I like the paint too! I read years ago that they painted the movie-car(s) gray primer, then over-thinned black lacquer (1:2 instead of 1:1?) and poured it along the tops of the fenders and doors, letting it run down the sides. Looks like they used that technique with this car.

Back in the mid 70's my Monza ran in the high 11's. It was what I drove on the street every day. It wasn't the most "freindly" street car to drive but if you looked at my competion at that time (hemi cudas, superbirds, etc.) it wasn't all that bad.
@wilburross97092 жыл бұрын
@@sbf_fox2434 They were looking to grudge-race someone for money at that track, so they were sandbagging. It would cost you money to find out how fast it really was! Then if they were smart, they would only beat you by a fender so someone with a faster car would think he could beat them, and so on...

People might just be pointing out the inaccuracies in order to help the owner get the perfect repro. Attacking people who point out inaccuracies is cynical. Jealousy, or not having a better car doesn't mean that people with a more thorough knowledge of the original car can't therefore have an opinion. If a repro isn't absolutely right, it's absolutely not right. If it was a Hyundai with a 55 body, it would be clearly wrong. Inaccuracy is all about extent.

Gawd how I despise those smarty pants who know everything better. You meet them at car shows, and you meet them on youtube. Even if this clone was 100% to original specs they would find something to criticise. "Meh, no hood-pins on the trunk lid." "Meh, not the right engine." " Meh not the right axle." Rather than farting in your arm chairs, enviously belittling the efforts others make, show that you can do better!
