Two Month Update - Americana Chickens. Our new Americana chickens are now two months old. They've grown so much and have a real unique look. At two months old, they are about half way to laying eggs! Check out our two month update and let us know if you have the Americana chickens in your flock.

The Americana is a new breed for us. These cute little breaded hens are a beautiful addition to our flock. Have you had the Americana in your flock?

We have them for the first time this year, too. Ours are about 3 months and they have the fluffiest cheeks and butts!! Ours are a little more on the skittish side, too, but they aren’t mean to the other chickens at all and they’re very curious.

@@Gunsmokefarmstead Our Americanas stay to the outside of the larger group and tend to stay together as a group. It'll be fun to see them mature. We love fluffy butts!!

I love my Americana Pickles! Absolutely beautiful and I just got my first two blue/green colored eggs these past two days at 19-20 weeks old. She will jump on my lap for pets but doesn't like being picked up like you said. Her and my Sapphire Gem are definitely my favorites!

One of my favorite breeds. I have Americana Easter Eggers and Americauna tried and true. My girls are my best and most lovable breed. My queen is an Americana EE and she has the best leadership. My other girls stay with me whenever I’m outside. Seriously my favorite chickens. We have five … all different colors. I have one lavender and lays the most beautiful blue egg… my little Indiana Jones. She very outgoing. You’re gonna love this breed!

They’re one of my favorite breeds. We are getting some next round so we have green and blue eggs again. So fun. Ours in the past seemed smarter than the rest, which can cause trouble 😅

🙂Don't have any of the crosses yet but I'm sure they pick up a lot of the characteristics from the Ameraucana. Those I do have. Nervous as a bunch of shot cats that jump at their own shadows. lol Have to say they are a very different breed from other chickens. Very interesting and enjoyable none the less. Very sweet and quick to come and hang out with you but as you say, not much for the touchy feely stuff. I find it best not to push the issue with them and now and then you'll find one sitting in your lap or setting on your shoulder. Very slow growing. I've got 8 pullets and a rooster. Of those a couple of the girls are getting some color in their combs and will likely be laying sometime soon. They were hatched on or about my birthday Feb 10th this year. Mine don't mingle much with the other birds and tend to stay to themselves. The other birds just kind of look at them like what are they? lol Yours may be not so much like that being a cross? I think you'll enjoy them. They stay plenty busy grubbing and exploring.

Our experience - good, reliable layer. Dense birds (heavy for size), and first to pant in the heat as we have the blue bell variety. It will be interesting how they get along with the rest of your flock. Our orps get along with everyone, but our lorps really dont like the americauna. My pick would be americauna over australorps, and I dont think I'd mix them again.

Love my Americanas. I have 4 girls and my rooster is 1/4 americana as well (he has the beard). One thing to watch for, Americanas (at least mine) are smaller than other breeds, and tend to get picked on. My hens at the top of the pecking order have pulled out the beard feathers on my americanas, so they have naked necks. Just a heads up to you if you see one missing beard feathers.

We've never had the Gold Star. Black Star, but not Gold. The other 15 are ISA Browns. I went for total production!!
