by the way I meant to mention before that I have preached for years about clamping capos and tuners to the head stock muting the sound. talked to Tony Rice about this and he pointed it out to me. you will never find a picture or video of Tony having anything clamped to the head stock.

That's crazy holding down on the headstock. I've never heard of that before but I could definitely hear a difference.

I thought the same thing the first time I learned this 👍

Awesome, those are nice guitars. One of my friends had the D15. I was binge watching Randy Shartiger's channel and saw your guitar on there. I'm glad I watched it because now I know about this channel,.. awesome. I subscribed and looking forward your lessons.

Hey Frank! Nice, glad you found the channel through Randy. I’m a bit fan of his videos too. Always entertaining and informative.

Yes! You can hear on the video the difference in sound when you have your capo on the headstock. Great video....and Randy Schartiger is a wild man! 🙂 I watch his videos all the time. I love Martin Mahogany guitars.....I have a 1963 D-28 that my Dad bought new and also a 000=16GT....but I really want a 000-15M.

Wow I bet your 1963 D-28 is sweet. Congrats! I’m jealous

Great video. Would you say the flexibility of having both is better than just getting a standard D-18 ? I'm looking for the best all round martin dread i can get (with a 1 3/4 inch nut). Im looking at either a D16e (the GT is no longer made) DSS-17 or D18.

Would you take a D-15M over a 000-15M for country music singing/playing?

Just bought a Martin D15.... my first guitar’ now I need some lessons and then customize it with a Bone Bridge and Pins...thanks for posting that link and thanks for sharing your thoughts on the other Martin. Any Good Tips For My Fingertips......hey, that could be a song title.
@countryguitaronline7 жыл бұрын
For sure, you can't go wrong with the bone bridge pins. The fingertips will get pretty sore for a while if you're just starting out. I can't remember how long it takes to build up calluses but won't take too long if you stick with pretty regular practice. I'd try to do some strumming every day if you can and you'll be good to go. Good luck with it! Let me know if you have any questions as you're working through the lessons

Which one you think is better of those 2?
@countryguitaronline Жыл бұрын
I like them both, but if I had to choose I’d go with the D-16GT. I just like the overall feel and tone, but both are great for the price point. Can’t go wrong with either.

Do you practice with a metronome? If so, how often and how long in a day? I try to practice with a metronome every day and after a couple days it gets so boring to me and I lose motivation.
@countryguitaronline7 жыл бұрын
Hey Ben! Yeah I hear you there...metronome practice is pretty boring. When I'm learning a new bluegrass tune that has a lot of melody line picking, I'll usually practice a bit with the metronome. I think it's good to do, but honestly, what I do most is practice along with songs on the radio. I use Spotify and play a favorite playlist on shuffle and practice my lead and and rhythm over different songs in different keys and speeds. It still helps me develop better timing and it's also better for ear training than a metronome. That's my take on it anyways!
