I arrived at Irpin, May 31, 2022. Irpin is immediately adjacent to Bucha but south. I met a taxi driver at 12:00 in Kyiv and he drove me to Irpin. It did not matter that I didn't enter Bucha. Irpin was enough. Irpin's destruction was evident too. I have a couple of videos of the taxi ride from Kyiv to Irpin. I took many photos of Irpin, which coincidentally is the sister city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA. Sister cities adopt one another and exchange good will between the two. In 2022, after the war started, the Mayor of Irpin visited Milwaukee and Mayor Barrett, who later was appointed as the United States ambassador to Luxemburg. Matter of fact, Irpin's mayor visited the Ukrainian Church in Milwaukee, which is a Catholic Ukrainian Church. This church helped raise medical supplies and clothing for refugees and soldiers that were air expressed to Ukraine or its designated country. It raised money for Ukraine. It hosted three doctors from Ukraine who trained at one of the hospitals in Milwaukee to learn, it is fair to guess, more about gunshot wounds and surgical techniques. Mayor Johnson, who is up for re-election, tomorrow, April 2, 2024, pledged as it turned out junk to Irpin after the war started. As a lawyer, I was interested in what Milwaukee had donated and as it turned out, it was junk. I spoke to the police officer who had a "ton of vests" and batons at the police academy. I met with him at the academy after having talked to him on the phone. I wanted to know what they had. He never showed me his inventory and never offered to do so. Mayor Johnson had had the chief of staff take responsibility to deliver the vests and batons to Irpin or Ukraine. The vests and batons were military police gear. I then went to Ukraine in July of 2023. After returning from Kramatorsk, Ukraine, I was able to contact an administrator at Kyiv's main Administration building near Maiden Square. He provided me with information so that the batons and vests could be sent to Ukraine, but first he wanted to know if the property was valuable enough to get the tax and customs charges waived before transporting them. When I got back, the new chief of staff had taken over and the attorney responsible for delivering the vests and batons had failed when Poland officials could not help. I knew too well that Poland was a waste of time in trying to get the delivery worked out and that Ukraine officials and volunteers who were in Poland could help. Matter of fact, in December of 2022, I delivered items to a Ukrainian volunteer at a refugee center in Warszawa who then delivered new generators to Bakhmut. I got a photo of the soldiers with the generators in an email two weeks later. I was all connected to Ukraine. The new attorney for the police told me that the batons and the vests had been disposed of because they couldn't get them delivered. The property was taking up space and they had to get rid of it. This despite my talking to the Police Official responsible for the property a couple of time, and as such, earlier on. I had wondered about the quality of the vests and the batons that Mayor Johnson had donated to Irpin and Ukraine and it was junk as it turned out. Obviously, the Milwaukee officials don't have international relations backgrounds or connections or know people who can help to get the job done. Nor did Mayor Johnson donate any humanitarian aid in the form of money to Irpin or to Ukraine, once he realized he had failed miserably with the vests and batons. As far as I could tell from speaking to the attorney for the police department it was just sweep under the rug. When I spoke to the Chief of Staff for the police department, an attorney, I was completely dissatisfied with her response. It was awful. She was awful. It was as though she didn't have one ounce of understanding about what Milwaukee's sister city, Irpin, represented or stood for, nor anything about the mayor of Irpin's good will for Milwaukee, and as such, Milwaukee's in return, nor the feelings and wishes of the entire congregation of the Ukranian Church in Milwaukee, not to mention my own personal efforts in Ukraine. I cannot vote for Mayor Johnson tomorrow because he breached his promise and I have concluded that he intended to donate junk to Ukraine. Garbage.
