Another day of exploring the fascinating city of Dhaka, the chaotic capital of Bangladesh. I start in Old Dhaka, visit the Dhakeshwari Hindu temple and Lalbagh Fort, then head for the newer part of the city and check out Dhanmondi Lake and Satmasjid Road.

A suggestion to the future tourists who are planning to come to Dhaka: Pick Friday or Saturday to roam around Dhaka city. Traffic will be much lighter compared to other working days. Also, the hustle and bustle at Old dhaka starts to get heavy at around 10 to 11Am in the morning. So, If you can start exploring early in the morning, you will be able to cover most number of places in Old Dhaka.

So far your Dhaka adventure has been truly amazing, very interesting and the music! After living in Thailand for many years it was nice to see you out on the Andaman, but this is truly another perspective and so unique. Thank you Gabe for your pursuit and delivery. It's eye opening to see the surroundings of everyday life in other places. Without being over judgemental of the different cultures, the respect you bring and honest approach of being in the moment. Always looking forward to your next adventure.

All the red double deckers.... surreal. The hustle and bustle is so enjoyable from the relatively quiet streets of my little part of London...I feel I'm on a rollercoaster, exciting and scary in equal measures. God you are brave, Gabriel. In 1990 Bangladesh had 70% people in extreme poverty now it has reduced to 4%. Bangladesh is expected to eradicate extreme poverty by 2026. China eradicated extreme poverty in 2020 while India eradicated it in 2022. However there are still poor families in China working in Apparel industry and waste recycling industry living in Inner City Villages making 500 US dollars a month. There are also poor families in India working in waste recycling and Apparel industry living on 300 US Dollars a month. However you can also find poor people in Skid Row, Kensington Avenue Philadelphia and Camden New Jersey.

Hi Gabriel, It's always good you travel through the heart of the city, you get a real perspective of what's going on in the city. Like most cities, there are always major construction projects to enhance the city's skyline indicating a change in culture and influences the city goes through a transition breaking away from the older traditional values.

You are still in the old part of Dhaka. You have been to only the old part of Dhaka that's called Dhaka south. You should also visit Dhaka north or the new part of Dhaka like the Gulshan, Banani, Uttara, and Agargaon areas. Dhaka has two city corporations Dhaka South (old Dhaka) and Dhaka North (New Dhaka). You will get so many bars in Dhaka north (Those bars serve alcoholic drinks). Have a good journey. It's deeply embarrassing for me as a Bangladeshi where our capital city is not ready or do have the quality (the roads and Infrastructure) of welcoming tourists especially from the west. If anybody wants to explore Bangladesh, then I would say straight go to Chittagong which is the most important city after Dhaka or Sylhet for exploring the rich historical beauty without having much hassle like in Dhaka. Last but not least, going to village wouldn't be a bad idea as there you can explore authentic natural beauty of Bangladesh and the people there are extremely welcoming.

Hey Gabriel!! This is Aunik from Dhaka. Good to have you in this city. It's messy in here, I know. But, if you feel like having a look at a "less messy" side of Dhaka, hit me up. I work at a top fintech company here. Today (Sat), I've got an urgent meeting at office, so I'll be busy. But tomorrow (Sun), I'll be able to spare some hours for you if you like. I live and work in the neighborhood close to the US Embassy and the American Club (and all other embassies are located here in clusters). And oh yeah, we can grab a coffee, if you like at North End right across my office building at Banani. It's Boston based, so you might as well bump into Americans there if you're lucky. And by the way, the hotel you checked in at seems like a rip-off, man. Just being honest. There are wayyyyy better hotels at that price over here, if I'm not wrong. Just felt sad and embarrassed to see how my country was treating you. And stay safe. And if you run into any trouble over here, don't forget to give me a shout out. I have got good connections by dint of my work. So, I can be able to help. Take care and stay safe.

Yes Gabriel you are from America... the continent that ranges from the north of Canada to the south o Argentina. If you want to be specific... you are from California in the United States of America.

In the subcontinent an American is better off saying he's from "America" rather than "United States" as most people understand and associate "America" with the US. It's less complicated for the common man and best of all it works.

Brother, you can go to Chalet in Banglamotor in south dhaka and blue moon or Loki in Banani area of North dhaka for bar experience. Try out Hunter, it’s a local beer. Cheers.
