Thanks so much for doing this. That's a lot of work, but really good data. Much obliged. As noted on the other video, VP Racing 40:1 is what I've been running since I quit using Stihl Ultra. I thought VP was a good choice, but this really eases my mind. Thanks again!

Can I make a suggestion - you have a board on the wall with the oils you’ve tested stuck on or written on and rank them from best to worst so we can see what you’ve done and how you found it? A bit like Top Gears car lap times around their track haha. Or even the oils name and a few columns after it where you score it on a few different factors like price, top end lube result, bottom end lube result and burn cleanliness?

Good information on the oil dosage shortage in some manufactures oil containers and the benefits of the 40:1 ratio. I can also attest to how well the loctite anaerobic's work. I used the #638 compound on a bearing that was a slip fit into a Dolmar 5100s pto side case. Saw has had no issues since.

Very good three part series, I've been running 40:1 Saber for years and no complaints. Would you consider the subject of how clean these oils burn on a longer term basis...if that's possible. Thank you for what your doing for us Rich👍
@richardflagg3084 Жыл бұрын
I've got two customers that run Saber at 40:1 and it still burns as clean as whistle. I did some performance on a 395xp after he ran it for several months and there was only a whisper of carbon. It's one of the best oils money can buy.
@ssholedАй бұрын
Bought this a couple of months ago because I wanted a decent brand of oil and this seemed perfect for the amount and the price. Glad I picked a good choice. I’ve been running 50:1 as I have forever but I’m switching to 40:1 because I wanted my dad’s old jonsered to live forever. I actually just looked at the cylinder through the exhaust tonight and she’s looking good. One super short skinny line off to the side and that’s it. Not worried at all.

Extra oil 🛢 is a lil extra insurance for the bottom end 👍 Spark plugs are cheap... compared to needing a whole new saw. Ran 40:1 as a kid 30years ago, probably go back to it. Thanks for the break down 👍😎

32 to 1 in our two stroke engine testing, and subsequent teardown and measurement, was about the best all around option of wear rates in modest RPM, non race engines. 50HP Kart engines required at least 24 to 1 to prevent piston scuffing. A note here, I notice some piston scuffing on many of these videos. That is wear.
@richardflagg30849 ай бұрын
Yes. There's been some wear, especially at the manufacturers recommendation of 50:1. I believe that's part of what I'm trying to get across. 40:1 with a high quality oil seems to be the bare minimum. Honda HP2 and Saber have performed the best to date regarding clean burning and exceptional lubrication in the crankcase.

I have been using this stuff and recommending to people for a while now. I have a small repair / resale business. I put it in all my 2strokes that I sell. I have been mixing 45-1 ind no problems at all even when it was 105° at 10:30 in the morning In south Texas not one clingy bore or piston yet and you know it hot when you can see the heatwaves coming off the saw. It reasonably priced and effective.

So glad you did this VP test . This oil is available at Wally at a decent price . I am running Pond water at 40:1 with 87oct pump 10% alcohol with Rislone 4747 Hy-per Fuel Octane Booster . I have 2 more bottles of Stihl oil left and then will go to VP because of the FD rating . I always run pump 87oct with the booster and have great results . Running MS 250 Br600 Stihl Vacuum and brush cutter . Can't wait to dump Stihl oil for VP or Saber at 40:1 .

That lil bump on the exhaust side of that donor cylinder is to help with easy starting a high compression saw. Seen a rip saw video they did one on a 500i cylinder they were porting.

Out of curiosity, have you already tested AMSOIL Interceptor? I think it is also FD rated as well, I know you did Dominator from one of your previous videos. I bought a quart of both over the summer to give a try since finding SABER locally is like looking for hens teeth. But I never got the chance to fell any trees this summer. Not that it relates but I have a couple of vintage air cooled 2-stroke dirt bikes and I want to stick with one oil between those and all of my saws once the bikes are rebuilt and rideable. :)
