These two rescued seals could not have reacted more differently. The first one was calm and relaxed, almost sleepy, and stayed with Antoine for a bit after his rescue. The second seal was angry and ready for a fight. It is easy to understand the difference, the second seal was in immense pain. His entanglement had caused a deep and infected cut on his neck. He was already very vulnerable, and being attacked by a bunch of human beings must have been the scariest experience of his life so far. For both seals, the day ended a lot better than it started and we are grateful to be a part of their journey towards healing. 🦭

Thank you very much 🙏 With good binoculars, amazing team work, lots of experience, and a lot of luck. There are normally at least 3 rescuers scanning the same group of seals. Sometimes it is the body language of the seal that first catches our attention, often an entangled seal is very wary and skittish, presumably due to being in pain and unable to free itself of the entanglement. Sometimes it is the sunlight catching the tiny thread poking out from its neck. Once we have all focused on the seal and agreed that we believe there to be an entanglement one of us doesn't take their eyes off of it while the others prepare for the rescue. We often lose track of an individual in a large group of fleeing seals, but in most cases at least one person is able to guide the one with the net if need be.

The 2nd pup, a female is quiet angry because she's in terrible pain. The rescue team (Denzil, Antonie, etc understand her), she even reacted "Ouch!" There's 2 loop of strings when he tried to find and cut it. It's little bit infected but they managed to remove it and the healing process start (the sea water acts as a disinfectant). But then she kinda said thank you for them. Before she go and joins the others, she turn back and "bow" and then she leave :)

Amazing rescues!!❤️ The first one such a sweet interaction between Antoine and baby seal 1, lots of warm fuzzy feelings 🦭 The horrible pain endured by the seal 2 🦭🦭and the care with which the team took to extract that awful line. Thank you 💙🦭✂️🦭✂️🌎🕊✨

I noticed when Tony shouted “Move” quite a few of the seals stopped and looked at him probably thinking “It’s Tony!” Well done lads and thank you.

Thank you for your diligence with continuing to check on this group of seals despite not finding injured seals for several months. You saved two seals today and I am grateful for what all of you have done. I loved how sweet the first baby seal was, just chilling in the net. # 2 was easy going once you cut the fishing line. What a win guys, you are seal heroes every day in Namibia and an incredible example to the rest of the World.

Make no mistake both of those seals were extremely thankful. The first one completely melted my heart I have to be honest and I'm 57-year-old man! That second seal was really in a lot of pain and discomfort but actually did very well and understood very quickly once the work was done that things had gotten better for it. Excellent work as always team. I particularly like the human escort of the second seal back to the water. That was kind of neat like get in there and get a bath!

That little pup was adorable. I half expected her to just try to go into nap mode. That second one made me go "ooooo, ow!" I hope you guys get the one with the bag. And other other one. I'm glad for what you do for these seals, it warms my heart. Also, is not finding entanglements for so long a good or bad thing?

I can't imagine what it's like saving those seals. I imagine it's a metric sh*t ton of work but when you free even a single one of an entanglement the sense of satisfaction must be worth it. You guys do so much more beneficial work for the world than any government, I have mad respect for you and your work. Thank you so much for saving so many of these lovely animals. That first pup really made me smile. The second one is like me when I'm at the dentist, so I can totally relate.

Great rescues, as always, but I keep picturing the one that got away -- I'm sure the OCN Team also has that one in mind and will soon be back to try again. I look forward to seeing another successful rescue on the Point!

The opening scene, with the surf providing such buoyant fun for playful seals is a joy - as long as there isn’t manmade dangers floating with them. Thank you team OCN for another rescue ❤️🇦🇺
