Rolex GMT Master 2 126720 VTNR Affectionately known as the Sprite or the Riddler. This watch has been in my collection for two years now. So, how is it doing? Do I still wear it much, and is it a good watch?

I got mine in July on the Jubilee after waiting 2.5 years. 15 minutes after getting 'the call' .... We got a call from the hospital to get there ASAP as my father in law passing away. So went from a high to an extreme low in minutes. But the watch is linked directly to him.... He was a keen gardener so the green links to that..... And I wanted the watch because I'm left handed and have always worn my watches on my right wrist. Love and miss you Fred. It's a beautiful watch...... A definate keeper.

Nice one Mark! Beautiful piece. I’m fairly careful with my watches but when they pick up odd scratch or two it adds to the story of that watch and absolutely agree that they are meant to be worn.
@TheRandomWatchDudeКүн бұрын
Definitely. I dont go out of my way to scratch them, but when I see a few squirlies on the clasp and scratches on the bracelet links I'm ok with it.

Mark, firstly as it’s NYE in a few hours want to wish you a Happy New Year ! , I have throughly enjoyed your content throughout 2024 and since you’ve started your channel!. I’ve been exceptionally lucky this year and received a couple of calls from the AD ,the last call was just 6 weeks ago for the GMT II 126720 VTNR the call totally took me off guard. I’m right handed not left handed but you nailed it by indicating it’s different and unique and that’s what drew me to the watch when placing my EOI ! It’s a phenomenal watch and wear it often , it’s made to be worn and not kept in a safe as you say ! Looking forward to seeing your videos in 2025 ! All the best mate !

Thanks very much and congratulations on getting the call for the VTNR. It's a special watch in the GMT line-up, and the whole Rolex catalogue so we are proud owners of something special. Thanks for the supportive feedback. I considered winding things up with the channel a few weeks back, but am enjoying the content creation now more than ever, so will keep it going and see what 2025 brings! HNY!!!

Beautiful watch, I have the same one but on jubilee bracelet. I do agree with you that oyster bracelet on Rolex sports models is the way to go

Thanks Mark great review! I’m trying to figure out which GMT to go after, it’s a tough call with so many options. I do own the Starbucks sub so that really scratches the green itch, otherwise I’d be all in on VTNR. New Bruce Wayne is classy, but I feel a proper GMT has some pop of color to help it stand apart from other monotone watches. Leaning toward the BLNR Batman on oyster, any advice?
@TheRandomWatchDudeКүн бұрын
It's such a difficult decision isnt it. I think the newer gray and black GMT is quite dull, and they should have kept the bezel all black, like the original GMT 2. The grey and black doesnt contrast well enough IMO. If you've discounted green due to the Starbucks sub, then personally I would go Batman on Oyster. I had the Batgirl and it's a spectacular watch. The blue really pops, more than the blue on the Pepsi. I let the Batgirl go, as the jubilee bracelet was lovely to look at but too blingy for everyday wear, and so I would go Batman. The Pepsi is a great option but I don't think it's quite the everyday wearer that the Batman is. The Pepsi on Jubilee is a safe queen and special occasion watch IMO

@@TheRandomWatchDude thanks Mark! That’s kind of what I figured. The Pepsi has for all intents & purposes, become the new Daytona. Last time I saw a guy wearing one was at an airport; he was decked out from head to toe in Vuitton (like $1000 shoes) - that was all I needed to see to never want a Pepsi. The Batman oyster has a bit of exciting blue color, but it’s still obtainable and can be blended into the common man’s wardrobe. CHNR is a looker, but I’m not going to wear a gold watch that often. As you said, it’s important to wear them after all! Happy new year!

My wrist swells up and down pretty drastically and man, it's hard to go back once you go on-the-fly microadjust... It's definitely a blessing

Wonderful watch, I was offered one while on the waitlist for the Pepsi and bought immediately. It was one of my personal favorites but when I got the call for the Pepsi just recently I moved on to fund the new purchase. I found it to be a fantastic watch for anytime you could wear sandals or a Hawaiian shirt.

Can you please tell me the differences between the Joker vs Sprite.? Thanks for sharing your adventures.

I'm not familiar with a watch that's nicknamed the Joker?

It's great that you actually wear it the way intended on the right wrist. I was offered different Rolex's before I got the one I wanted too., Exp 36 and Maxi case Sub which I declined. Ended up with latest Sub which is very nice. Liked the idea of a GMT master for holidays but too similar to Sub, and the Exp 2 is too big/heavy for travel and has no glidelock. So a slam dunk when the FXD GMT came out and bought that.
@TheRandomWatchDude3 күн бұрын
@scollyutube ooh nice the FXD GMT is one I'm keen to see in the flesh

Do you also own a Pepsi GMT? I’ve just purchased a pre owned Pepsi and when I compare the bezel with my VTNR I noticed the teeth on the Pepsi bezel feel quite blunt. They also look quite rounded under a loupe. The VTNR is way sharper. Both 2022 models for reference.
@TheRandomWatchDude14 сағат бұрын
@frandevereaux that's an interesting observation and I can't say I've noticed a difference between any of my bezels. I have noticed subtle differences in the edges of the clasps, though, and I think it's just batch tolerance variations

I have the jubilee one and it's really comfortable on the wrist, I prefer it to the oyster as I do not like the shiny centre links which scratch easily!! Like you said a matter of individual choice. Enjoy!!

Thanks for the video! I love the honest content! I'm an avid follower now. It's a great watch, but hearing your journey, specifically needing a "buying relationship" and the sales associate still needing "approval" to sell you a GMT, disgusts me. For those who subject themselves to this and think they're otherwise not deserving of a 'Rolex', I admire their determination. It would be either a self-inflating (VIP) or humbling experience. Personally, I don't think any watch is worth it. Here's hoping the buying experience has or will improve.
@TheRandomWatchDude3 күн бұрын
@@ohbennyboy thanks for the feedback! The buying experience is a massive negative in all honesty. I'm at a stage now where I can't be bothered with it all, but that's only because I've got what I wanted 😅

Another great video and here's to a tremendous 2025. I have a question for you: I'm awaiting this watch from my AD... I own both vintage and modern subs and I use the bezels for timing a lot of things.. do you reckon that a person can fairly easily use the GMT bezel as a sort of timer in a pinch? (in the manner that one uses the Sub bezel to time things) ?
@TheRandomWatchDude2 күн бұрын
To be honest, I've tried to use the bezel for timing but it doesn't work well. The bezel itself doesnt rotate in 120 clicks like a dive watch. It's more like 24 clicks so you will be lucky to get the bezel to line up with the minute hand when you need to.

I always wear all my watches on my right wrist. But it is more comfortable to wear a watch with the crown pointing up the wrist than toward the palm. Therefore I think I would prefer the standard GMT than the Sprite.
@TheRandomWatchDude3 күн бұрын
I agree, I too prefer the crown to face back up the arm so it stays out of the way

I also prefer oyster to jubilee (my wife is the opposite and wears her 36mm dayjust on jubilee) ,it’s just somewhat more purposeful and less blingy

Yup I like this watch but I’m waiting 2-3 more years because refuse to play this ridiculous AD game and Rolex grey market prices are silly
@hapkidoroy3 күн бұрын
It’s only going to get worse if they discontinue it. FOMO will be real and the prices will go up if you can get it at an AD do it. I got mine in 61
@hemantishwaran57413 күн бұрын
@ I think that people will be spending less and also so many other watch options. I just bought a VC overseas and can wait for Rolex to clean up their game because I’m very happy with my watch collection

If you wait a few years you will end up paying 20% more as there are price increases every year. My suggestion would be to buy a used one, or a new grey market one. More expensive now, but cheaper than waiting.
@TheRandomWatchDudeКүн бұрын
Hello I agree. If this model gets discontinued it will go up in price and demand
