I think a great analogy is to look at the gemstone market. The raw product has value but not as much as the finished product usually. We take the raw product in and try to extract the most profit out of it. It takes a lot of work some people are willing to do it some people are not.

Hey Tech - when you ran the eBay store full time and had thousands of items, how would you go about going back and price checking old listings? Would you do them individually or just do big markdown sales for stuff listed and not sold for a long period of time?

Yeah manually update all of them unfortunately lol

The main thing I struggle with is knowing what will make money and what wont, how did you learn the brands/ items that are worth a lot without having to research everything individually?
@CoyoteCombat20 күн бұрын
There are no shortcuts. Research and product knowledge is key 🔑
@technsports18 күн бұрын
A lot of it is individual research in the solds on ebay and terapeak
@dariano5618 күн бұрын
There are no real short cuts to researching, but here are a few effective ways to get the most of doing it. (Note, I'm going to use Under Armour for multiple examples, but this is not a real reflection of its market value of the brand. ) 1. Reverse engineer your research on ebay. For example, say you typed in the brand Under Armour on ebay. From there set the listings to Preowned condition, then go to sold and sort by price highest. From there pay attention to what is being sold at the highest price, and more importantly why. Is there a key word that keeps popping up? A unique looking logo? Let's say you kept seeing this random Bull logo showing up on Under armour listings. What is this bull, why does it keep showing up on most of the sold Under Armour clothes? From here we can go back to the search bar, type in Under Armour "Bull". The quotation mark is important as it narrows down the search to only showing listings that will have the keyword bull in it. From here we can learn that this bull is part of a model under Under Armour called Under Armour Project Rock. From here we can research further what Project Rock is, or simply be satisfied knowing if we see this Bull it's a Project Rock, & it's worth more money than a regular Under Armour. This same type of researching is useful for identifying nuances in brands, keywords etc. If you know how to set it up, you can even get a good idea of the sell through rate of a particular keyword or model in comparison to the entire brand itself. For example say there are 100 Under armours sold in 90 days. You refine the search to show "Project Rock". Out of the 100, 75 of them sold with Project Rock in the title, this is a strong indicator that this is worth getting as it will more than likely sell quick with that keyword (if it applies to the listing of course). 2. Another way is if you have a consistent route that you do, and you take the time out to look at every single item on the rack of shirts (or whatever your category is), pay close attention to what brands keep consistently showing up on your route. Chances are, most of the items have no value. But some of those brands that you see that consistently show up may have nuances in either the style or model of the brand. Try your hardest to to make your brain curious about ANYTHING different you may see. For example. Say you see Under armour a lot on your route. Is the brand over saturated? Absolutely. However, pay attention to the styles. Does this Under Armour have camo? Does that camo say Realtree while others don't? Does it have a super hero print on it while other Under Armours don't? Does it have that Bull logo on it? All of these are worth more money, and often times have a better sell through rate if you know what all those nuances are. But it comes down to putting in those consistent reps to know and to expand that knowledge. It is overwhelming admittedly in the beginning, but I promise you if you even just dedicate 15-30 mins a day of keeping your mind open to asking why and being curious, all of this information will start naturally being locked in your brain. Once the front load hard work is done, then the money becomes easier and easier to make. I wish nothing but the best for you on your journey, and I hope this message helps give some encouragement! If you want this, you got this!

One last tip. Learn about and use Google Lens. It's one of the ultimate useful search tools if you are unsure about an item, logo, tag, and even qr codes found on modern pieces.
