Most two-handed bowlers struggle with ball speed and accuracy. In this video, we're going to talk about the two-handed bowling arm swing. This is an important step in bowling, and if you don't understand it, you'll have a hard time getting good results.
So let's take a look at the arm swing, and see how it works. This video will help you optimise the bowling ball speed and accuracy under the view of biomechanics. After watching this video, you'll be able to swing your arm correctly and get great results in bowling!

I would recommend looking at Ryan Barnes when it comes to two handed ball speed. As someone that has been training pretty hard at 2h bowling for the past couple of years, Ryan is the first person I think of when I think of 2 handers with very high ball speed. His dad is obviously one of the best (and smartest) pro bowlers of all time, so I put a very high value on Ryan's mechanics, as I assume he has been very well coached from a young age. And seriously, Ryan throws the ball insanely fast!

Amazing work and video, you are combining common sports science mechanics in baseball and tennis with bowling! Repeating your key points throughout the video is so helpful. Now, I need to get to work! P.S. showing you use a practice ball at the gym to work on your swing is a very good idea !

Thank you for your encouragement Paul! Yeah I think having a lighter ball to simulate the movements is better. I will think of many other shooting angles which can best describe the movements of bowling. 🤞😁

I'm a left-handed stroker, 65 years of age. Thumbless and Two-handers have always stroked my ire, but yet amazed me by the energy that their releases produced. I'll never attempt them, but I'll definitely use your channel for the information it provides for those attracted to this method. Fortunately, I'm open-minded and able to apply some methods of this madness to Old School as well. You have a new subscriber. Keep up the good work. Peace.

So, I actually have the ball low, arm extended in my setup and don't pull back...I use my body momentum and angle and it actually does all the work if I keep my arm locked and straight... end result is 16.50mph to 17mph with a 15lb ball up 3rd arrow or 13 board.

@@BowlismOutlaw No, I'm 2-handed 1 finger hole now. Before, yes I was 1-naded 1 finger hole but had a shoulder issue that forced me into 2-handed. I switch between index finger or middle finger to change my pitch on release. Depends on how the lanes are holding. It changes when the ball breaks and how hard by about 3-4boards and I don't have to move and can throw my same line and target. Tonight in league I rolled with index finger so I could get a few more feet and lower speed before rolling over on fresh oil that was 5mins down before we started. Everyone was dying first game bc we couldn't get anything to hook...

One thing that I’ve never heard explained is the function of the second hand with this delivery. Biomechanically, the two handed style looks very tough on one’s back. What is the advantage of two-handed delivery over a thumbless one handed delivery? There are a few two handers who bowl with their thumb, is there any advantage to bowling this way?
@BowlismOutlaw
@BowlismOutlaw Жыл бұрын
Thumless one handed style requires good strength and physique of the arm and shoulders. 2 handed style has the help of the non bowling arm. So you can have more control and ability to manipulate the ball motion.

Is the knee brace because you plant and put stress on left hip and knee? The hop and plant was painful for me. Taking more of a Kyle Troup approach.
@BowlismOutlaw
@BowlismOutlaw Жыл бұрын
Uhm...not really. I use the knee brace due to the strain in the knee tendons. It's due to the gym exercise not the bowling practice. By the way, I don't use it anymore :D You see: instagram.com/reel/CmwbTHZIOGx/ Just like you say, the hop and plant was painful for the knee. This is usually due to non-optimal sliding step. You can fix it by zooming into the timing and making the swing longer (for 2handed players). I also ask myself why people hop and plant. I also experienced it. The answer might lie in their own interest or it's because the ball coming to the fouline faster than your foot, making you automatically (your brain does it) stop to finish the release though you are not ready to do it yet. So you need to make your timing later a bit so that your feet can reach the foul line earlier than your swing. With this in mind, your sliding step will have enough time to finish. I think I should make another video explaining about this what do you think?

Just like any other sport, know the theory then visualise it. I'm always thinking the swing is like pulling but letting it free fall type of motion.

When I try to rotate my shoulders, it causes chicken wing swing... How can i prevent that from happening?
@BowlismOutlaw
@BowlismOutlaw 2 ай бұрын
Hi bro. The solution stays in our mindset. We do not need to rotate our shoulders to make the ball hook. Please watch this video then it might explain why :D kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWjGi2aqprCSaNksi=Je3qbCKgwMktzThg

What's your ball speed and is that measured at the camera or at your hand somehow?
@BowlismOutlaw
@BowlismOutlaw Жыл бұрын
I don’t measure it in the video Denman bro. Depending on the oil patten, If the ball hit the pocket with optimal carry. That’s the speed I want 😃

@BowlismOutlaw Жыл бұрын
Actually there was a time I always questioned myself why my ball speed was so slow. It’s mainly because: 1. I watch other bowlers’ video and compare my ball speed to theirs. 2. I missed the 10 pin so often due to overhooked shot. But after fixing my timing and approach. I didn’t even think about ball speed 😄 anymore. Trust me bro, ball speed is such an illusion for most 2 handers when they start to learn.

@@BowlismOutlaw I'm just always curious about the delta an individual experienced. Not much the player vs player speed comparison. With some minor practice last time I was on the lanes I was seeing straight balls exceeding 12mph up 1mph and strike balls going 11+ instead of 10+. More work to do on my personal timing. Just wondering how things worked for you is all.
@BowlismOutlaw
@BowlismOutlaw Жыл бұрын
Yeah, measuring ball speed can be tricky. The ball speed will vary based on their rolling phases on the lane. To define the carry, I think it should be the speed of collision with the pin. It's also affected by emotion of bowles :D
