The Cure have a special place in my heart since 1985, I love them so much. There's no other band on earth that can express emotions and feelings this deep and good. Please react to Just Like Heaven next, this is often seen as their best song, it's fantastic and unbelievably moving both musically and lyrically.
@jenniferrodriguez5337 Жыл бұрын
Robert Smith wrote it as a wedding gift to his wife. He suffer(s/ed) depression so that makes all his lyrics much more knowing both these things. If you think this and Just Like Heaven sound like falling in love listen to Friday I'm In Love. Many old fans hated it because it was such a big hit that even the jocks who hated on The Cure were into it. If you want to explore darker feels check out Lullaby (really creepy), or Close to You (inspired by fever dreams when Robert Smith had the chicken pox as a kid). Also Boys Don't Cry...a song about an awkward young man who struggles to express his feelings to a girl after hurting her feelings by saying the wrong thing.

Robert Smith, the singer, met his wife, Mary Poole, at school when they were both only 14 years old. They fell in love, started their courtship and a while later they got married. "Lovesong" is the song he composed to ask her in marriage. They are still married and in love after many decades, they have been together as a couple all their lives. That's why you started to cry when listening to the song, because it is composed with an authentic feeling.

Welcome to the beautifully Gothic world of The Cure. One of the very first and original Goth bands. Their music is rife with not just more expected elements such as darkness and melancholy, but also rich emotions like the love expressed here. And, please accept my condolences for your loss. My own cousins just lost their father to cancer a mere week ago. Losing those close to you is a heavy blow to the heart.

Soooo glad you liked so many aspects to this classic. I didn't see it mentioned by anyone in my quick look at the comments: like you said on a personal level it can apply however fits to someone you love/have connection with.... But to the making, itself, extra to the romance was it was about/to his to-be wife as a wedding gift. The band toured a great deal so they were apart for sometimes extended periods and the two over more than a decade together at that point had, of course, their ups and downs (they're now in their 60s and very much in love after 40+ years together... she was grinning massively when at the event of The Cure being put into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame). He wanted her to know what it said with their lifestyle for the upcoming wedding.
