Thanks Windjammer for helping us out! www.windjammer-... // The beautiful island of St. Lucia is our 65th country and 4th stop on this repositioning cruise from England to Barbados. We had a catamaran tour booked and planned to spend the whole day out in the sunshine circling the island. Unfortunately that plan fell through at the last minute, but instead we had an incredible day hanging out with locals at the market, eating the national dish, and then spending a beautiful afternoon at an all-inclusive resort flying the drone and laying in over-water hammocks! Not a bad plan B :)

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started traveling full-time January 10, 2016. While daily vlogging was not the original plan, we were having way too many cool experiences not to share every single day! Now travel vlogging is our full-time gig, and we feel like we have the greatest job in the world! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
We’ve pulled inspiration from several of our favorite travel vloggers on KZbin, such as: +Casey Neistat +FunForLouis +Jon Olsson +Mr Ben Brown, and any other talented travel vloggers that KZbin’s algorithm will hopefully connect us with ;)

I'm Saint Lucian and although I do understand why some persons in the comment the comment section think this video was slightly offensive, I have to say that I am glad that you guys were honest and blunt about your experience on the island. To travel here (St. Lucia lol) via cruise ship can be a hassle because of the Ports and the fact that all the FUNN happens in the out-districts and with limited time, you may not have the authentic Lucian experience. I hope you do decide to come over for a vacation though. All in all, thanks for your honesty in this video. cheers x.

Yes I agree 100% and the fact that Nate decides to walk through that again with his big camera filming what really no one wants to see...... AGAIN. he kind of asked to be extra hassled, then he tells Kara to slow down when he should have had his camera on his side walking quickly through that crap and get to where they wanted to go. His OCD quest to shoot everything anywhere is really going to bite him in the ass one day, I hope he matures and learns a little in the future.

@@secreteobsession3584 YOU are the racist piece of Elephant SHIT! not them. Nowhere did either of them mention skin color! YOU put that into play. If St. Lucians were Purple, or whiter than they were, they would have had the same take, because all you saw on these young people were THEIR skin color! I have been to several Caribbean Islands and yes, some islanders are very VERY pushy, and down right scary to some people. I find, that when you treat people respectfully, don't act like you feel they are about to rape you, and realize they are poor and just want your money (legally of course) all goes fine. Your comments about them deciding they "like Black people after they ate" was So offensive. Seems to me that your Mommy & Daddy taught you early on to- "Hate Whitey". Respect goes BOTH ways, don't forget that, and leave skin color out, there was no need for that....disgusting.

I like the fact that you regrouped and then found a nice local market to visit and get lunch. Getting past the crush of vendors pursing tourists is something we all have to learn when we travel. Everyone has to make a living and the vendors can be entertaining is small doses, but they also can get in the way of learning the true character of a country. St. Lucia looks beautiful and fun. Your drone footage is gorgeous.

I spent a week in St. Lucia in 2006 at the Body Holiday resort. It was wonderful. I found people to be delightful. Castries, where your ship docked, is probably the least attractive part of the island. Next time, visit the Pitons, Soufriere, and the interior!

You guys did the right thing. You were not comfortable so you went back to your rooms, did some research and ended up with a good experience. I am glad you met some of the locals who displayed what caribbean people are known for which is hospitality. The persons around the cruise ships are working and hustling for a living and some might come across as aggressive but at the end of the day Tourism is the main provider of jobs in many of the caribbean countries.

Yaaay! I'm glad you got to visit my country. I haven't even watched the vlog and some comments below are disappointing. However, I've watched all your vlogs up until now and I know you guys are always honest about your experiences and it surely is a tool to learn that it's not all peachy. Don't change that because we all have our own experiences but ppl tend to forget theirs when it hits the heart (i.e.ppl tend to forget their own biases, stigmas, stereotypes). We are all human and we all get disconcerted one way or the other given the environment we are in. Now that;s said let me watch :-)

Some people get so nervous when "island people" approach them to try and sell them something. That happens in every 3rd world country. It's how they make their living. It's all just part of the culture and the experience. 9 out of 10 they're not going to harm you. Dont worry about it and just enjoy everything else about the island.
@PlainVidz
@PlainVidz 5 жыл бұрын
@@robertjerald4931 True, but nothing more annoying than when someone (people on here) turn it into a Racial Issue. When Haitians...or Jamaicans (for example) are being VERY aggressive, I don't look at their skin color, for God's sake people on here need to stop stoking the fires of Racism. Racism stays alive and strong when People act like Racists BOTH ways. There was nothing wrong with this video, at all. My First experience with St. Kitts was terrible, people shoving baby monkeys all over us begging for 5 bucks, I finally bailed out and went back to my ship, I was on the Island for about 20 minutes. Now? it's my favorite stop. Was it because I met a few White Barmaids? NO!. It was the location, the food, the TIME I had. Many Blacks (like some on here) complain about Racism but they NEVER see themselves doing it. Shame.

What I have done that has been helpful for me is to pretend like I can't speak English. Even if it is just gibberish (I use this odd blend of German and nonsense) and they usually will leave you alone. I devised this at the Grand Palace and it totally worked. Only once did I get called out on it in Phuket later when a guy said "You very good actress!" I try not to use it very often because I love meeting people but there are a few places in Thailand that it got pretty aggressive and uncomfortable.

My wife and I went to st Lucia in 1990 for our honeymoon. What a cultural nightmare - We stayed at Ans Chastene and in castries on our second week. Soufriere was a bombed out village where my wife was constantly cat called and she isn't a model. Our first day in castries someone yelled "Hey look - a white bitch" Went to the windjammer for dinner and the bartender had unlabeled bottles that he tried consistently to get us to drink. Went to a jump up that looked like a racial uprising agains tourists. Driving from Castries to soufriere for our departing flight we went through numerous gorgeous village and banana plantations only to have natives stand in front of our jeep to stop us. I pretended to aim my car at them. There were a couple of great artists that also cooked their own lamb that we bought art from but overall St Lucia SUCKS -

I am St. Lucian living in Canada and I have been following your channel for some time. I own property there and visit often. What you showed at that particular port area is accurate. It's a pity your ship was not berthed on the other side which is designed for cruise ships. Because of huge demand for the island, authorities have no choice but to use this commercial port side. Looking at the situation from the perspective of some of those whom you first met, please understand that they are only attempting to make a living in often challenging economic conditions locally, exasperated by the temporary visit perceived as wealth, portrayed by these mammoth ships. After a "No thank you", you will have done your part. However, while you touched on a truthful aspect of landing in that area, none of your viewers should consider this a summation of what a vacation there could be like. It is very far from what represents a typical holiday there. I encourage both you and your viewers to SPEND TIME there in the future and explore the rich mix of culture, history, cuisine, music, stunning scenery and its people. You will find the experience most rewarding. Question: Did you film the departing night time shot from the ship itself using your drone? Keep on sharing.

Aren't these places unusually empty? It's getting on to winter in most places, and I thought they would be crowded. Did this years hurricanes put more people off? I know shows like Price Is Right and Kelly and Ryan, that give away trips all the time, are not promoting the Caribbean like they used to. Good time to find good deals?

I am glad you guys had a good time. I am from the Caribbean and my people can get very aggressive but there is always a couple of nice ones that will look out for you.

I've never understood the madness right outside of cruise ships on some islands. They must know they'd get more takers if they were polite. A ton of tourists end up going back to the ship. Shop owners/restaurants/service providers miss out on the tourist dollars as well. : (

Pssh hahahahahaha 🤣 sorry. As a st. Lucian and living there all my life, I couldn't hold my self back from laughing from: #1 the fact that you thought last minute planning would work, cause it never does...never...😑 ,#2 yes green FIGG and salt fish are our national dish and #3 the fact you just walked through the capital city Castries with no game plan. That wasn't smart😓

OK,so I must ask YOU! haha.....a person goes to St. Lucia on a cruise, one day, Castries is the drop, they want a beautiful beach and be able to walk back and forth from the water to a classic beach bar, have some good food.....where do they go?

Thanks for showing St Lucia! We were there in April for my birthday and we absolutely loved it! It is hard to find info about how well the island is recovering from the hurricanes. Looks like the cruise port and the south of the island are in pretty good shape.

I randomly found you guys about a month ago and thought these people have a cool channel. However now I have shown my wife your channel about two weeks ago. This is where everything changed and we now watch at least one of your videos a night. Also we where in St. Lucia this past September 2019 this is my first month of trying to Vlog with my first real camera that is not a GoPro. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGG9nKCJaq56qKc . You guys do an awesome job at vlogging and we are looking forward to your next video in the van without an explosion. lol
