I should not even go there ....but some butter in that oil would be....awesomely decadent. my bad.

Darn good idea, will have to try this and experiment with different natural flavorings. Thanks a lot.

A tasty looking healthy snack Dennis! Thanks for sharing. I usually make roasted & seasoned nuts around the holidays, but why not make them throughout the year! They are so easy to prepare.

Thanks Mea. They're an excellent snack, besides being healthy (so much better than Fritos - which I love). I keep two jars around all the time - one of almonds and the other of pecans. Like you said, they're easy to make. Thanks for the comment. -Dennis

Yum! I’ve recently been buying pecans to snack on and hadn’t even considered roasting them... until now. And I love smokehouse almonds. I also love your magnet tip! Terrific video! Thank you!! 😊

I love the cinnamon & sugar roasted Almonds they have at the mall around CHRISTmas.

Thanks Mark. I haven't tried cinnamon yet. I like the idea. Were the almonds sweet? -Dennis

I need to update the page. The name Mobile Home Gourmet came about when a local TV station asked me to do 45 shows for them. Together we came up with the name. -Dennis

Interesting to see your use of that hickory product. This winter in Green Valley, AZ, at the local pecan store they were selling hickory seasoned pecans that were totally addicting. Will look for the hickory stuff you used and see how it works on pecans. Thanks for sharing these good healthy snack ideas.

Thanks for the feedback. I have bought smokehouse almonds many times. They really are good. Now I make them myself at a fraction of the price. I think I mentioned in the video that Wright's Liquid Smoke is sold in the local grocery store on the same aisle as the bottled marinades. Amazon sells it too. -Dennis

So how did the smoked flavoured almonds taste ? By the way loved your idea of the magnets on the tray ! Thank you.

That's a great snack idea! I have some raw Pistachios and will try the recipe with them. I'm assuming the oven time/temp to be the same.
@MobileHomeGourmet5 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried pistachios yet, but that does seem like a good idea. The nuts are smaller; so roasting time might be less. Thanks for the suggestion. -Dennis

Looks delicious . How would you store them ? in the refrigerator or just on the shelf or in a dark cabinet?
@MobileHomeGourmet5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment Mary. I keep the lids on the jars to keep bugs out; otherwise, I leave them out. One jar is usually on my desk in my home office, the other might be next to my chair where I watch TV. The jars are empty in about a week or so. I hope that helps. -Dennis

Mobile Home Gourmet LOL how can you make them last THAT long !
@MobileHomeGourmet5 жыл бұрын
@@marym2440 It is amusing, but I literally count. Usually I eat five and then stop. Within a few minutes the craving goes away. Sometimes I eat ten. If I'm really hungry, I eat a meal. It works for me. -Dennis

What type of oil? I would think olive oil wouldn't be good.
@MobileHomeGourmet Жыл бұрын
I keep two types of olive oil in my kitchen - extra virgin, which I use only for flavoring (it burns easily at high temperatures) and "pure" olive oil, which is refined. It has a high smoke point. I used that oil on the nuts, but almost any high temperature oil would be fine. -Dennis

Thanks for the vid! I try to stay low carb most of the time but in my moments of weakness I usually succumb to Pringles - two flavours hence two cans. So my work around is almonds, stevia and spices sauted in butter. It gets me over the hump, but I can’t help but think they put something in those store snacks to addict you. I want Pringles now just writing about the bloody things....
@MobileHomeGourmet5 жыл бұрын
Like when I come home from Costco with a 60-count box of "snack stack cups" of Pringles. Yep. Been there. Mark Neff mentioned almonds seasoned with cinnamon and 50hellkat2 mentioned butter. I'm thinking clarified butter, cinnamon and stevia flavored roasted almonds and/or pecans. It's worth an experiment. Thanks for the inspiration. -Dennis

I did the experiment this evening. Pecans, clarified butter, 4 packets stevia, ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon. Delicious. -Dennis
