Same engine manufacturer, different model engine. They were mean engines when they came out, but no they're more nostalgia than anything else. Today's 4 strokes put out more power in the same or smaller displacement than these old DD's do.

I believe that was one of the V8 Detroit Diesel conversions. I've seen them on a handful of tractors. Runs good, though!

Was that a 5010 or a 5020 with the Detroit conversion? The turbine-powered tractor (looks like it was an A) is kinda cool because of the engineering involved, but I'd rather it still have the old two-cylinder engine.

Deere had some of the most robust drive lines going. An 8-71 Detroit at 300 won't break a 5020/6030 tractor.
