Welcome aboard, young ladies! Tom has a nice amount of hit songs , that deserve listening to. A good friend of mine, went to Tom Petty's very last concert, at the Hollywood Bowl, and Tom died two days later. Unfortunately, that very same friend of mine, also passed away two and a half years ago 😢. RIP!
@albertsmith93152 жыл бұрын
So sad that you two will never get to see Tom in concert. One of the best shows ever, such a loss. But do continue with your discovery. BTW... that is George Harrison on rythm guitar in the background along with Jeff Lynn from ELO. Everyone loved and worked with Petty. Check out the Traveling Wilburys.
@JoeScottish2 жыл бұрын
The Heartbreakers werent involved... this was Tom Petty solo, with Jeff Lynne co-writing and producing.... Jeff Lynne is the genius who wrote, produced and sang on all ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) records... that's why is sounds so good.
@danasfaith57382 жыл бұрын
Thank you Joe for the insight! : )
@GatorScribe7262 жыл бұрын
Not a full Heartbreakers effort, though Mike Campbell was involved, playing guitar and co-producing the album.
@JoeScottish2 жыл бұрын
@@GatorScribe726 Yeah, officially it was produced by Jeff Lynne (WITH Tom Petty and Mike Campbell) this song was a Petty/Lynne composition........ Campbell was annoyed originally about Lynne's involvement before he saw how good he was..... and so Lynne produced Tom's next album, with the Heartbreakers.
@dougdavis89862 жыл бұрын
Not totally accurate. Though not a Heartbreakers album per se all the Heartbreakers worked on it except Stan Lynch. Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench can be heard all over it. The solo on this song is all Campbell.
@JoeScottish2 жыл бұрын
@@dougdavis8986 eh? Benmont Tench was only on one song (not this one)...And Campbell was part of the solo album band so obviously was on this one... The story goes the Heartbreakers initially refused to play songs from this album live but got over it......... but this album has got Jeff Lynne's production stamped all over it...
@txrojas2 жыл бұрын
This is actually Tom Petty and one Heartbreaker. The rest is Ringo Starr and George Harrison from The Beatles and Jeff Lynn from ELO.

It's two Beatles plus two guys who should have been in The Beatles. People have referred to Tom Petty as the American beetle. Also Jeff Lynn's ELO was so heavily influenced by the Beatles of the even recorded in the same studios and many people regard them as where the Beatles would have gone had they continued their trip together past 1970.
@keymack24772 жыл бұрын
Thank you girls for reacting to Tom Petty! In addition to Ringo Starr of the Beatles on drums the two guys singing back up and playing guitars together are George Harrison, also of The Beatles and Jeff Lynne of the Electric Light Orchestra. Harrison and Lynne would go on to be in The Traveling Wilbury's with Tom as well as the legendary Roy Orbison and Bob Dylan, but that is for another day! Happy Belated Birthdays to you both!

I hope you can checkout The Traveling Willbury's 'End of The Line' featuring Tom Petty, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison! Roy Orbison past away during the filming of this Video so they put his guitar on a Rock'n Chair so during his verse the camera shows the chair Rock'n! Philip Actually, Tom Petty passed away in Oct of 2017. I remembered it well when news reported his death. Months earlier, my friends and I went to Tom Petty and Heartbreakers concert on May 4, 2017. Awesome concert! He had Joe Walsh and Steve Winwood as opening acts. He was in process of retiring from touring before his death. His older brother, Bruce and his daughters were at opening for city park in his hometown of Gainesville, Florida to rename the park as Tom Petty Park months after his sudden death.

Hi you two! There wasn't only Ringo in the band there was also Jeff Lynne from ELO and George Harrison who was also one of The Beatles! The guy who played the lead break is from Tom Petty's original band. Ringo, George and Jeff are just there to back him up and I think George Harrison co-wrote the song with Tom Petty. One more thing, Tom Petty, George Harrison and Jeff Lynne were in a band called The Travelling Wilbury's along with Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison with Jim Keltner on drums! They were great together to say the least! Try their songs Handle With Care and End of The Line for a start! Love your videos, you make them fun because of your outgoing personalities and your honest reactions! Another great Tom Petty song is Free Falling.

The story I heard about this song was he was ticked off with some executive that was trying to make him do simething. This was his response song. I wish I could tell someone off with a rock song. The other thing I have heard was that he dud not like the weird videos they made for his songs. Back then, people still didn't know what to do with videos. They would just pick visual artists and have some abstract video with nothing to do with the song. I mean Slash of Guns and Roses has said he still does not know what the **** the video for "November Rain" means. They told him to play and he did. Didn't I've it much thought after. My suggestion for the next Tom Petty THB is "Last Dance With Mary Jane" Strange, kinda spooky and weird video, but the theme is closer to the song. Another good one is "Even Walls Fall Down". It has of my favorite lines from a song. It is about being happy and sad. That they are both inevitable in us. " Some days are diamonds, some dats are rocks. "

As a teenager, when I was feeling ticked off with my parents (believe me that was a LONG time ago!) my favourite song of strength to listen to (as loudly as I could) was Asia - "My Own Time (I'll do what I want)" - the last two lines of the chorus are "I'll do what I want and I'll do it in my own time!".
