was what brought tears to Robert's eyes, thinking of his old friend Bonzo. This is powerful stuff.

I'm SOOOOO glad that you watched this performance. I'm a 56 year old Englishman and been aware of Led Zeppelin for as long as I can remember. I began my musical journey as a drummer and was a huge fan of John Bonham. Jason was just 14 years old when his dad died in 1980 but he has gone on to become an exceptional drummer in his own right. Not only does this outstanding performance demonstrate just what an absolute masterpiece of a song it is, but also how overwhelming it can be when played to this astonishing standard. What's also beautiful is seeing the reactions of the 3 remaining members (from left to right on the balcony in evening dress with their awards attached to their lapels) John Paul Jones, bass and keyboards, Robert Plant, vocals, and Jimmy Page, guitar. They were evidently blown away by the performance and Robert Plant is reduced to tears. 😃

One of the reasons Robert Plant looked like he was about to cry during the Heart tribute performance was because he had just prior to the show been talking to his bandmates about Jason Bonham, the son of the Led Zeppelin drummer, the late John Bonham. Robert Plant was best friends with the father, and told his bandmates that he regretted that they had not invited Jason to the Kennedy Center Honors to enjoy it on behalf of his Dad. About the hats...Zeppelin's drummer - John Bonham - used to wear a bowler hat (like those) and a white boiler suit on stage. He took that from a 1971 movie called A Clockwork Orange. In the film, there was a gang of thugs who would go around dressed that way. First time I watch this performance and the curtain lifted up to show the choir, I got major goosebumps and teared up - knowing the meaning and having listened to LZ for more than 40 years, how could I not? It still has that effect and to see your reactions to it are wonderful. Welcome to the world of real musicianship!

In 1979 my girlfriend lived next door to Ann.... I was invited to a BBQ at Ann's house, and she asked if I could play guitar. "Yeah, since I was 6 years old !" Ann asked, "You know Beatles' songs ?" I said, "C'mon ! Sure I do !" Sat next to Ann around a campfire and her voice moved my hair. Have MANY videos of them from 2010 and on ... on my channel !

Ann Wilson is one of the greatest singers you could ever hear. You spoke of the pressure to perform. Think about it, you are on the stage, performing one of the most legendary songs every written by one of the most legendary bands that ever existed IN FRONT OF the legendary band that wrote it. They absolutely killed it, and I'll admit, it puts tears in my eyes every time. I saw an interview with Robert Plant a couple of years ago. He said he was talking to Jimmy Page and said "We should have invited Jason. I can't believe we didn't bring him.." He said he lost it when he appeared behind that drum kit.

It is refreshing to watch you girls react, the look on your faces is epic! Before Heart both Ann and Nancy Wilson used to do Zeppelin cover songs, it’s there favorite group! Later Nancy joined a band in Vancouver B.C. called Heart, they needed a singer and Nancy, who thought her sister was a remarkable singer, invited Ann! The rest is history! Ann Wilson is the best female rock singer in history and Nancy is the best female guitarist! You girls rock! Love the background mural! Keep up the good work!

When Led Zepplin 4 came out in 1971. I had just turned 19. I was living alone and a friend showed up with this record album. We put in on the record player and started listening. I thought the first 3 albums were good but this is the gold standard. There were also some vegetables consumed that night. I will never forget it. It's weird how music can bring back memories. After all most of us were conceived while our parents were listening to music. Or the music put our parents in a romantic mood. Stay home stay healthy.

Very powerful song. This version gives me goose bumps all the time considering Jason is playing for his dad, and that Heart are playing a song by a band they site as one of the influences.
