you know i've never had a blade on so tight that i couldn't get it off with the tool. all you need to do is snug them, the rotation keeps it from coming loose. also, using the lock button helps a lot.

I have. I dropped the grinder while using a flap wheel, which caused the wheel to seize and torque the nut down so hard that the wrench bent before it could break the nut free. But I just dremeled the nut off like a normal person.

@@thomasostrander4835 mmm, well you know there is usually a spot to use a wrench on the back side, if you cant use the lock, and you can put a pipe wrench on the nut pretty easily. you might argue that you have a cupped disk and that might be true, but i would say that you could just break the disk off, since it's probably junk anyway. you could also use a punch and hit the nut at an angle to get it started.

Then there's also the point of if they didn't use the stupid attachment for the impact to put the disc on in the first place, they wouldn't need the wrench or an impact to remove it. I've quite literally never used one of those wrenches to install or remove a disc on a grinder at any point in my life. Never needed one. As you said, just press the lock button, and turn. Voila! 😂

I'm pretty sure stuff like that has a button to lock it to replace the disc and if not a tool it grabs the bottom of it and holds it in place so that you can use the tool to remove the retaining nut. If not you could even throw some vice grips underneath of that thing to hold it still.

But just in case, I have my grinder wrench zip tied right to the electrical cord. Your never gonna lose it that way. It's always handy. It also makes me unplug the grinder if I need to use the wrench. Which is a really good idea all on its own.

I never need a tool to remove a disk. You just press the lock and grab the disk. There is enough leverage on the blade to unscrew it. If you need the tool to release the blade then you are overtightening it, or stalled out the motor on the workpiece.

I genuine need this tool. Have old large grinder with out locking feature, need to hold the bottom washer with wrench while trying to operate tab wrench on nut that been abused over the years. With this i can get pressure on the tabs and still get torque. Have plenty of old half inc sockets so i will be making this next time i need to open that damn nut and replace the disk. Havent used the grinder much since its so pain in the ass to open. I have another small grinder where the locking button has yeeted it self to next county so couple be handly there too.

My uncle taught me you actually don’t need a removal wrench at all. Just hold the cutting disk with a rag or a glove and twist while holding the lock button. I always hated looking for the stupid wrench!

I have been using angle grinders for years, and I have never used a wrench to tighten it up. You just snug the nut against your disc then you take the disc and the nut and hand tighten them together.

The fact I favor the most in this clip is that, when he used the proper tool for the job, he had the output shaft locking pin pushed in prior to him acting like he was giving it all the beans but it still wouldn’t break loose. Insert power tool, push locking pin in, (maybe), but not into its detent, expect pin to fall into detent as all the beans rush into the impacts motor causing disk to instantly spin at thousands of rpm, tease the finger remover 5,000 with the taste of blood, continue filming and upload knowing damn well that right after the impacts first rotation of the blade, he realized, he fuc… up
