Thank you very much for showing us those kits !!! It gives us a couple more ideas for cook kits....options, you gotta love 'em !!! I will be going with that Silver Ant stove set, to add to my cook kit. May even do a video on it, and the rest of my stoves/cook kits (so people can make fun of me and see how much more stuff that I carry unnecessarily...LOLOLOLOL !!!). Keep up the great work !!!

It is good to go through the old gear and use something you have not used in a while. The GSI Minimalist is one of my favourite pots just perfect for a coffee or a nice cup of tea and that little pot grabber is very useful. I always take that with me for other pots also. That grabber is so popular that they sell them separately also......Take care, Bluefin.

Hi Wade, thanks for all your hard work bringing us such excellent videos, much appreciated 👍 I have a couple of kits very similar, GSI with the same burner (bought from the States!!) and a Lexada 750 without the bale hoop using the Evenu Ti meths burner, I should really drill a couple of holes in the GSI and put in a wire handle, but hay!!! I recon I could almost smell the coffee! Best regards from across the pond in deepest Dorset 👍🇬🇧🇨🇦

Cool kits, nice and compact.. myself, I have always used my TRANGIA kit.. compact and versatile. Fry pan, 2 pots, kettle, handle, alcohol burner.. can use in high winds… 18 yrs still looks great

Wade - good set-up. I too use the GSI Minimalist with a Trangia stove for a small kit. For a second vessel / cup on the trip, I always carry a Swedish folding cup.

Thanks for the video and review of your kits. I have several of these small kits and rotate through them as needed. Sometimes I have to simmer so take a Trangia type stove; sometimes just need to boil then usually take a lighter titanium burner. Nice to have both options. If going real light will even take an Esbit rendition. All great fun.

My kids bought me the GSI cup with the neoprene sleeve years ago. Before I even used it the cat chewed the pot gripper. I found the whole set up inconvenient _ used it once. So I took the neoprene sleeve off, cut 2 slits in it and it fit of my favorite cup with handles. The GSI lid fit the cup too. I keep things in that cup with the lid on and put that cup in a larger billie pot with my Brunton Raptor burner. The whole kit along with a small butane canister fits in a 12cm canvas Zebra bag that I bought separately. Of course now I carry my new Firebox stove also ( Stainless version - did first burn last week btw - love it! Thanks Wade for the recommendation) . The neoprene sleeve on my own cup with the lid really helps my hot drink stay hot for a long time.

Used the Minimalist for a good year doing boiled water / single pot meals. Eventually decided that the little pot-gripper as the only handle was a recurring problem having burned myself or dropped the pot several times. Found a 750ml cup with handles that fit the minimalist lid and pieced together parts to make a franken kit thats been working great ever since.

I have a bit of a stove addiction (kinda like my axe addiction). I really do love making these homemade alcohol stoves. I've probably made 100 of them trying to prefect the design. Nothing like making your own gear. And after doing some long distance hikes/ kayak adventures, I've come to appreciate the benefits of knowing how to build the stove, so that when there's problems, I know how to repair the stove.

I don't consider the axe collection an addiction, exactly - we need all those axes. And they come in handy as gifts or barter once in a while, so they are sort of an investment, really. The more axes you have, the better, if you think about it right.

Perfect timing Wade !! My GSI French press gave up the ghost last weekend on an overnighter. Loved it but found the coffee lost temperature too quickly so now it's time to find a new one that maybe holds the heat better. As for the compact cook/coffee kit I have to say my favourite is my GSI Glacier boiler and cup combo. Light, boils up quick and cleans up with very little effort. Great video ! Cheers 👍👍🌲🌲🌲🇨🇦🍻

I run different. I use a titanium solo pot and a Svea 123 stove that fits absolutely perfectly inside the pot. I hate burning my lips so for my enjoyment do carry a double wall titanium cup but if you are stronger than me the solo does come with a single wall cup

Wade, enjoying this video,enjoying a nice cup of coffee ! Fantastic ! You have inspired me to rummage through my gear again and grab my GSI Minimalist, I haven’t used that in years ! It was on of my first kit purchases. I remember I would flip the lid upside down when it was on the stove, it was just easier to take on and off while coming to a boil. Have a great week brother ! Silver Ant seems really dialed in, but the GSI looks good too. Making coffee is serious business, especially out in the wind and rain. By the way, it looks like we are getting a fairly substantial solar storm this weekend. I think that we are near the peak of the sun's 11 year cycle, so have more stuff coming our way from the sun than at other times in the cycle. Might be a good time to fill water bottles, charge batteries, and fill the tank on one's vehicles. Might be nothing, but could be some digital glitching, so who knows?

👍 Nice comparison, thank you for sharing. IMHO the titanium kit wins in a walk. Faster boil time (more efficient stove), pot has handles and a bale, and can include a smaller cup. More useful set up for more than just coffee. The GSI kit is cheap and looks cheap.
