In the lore, the city of Zaun was a trade hub along the Pilt River when they discovered caverns full of a gas that could be used in chemtech. Rampant industrialization resulted in the use of explosives to reach deeper pockets, but this destabilized the ground and caused parts of the city to fall into a sinkhole, the air filled with toxic gas and turning the river into poison. The portion across the river, which remained above the gas was renamed Piltover, and the wealthy immigrated there, barring the lower-class from crossing the river. The disparity of wealth caused conflict, and young leaders, the cunning Silco and the charismatic Vander, led a protest on the bridge that turned violent: Vi and Powder's parents were killed in the conflict, and seeing the dead, Vander became a pacifist.

Two things: 1 - Yes, the air in the underground is extremely toxic because of the mines and factories there, that's why the enforcers wear masks in there. 2 - that's mostly a theory of mine, but I think it's pretty solid: the reason why powders bombs don't work is because they don't have acess to quality gunpowder, and there are things shown in the future to corroborate that.

Might be, or she is just inexperienced. As the show is incredibly realistic character wise, a small girl should not be able to reliable build stuff from scratch like that. Later with more acess and experience it makes a ton of sense, though =)

Both cities have the same "base" height but one grows up and the other expands down, it is heavily inferred that most of the undercity don't have access to clean air, they survive by breathing heavy chemicals and fumes, and that only becomes denser and denser the lower you go

I was anti-hyped for this show because I refused to believe anything related to League could be as good as people praised it. Took me a while to give it a try and even when I watched it I kinda wanted to hate it, I was that petty, yet I was blown away anyway.

the really funny thing about League is, that almost all Media Projects related to it (the cinematics, Musicvideos + Songs, even the few Books and Comics they have, and of course Arcane, are really, REALLY good, very much in contrast to the game and the community. It really feels like League of Legends is just a Money Generator that Riot uses to fund the actual good products they want to make. Thats not the reality of it obviously, but it feels like that sometimes^^

First off, I just wanted to say I loved your reaction, thoughts and comments on this! I can’t wait to see more! As to your confusion at 30:59 the ‘upper class’ city (Piltover) and the slums (which contain the under city) are separated by a river. Said river has been polluted and made toxic by Piltover dumping various kinds industrial waste into it. This also why the under city’s air is less than good for you, and why enforcer’s that go down there wear breather masks. On a side note, i believe the bridges that connect the two areas (such as the one they ran and jumped across to escape the enforcers) are the same bridges that we saw become a warzone in the opening scenes.

25:52 - Both Piltover and the undercity are filled with inventors and tinkerers, but those in the undercity are impoverished and basically have to innovate using the trash and toxic chemicals that find their way down there. Thus, topside has prestigious universities while the undercity has junk shops and home-grown labs.

OH! this is a pleasant surprise! Arcane is one of my top favorite shows. Love pretty much all of your other reactions so I'm betting this will be a fun series to watch too! Riot/Fortiche released this show with 3 episodes a week originally, and that first week was pretty heavy for a lot of people. The 2 sisters in the show were some of the first characters I really played and it was fun because at the time, they weren't confirmed to be sisters, but there were many hints so it was pretty much a "confirmation without an official confirmation" kind of thing. Most of Arcane was not in any of the established lore, so seeing all of their backstories and history was a real treat, sort of akin to how Bleach is getting expanded material in the TYBW! Some of my favorite moments are super tiny details, which there are many that I've caught after rewatching or watching other reactors. Some of those details, like for instance the color of characters eyes as a way to portray their progression as characters, but sometimes even regression when they're faced with events that drag them down to their lowest Easter eggs they include from their short stories, other characters and even some items from the game shop.

Professional fighters, MMA and Boxers, have reviewed the fight scenes in this series and where incredibly impressed with how realistic they are in terms of the moves and how they are sequenced together. Basically over 90% of the fight scenes are what could actually happen in a real fight between trained fighters with just a few minor embellishments here and there. And that carries throughout the entire series.

You're one of the few who considers the responsibility of whoever was keeping that stuff in their apartment. I think you'll like E2. The two cities/halves of the city in LoL lore have more verticality. The artists grounded the show's city design in a more real-world layout, but it makes things a bit confusing because we wouldn't really expect one side of a city along some kind of river/canal/channel to have deep ravines that aren't filled with water which can be confusing. One of imo the few tiny flaws in the show.

about the solar system... "They" do have a starforging celestial dragon, who also forged this world: Runeterra - so technically they can have any star they want in the system xd But considering there is the solari and lunari, yes there should be at least 1 moon

Riot is planning to do more series and movies, so I really hope they are gonna dive into that in the near future, although a bit unlikely looking at the scale of such stories. I think they are gonna adapt some of the more grounded stories and characters first.

God I hate league as a Game, but Riot has definitely been trying to expand the IP in recent years, and honestly it’s been turning out pretty well overall in my opinion. The lore in the past could to be so confusing, and sometimes nonexistent, so it’s really cool to see them sort of “compound” it, and make sense of what was there, while adding new stuff in too.

@@storieswithstyle oh BOY am I excited. I almost never get proper engagement back from reactors. Let's go! Without spoilers of course. PART 1 So, to premise this - Arcane has probably the best story in an animated series since Avatar the Last Airbender, one could legitimately argue that Arcane is actually superior. And the writing is some of the best since Hot Fuzz, that comedy had a real tight script. The themes in this show are well constructed and explored, it's honestly a masterclass in storytelling in many regards. Which is why my criticism will be harsh. People today suffer from a consumerist mindset, they just watch stuff to be entertained in the most surface level way possible, which is why Marvel slop became so popular, but also went from decent movies to... well, slop. Stories still hold weight in society just because they have an intrinsic power that can't be totally erased even when reduced to their most primitive iterations. Consumerism doesn't want better literature, movies, art, stories, it just wants MORE of them, So they are put onto production cycles. This is literally why you have Hollywood churn out sequels, prequels, remakes, reimaginings of already existing properties, but they don't produce anything better than the originals, just more inferior copies made for nothing more than consumption. Just make stuff we already know people like, why try to make something new that might FAIL and cost us money! Arcane is actually something that is a surprise, because it stands in defiance of this trend and because of the seemingly not-promising origins of the story. Who could have imagined League of Legends would be the basis for a masterpiece in storytelling?? I've watched your channel before, you claim to be an author, right? You should understand these things then, which is also why my criticism will be all the harsher towards you, hence my original post. Reactors are all too often just proof of why the consumerist model works, they will praise and consume ANYTHING, no matter how terrible, and will excuse the terrible quality on the premise of it providing the most baseline entertainment, empty calories. It's frustrating. Moreover, they are so used to consuming the same schlock and are so disrespectful to the art of storytelling that they spend half the time trying to guess what trope will appear next. Me and a few friends of mine have a common phrase for this: LET THE STORY TELL ITSELF. Not even covering how inattentive people are, how they somehow get confused by the most basic exposition, or talk over whatever they are watching and posing questions the answers to which are being said LITERALLY AS THEY ARE YAPPING. There was a time when all stories could only be told orally and you had to sit and be respectful of the storyteller, however the reason you respect the storyteller is because you respect the story he is delivering. A book or a movie are storytellers in that sense too, mediums for the story, but idiots keeps disrespecting them, already listed a few examples of that off the top of my head. But then there are also reactors who are self-professed up and coming movie directors and authors - they manage to disrespect someone else's storytelling in all the exact same ways! However they also have their own distinctly unique manner in which to disrespect someone else's story and storytelling - they don't analyze what they are watching on the merits of storytelling as an art. Instead they start commenting on the stories and storytelling of others from the perspective of how THEY THEMSELVES would tell a story, moreover how they would tell a story that THEY WOULD THEMSELVES LIKE. In other words, instead of seeing the story of another, they start talking about how they want this story to be a story tailored to them personally. This is basically the driving force behind the worst kind of fanfiction. "Oh, this is a nice story, but it would be better if it was tailor made for me, so here is my shopping list of changes I'd make because that would make a better story because a better story is a story that's made for ME". There, the long preamble is over.
