Very cool match, interesting to see infernal being the race that is sitting back and trading efficiently while vanguard takes the whole map. I thought for sure vanguard would win with that many bases

The problem was army composition, if he had transitioned to Vulcan- med tech with atlas and hedgehog support he wins 100% the AOE mechanical healing from the medtech and mass vulcan is just ludacris against anything infernal can use, plus, the dash ability can actually save the vulcan from the pull or get them close enough to not care about the weaver pulll

@@odycz Big single entity units with a legion of gaunts underneath them, im not talking bio comp + 4 vulcans, im talking 8 vulcans all with the medtech mech buff, and exo/lancer, u research vulcan dash, and the weaver pull defeats its purpose, since u win by legit statchecking and gap closing every single vulcan to the frontline, also there is no such thing as big single entity comps with infernal, it doesnt work, you need either meat shields or DPS, every single large unit from infernals (not counting magmadon) are pretty much useless on their own

Really enjoyed the game. But one mechanic I hope improves is map movement and multi pronged attack or attacks from multiple angles. Right now it feels like the armies just bump head to head. There certainly is a cool push pull going on. But I'd love to see players sneak a counter attack. Or for infernal to get a good wrap around with Mags and hit a huge trample. Right now all the infernal units just derp on each other. Makes me appreciate army movement and multi tasking in SC2 more. Maps felt bigger and watching players dace their armies around sometimes each in 2 or 3 groups is awesome. I'm thinking late game PvZ where Zerg and Protoss are constantly trading bases and repositioning just trying to find a gap in the defenses. This feels like there is no maneuverability, especially for the infernal.

I think fights taking long, allowing for reinforcements, tactics like flanking with flaming imps and just test your endurance is a very positive thing. Fights in Sc2 lasting for 2 seconds and then gg was a major problem for that game

i do like how units can affect the terrain, like removing trees to open up a new path to a fight @10:56 at this stage of the beta, don't wanna see any nerfs, just go sicko mode and make every race OP as possible. balance will happen naturally the more fun the game is to play and more tools each race has

This game was amazing. I thought Luci had Theory on the back foot the whole time, like Theory literally didn't leave his half of the map forever. I thought he was just gonna get grinded down, but damn, he did it. The weavers are better at tanking than I realized, they were key.

I think it’s important to note Theory’s microing indiviudal weavers to consume for increased sustain. I imagine its quite difficult to find fiends/imps to feast efficiently.

I am really liking the slower pace of combat and greater variety of unit ranges. It makes it easier to appreciate the push and pull of fights. I'm looking forward to seeing how it shapes up as more stuff gets added.

Bear in mind all of that effort infernal had to do managing all kinds of different units and abilities and all vanguard had to do was basic stutter step micro, and it took infernal 24 minutes to wear it down. It's worth noting the vanguard player never tried multi-prong harass or drops, and with how slow weavers and hellborne are, the game would likely be unwinnable for infernal if he had done that. Infernal was never able to take map control, never able to pressure expansions, and never ACTUALLY broke through vanguards army until he had 2 dragons. He barely eeked out a win but he WAS on the backfoot the entire game in every sense of the word, and frankly his victory felt lucky.

Infernals seem similar to zerg in that they can sit back and chill for most of the game and aggression is up to the opponent. Its hard to say if they are the stronger race based on this match alone, obviously there are ladder stats to make that conclusion on. But it sounds like there needs to be a lot of thought process on how to control and hinder your infernal opponent better.

Ive yet to see Vangard win in high level play. Infernals are so good at turning the tides with infest it's crazy. You lose a unit then before you know it your whole army has been replaced with fiends working for your enemy. The hellborn having so much range and the abilty to keep moving unlike the atlas lets them sit back and pot shot for infinite value. I the exo ball really needed some more tanky units in the front to keep them alive like the lancers. Trying to manage hedgehogs for anti air is alot of work and i dont think worth it with the exos. The siege tanks the same but they offer more reward so a vit more focus on them probably would have helped.

I played at least 40 games total, about 50% win rate. I think its fun but its a water down version of sc2 beta 14 years ago. There are so many categories they need to improve on. Maps, fight duration, i think the balance is fine. Maps are really the worst part for me

As a former sc/w2/w3/sc2 player i have incredibly hard time convincing myself to play this game. I tried the open beta, just few games against AI and it feels off(more like pre alpha than beta honestly). It's like a mix of sc and w3, but the graphics are awful, animations are horrible, ui is dogshit, sound effects are atrocious and that wannabe zerg creep is just... holy fuck, does anyone there has eyes? It honestly feels like a game made by couple of friends rather than those who created giants like starcraft or warcraft. That being said, sc2 in alpha looked about as shit as this and it turned out pretty ok. I honestly hate the idea of this fucking dog being available right at the start and having ability to turn on 'flying vision'. The idea of creep camps is also dumb as shit. It worked in w3 because of heroes gaining xp and items, it made sense. In here its just... pointless. They at all cost try to make sc and w3 hybrid and i somehow feel like its a mistake(speaking of 1v1 ofc). The slower nature of combat is nice to see after way too fast sc2 combat but at the same time i fear it will often turn engagements into pull back fests like in w3 which made them extremely boring to watch. 9:28 also shows another issue, look at the 2 towers just hitting that lancer and basically doing nothing - how is that interesting thing to watch? Also looking at people from old blizz games and at their reactions it seems to be mixed reception at best as well. i really want to like this game but FGS has A LOT of work in front of them to turn this turd into something decent.

Agree completely, especially on the animations and sound. This game already has a very mixed reception, and once the newness wears off it'll take a nose-dive into obscurity. Clearly lacks passion and is just a "Great Value" Starcraft 2. I don't know why the developers thought this was the answer... it all comes off as pretty tone deaf. That being said, I'm sure Tasteless and others are getting paid to promote the game for now so at least they get that.

They need to change the infernal units to be more about fire and infernal and then they need to add a forth race and use some of these units, make it a bug / undead / nerubian race, because some of those units would be perfect for such a race.

The dogs are one of the worst ideas to ever put in a RTS. Its just annoying, its never interesting to get harassed immediately and if you never have a random spawn location on a map its just adding fuel to that issue. This game needs quite some work to round up these plainly annoying problems.

I've been a starcraft player and fan for over 10 years. This is the first Stormgate content I've watched. I didn't understand what was happening and I got bored very quickly and stopped watching after about 4 minutes. Please don't take this as a toxic comment, I'm trying to give you my honest feedback. This isn't a criticsm of you personally as a content creator. I'm just saying that there was nothing for me to keep watching because I didn't understand the significance of anything that was happening. Whilst I appreciate I could go off, learn the game and come back I would also add you're probably getting thousands of viewers like me who might be watching stormgate on your channel for the first time so I just want to provide genuine first impression feedback.

What worri a me most is the visual fidelity and the boring micro. Unit pathing is too much like Sc2. It doesn't look like unit s have any turn rate or anything that really makes them feel unique (think dragoons, cultures, probes and how different they all feel) For me it's still gonna be BW and Wc3. I'm really trying to keep an open mind here. So far I'm liki g Zero Space a bit more because at least it's something totally different

Feels like first days of StarCraft II: Nice to watch but would feel more like work than fun when paying myself. So sad these games where developed with esports in mind rather than all the casuals. If a long experienced pro like you @Tasteless_TV can't figure out what's going on what will a family father after 8 hours work with around 3 hours gaming a week feel in multiplayer? So I think Stormgate will also have a lifespan of around 4 years before slowly getting forgotten from the masses and staying with fans only. All while Starcraft 1 still exists. Because it was made with casuals in mind too. Or what do you think?

The saddest part about how half-baked Stormgate is in it's current form is seeing a bunch of RTS fans throw themselves at the game, what a total lack of self respect and self control they must have to be this attached to any kind of representation of the RTS genre. Frost Giant had their chance to release a compelling and interesting product and instead they've shown they are just lighting cigars with 500 dollar bills and slamming their nose in the "sugar bowl". Chance blown, this games gonna be dead on arrival.

Players must reject any form of Warp-Gate mechanic in Stormgate, it keeps Protoss permanently crippled in SC2, and would be stupid to bring that cancer mechanic to Stormgate or any other RTS.

As a Protoss player I understand very well how it's a double-edged sword, it's definitely neat, but forces a heavy handicap on my units because making these units appear anywhere on a map is too broken.

This game looks pretty budget tier, it doesn't have the polish or production values of past games. The animations are really janky and the sound design is really amateur and even annoying at times (SCOUT's howl ability). As a game it doesn't do anything new for the genre. It's unfortunate but I think it's looking like we'll have to accept that this isn't even close to being the game to take RTS forward and that we will be sticking with SC for a while.

Vanguard army isnt that mutch faster only Hellborne and Weavers are slower than VG bio army but if you want to use Atlas and Vulcans there is almost no speed difference. VG had 2 more bases the whole game and couldn't win. Why? because IN has an advantage in close fighting in magmadons, imps and shadow flayes and a long range advantage in Weavers, Hellborne and Dragons. The only real counter to these units is to get under them with bio but you can't because of IN close-range splash dmg . VG desperately needs something like a Weavers unit that can deal with single entity units at range. Or the Hellborne needs a change mobile long range splash unit is just silly. How mutch more restrictions have atlas? You need to be sieged and opponent can see where the shots will land.

With all units having half hp and only 1 dragon this would be alot more balanced and faster paced which would be alot more fun to watch in my opinion. Maybe make all the units faster moving too.

I want this game be epic, but for now it looks like SC2 in slow motion, is that good? I do not know why they refuse to limit the units you can take, like in BW you can only select 12 units, this means that we can have small army fights but in more places, I dont like the dynamic that we have for SC2 and in this game when the entire army fight. You can see how the armies cant even move correctly because there's a lot of them in tiny spaces, the fight will be better if small armies fight in space where they can be micro-ed and move more freely.

Yes, while I love Starcraft 2, it's battles can just end in seconds sometimes. It's not AS slow as Warcraft 3, sometimes things in Stormgate die really fast. Feel like they're going for some kind of middle ground where early to mid game you can micro and late game battles are a bit more decisive but not an instant explosion AoEs wiping out everything. Limited unit selection is very much a weird Blizzard thing and archaic. Even older RTS games let you select more units that Blizzard's old games. SC2 followed modern trend of not limiting things. It's not fun for casual play or new players. Having 10 control groups of units trying to clunkily move them around. As for unit movement and pathing. I think it's not working very well currently. Units sometimes path worse than Warcraft 3 and units often lose sight of and/or attack the wrong targets in the games I've played even though there should be room.

yes ... and ???? the tier3 units aint in the game, infernal just got a new unit 2 weeks ago that isnt balanced at all and so on ... balance is just not importent right now. yes infernals are op but people like lucifron can still do 90% winrate with vanguard so ... its good enough for an early build i would balance not even call state of the game at this point this data is a good point to balance the game around PS: calling balance out on a replay where a guy with a 90% winratio loses is also very strange
