This is a masterpiece. Sadly it came out just after my "little sister" got diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer. I remember singing it to her & explaining it. She's now passed on & I can't hear this without sobbing cos I remember the last time I saw her. We were having lunch & it came on the playlist. She came over & hugged me. & all I could think was time, please stand still. But of course it doesn't. And it's now 10 weeks since she's gone.

My wife didn't like Rammstein in the past - she tolerated it and listen with me. But when I played "Zeit", she had the same reaction like Suesue - first listening to the lyrics, like she was frozen, then the tears came rolling down. And from this point in time she loves Rammstein. She now got the point of the deepness of this band because my wife is very thoughtful (I hope that is the correct English term...) as well. Again, love your reactions - because they are honest and not like a well studied a role play.

And truth. Life. I’ve lost my parents when I was 27. Lost my hubby three years ago. Makes me cry every time this video, this song. But on the other side it’s absolute perfection. The core of this masterpiece, imho, is the sentence: 'Ein jeder kennt... den perfekten Moment' (eveybody knows/realizes/recognizes, the perfect moment). Mostly, we know this perfect moment, to be in the past. Now, that we look back on it, we can see: it was perfect. We had our loved ones. We where all there. And that moment: was perfection. But then: it passed. And now, we are only left with a faint memory. Another way to look at it is as a reminder, that THIS is the perfect moment. Always. THIS moment: together, with your loved ones. IS the perfect moment. And we should open ourselves up for that moment. Soak it in. What you should see is 'parabol(a)' from Tool. The official version, or the fan based version with the lyrics, both will blow your minds.

From Klaus Neumann: Three creatures of destiny are named: their names are Urd (fate), Verdandi (that which is to come) and Skuld (guilt; that which should be). Their names are considered to be Norse equivalents of common medieval notions of time in the form of personifications of the past (Urd), present (Verdandi) and future (Skuld). The song deals with the theme of death and the transience of life. These motifs are expressed within the video through various images and metaphors. At the beginning, when the band members are drowning in the sea, Lindemann sings about the river of time, in which all people are trapped. This metaphor is visualized by the drowning in the video. In the war scene, where children first play war and later a battle actually takes place, the band sings about the inability to stop the future: "You can't summon the future, you don't tolerate a stay". In the same place where children used to play, they now die in war. The song expresses the wish that the beautiful moments as children should always last. The women who give birth to their children at the Sandstrom represent the cycle of time. In the same place where the dead daughter will later appear, children will also be born. The farmer and his daughter are separated in a moment that seemed perfect for them. The father tries to stop his daughter, but fails. Accordingly, he mourns the moment. The character in the video is clearly identifiable as Death by the black cloak. However, the video also equates it with the concept of time, as the passage of time means everyone has to die at some point.
@asator27462 жыл бұрын
The three creepy figures are called time keepers by Rammstein. Doubtless an referring to the Norns. According to the "Völuspa", Norns (Nornir) are three immortal female figures in pre-Christian, old Germanic/Nordic mythology who sit on the banks of the Urd River at the root of the world ash Yagdrasil and spin the threads of fate for gods and humans. (The three sinister figures in the Rammstein video undoubtedly provide an analogy) The names of the three Norns are: "Urd" (fate / that which has become) She is an old woman who constantly looks back over her shoulder at the time long past. "Verdandi" (Present / The Being) She has the form of a young woman who is always looking ahead. "Skuld" (Future/The Becoming) Unlike Urd and Verdandi, Skuld is an unpredictable force that has no love for gods or humans. She wears a veil and holds a book or scroll in each hand. Her gaze is always directed in the opposite direction of Urd's gaze. The Nornir spin the thread of Fate and life for every human being, and when that thread is severed, the human's life ends. Remnants of this mythology can still be found today in the Germanic/Nordic language area. There is a commonly used saying for a person who is in danger of death. "His life hangs by a thin thread only".

Zeitwächter, Yes, that's what Rammstein are calling them on their Zeit-Tshirts. But according to the direct Faust-references in it, they probably have had the the Parcae in mind... I really like watching you two you’re very nice and charming! May I suggest the song „ohne dich“ which is an amazing ballad there should be a version with subtitles.

Glad I found your page ..perfect reaction... honestly I don't know how Till comes up with the lyrics..he's on a whole different level..the band are a machine. They touch on real life tragedies... They can be funny..but all said and done they are IMO the greatest ALL AROUND band in history...the first time I watched Zeit when it premiered I didn't have sub titles on but didn't need them...cried like a baby...thanks you guys for the great reactions

Hey :-) I like your reactions. ;-) You have a true reaction and not a artifical. Thanks a lot for your heartbreaking story of your life! This song so strong, so heavy and so emotional. I will told you everything about the lyrics. I think its the story of the song. This song is about time "Zeit". You can say livetime "Lebenszeit". You have seen the big figure at the beginning. Thats the death. "Wir sterben weiter bis wir Leben" (We´re dying until we live) "Sterben, lebend in den Tod" (die, live unto death) "dem Ende treiben wir entgegen, keine Rast, nur vorwärts streben" (we are drifting towards the end, no rest, just striving forward) "am Ufer steht Unendlichkeit, gefangen so im Fluss der Zeit" (on the shore stands infinity, so caught in the flow of time) Now you see, its our time. We llive and we die. The Scene in the woods, you dosn´t see the meaning of the words you read! It starts with strong mens and ends with small babys! But, we hear: "Warmer Körper ist bald kalt" (Warm body is soon cold) "Zukunft kann man nicht beschwören" (You can't summon the future) "duldet keinen aufenthlat, erschaffen und zugleich zerstören" (does not tolerate any reverberating, creating and destroying at the same time) "Ich liege hier in deinen armen, ach könnt es doch für immer sein" (I'm lying here in your arms, oh it could be forever) "doch die Zeit kennt kein erbarmen, schon ist der Moment vorbei!" (but time knows no mercy, the moment is already over!) It means the great time as a child. A child can be everything. This moment is to short. No child has time in their life. Who can childs be a child? In the video you see the death took the babys back through the sand (in german we say "Staub" / dust) back to the beginning, the birth. The last scene, i think one of the hardest scenes, we see a couple sit in the nature and the woman knows its her time to go. But we hear: "Wenn unsere Zeit gekommen ist, dann ist es Zeit zu gehen" (When our time comes, it is time to go) "Aufhören wenns am schönsten ist, die Uhren bleiben stehen" (Stop when it's most beautiful, the clocks stop) "so perfekt ist der Moment, doch weiiter läuft die Zeit" (the moment is so perfect, but time goes on) "Augenblick, verweile doch, ich bin noch nicht bereit!" (Wait a minute, I'm not ready yet!) This means, in every life there is a moment that should never end. illness, old age or love. Every moment of our lifes are important for us. We don´t have enough time for everything we want to do. This lyrics have such a deep meaning, but it is hard to understand. "Zeit" Time is such an expensive commodity, of which little is available. This song means this. We don´t have enough but we need much more of them.

Thanks for your reaction, it was deep from, your hearts and very emotionally. I have seen many reactions for this song but only a few really got touched by it. I love this song, even though it hurts because while listening and watching my head starts thinking about all the loved ones I had lost.............Greetings from Germany.
