The song deals with criminals and the media, where criminals in the media can become pop stars. In films ...... but also in reality due to the greed for sensation transported through the media in real crimes. It's about our media's obsession with and glorifying of tragedy. The first part of the video is them accepting a media award for the incident portrayed in the rest of the video. You can see that the whole thing was a set up for the cameras; they didn't take the money, didn't plan to escape, and knew the one guy was going to detonate the bomb regardless once all the cops, witnesses, and media were there to see it happen. Rammstein does have amazing live shows and videos of them, but I have to say the official videos like this are definitely worth attention because they always have a story to tell and a lot of effort goes into each video. Regardless of which you actually react to, I would suggest checking out both kinds of videos to see how good everything is that they do. "Sonne" is another really good example of this.

We did but we saw a version of the song live ( and the song quality was so so) we are actually thinking about re-watching the official video because we'd like to see what they did for that one, it has been recommended to us a lot!

The song really is about control and having the fans in their grasp. They can do whatever they want, and the audience will see them, hear them, understand them. But then, Till says he does not understand them! So very clever, the power that they can hold on us, but do they really care?

Song is basicly a communication between the band and the fans. The video portraits this a bit, as you see these criminals communicating with an audience. In the end Rammstein always works with pictorial language. No matter if we talk about lyrics or videos, it never is what it seems in first place. They draw a picture, and the interpretation is your job.

No. This song is about the press trying to bring down Rammstein for over two decades like mad (mainly with Nazi accusations) and earning money with reporting about that band at the same time. And despite of that Rammstein won all those prices and the audience cheered for them. It is only recent, that this ideological witch hunt of the press calmed down a little.
