Two Huge Seal Bulls Rescued

Most of our seal rescues take place at Pelican Point or Cape Cross, far away from fishermen or any other sign of civilisation. But harbour rescues are done at the docks, right next to our fish factories, and we hope that many fishermen are forced to see what their old fishing line and nets have done to our seals. We have an 'out of sight, out of mind' approach to trash, but we need to remember that discarded fishing gear is never truly gone.

Naude’s big bull just thought that “little” net was just a sleep mask-so he decided to take a little nap 💤. Glad when the harbor boys are relatively calm about their rescue. An angry Bull could easily flick off a rescuer like a pesky fly Well done Naude and Tony (and the Harbor Boys too!)

There was a seal rescue ages ago where a big bull flung one of them off. He went flying! They got him sorted in the end. 😂

It's clear the fishermen don't care about the seals. They could at least pick up their rubbish. They've seen you cut off enough lines and straps to know what they can do to a seal. Thanks for the extra effort needed for these rescues!🦭♻️👏

The big ones are the most dangerous. Luckily the one with the black strap calmed down and was easily save along with the one with the white strap. This is why we need to support OCN, because their experience and knowledge is what saved these two!

You have to love the obligitory flight response to the rescue operation. It's almost like those bulls were saying we can't look too easy here, but we know they are here to help. Wow, the net fitted like a hood on the one Naude caught. The one Tony caught was also really large. It could have been so dangerous, but I think those seals have seen OCN before or maybe recognise your smell from a previous encounter. So pleased they just let you cut them free without making a fuss. But that approach took a lot of bravery from Naude and Tony. 💪💪👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
