I have the yellow scheme. Thing lands on it’s own, and does rolling harriers like butter. I learned “rolling no name” maneuver with this plane, which is one of the trickiest maneuvers ever in more complex 3D flying

Awesome review! I so appreciate the honesty that comes with valid input from a modeler that pays full price, the same as us average guys. Just started assembly on my first PA, the Addiction XL, and I'm also sold on the lightweight quality. The Ultimate AMR 60 will definitely be next.

To be fair, we'd say the same things regardless of whether it was sent to review or if we paid for it. We use an impartial review system that keeps us in-check and doesn't permit biases. All aircraft of a specific type are reviewed using the same set of parameters. If they don't hold up, they don't get a high score.

You are exactly right about hobby companies at the end of the video. Those are all great for beginning pilots. But at a point, your skills will exceed those planes capability. I know where this is heading. I see an xtreme flight plane in your future.

We actually have a review coming up of the EF Extra 48" that our buddy Ciarán (the channel's aeronautical engineer) purchased last year. Jon put it through its paces and had quite a bit of fun with it, but the gyro was set up a little too aggressively on the pitch axis so we'll have to cover that in the vid and talk about why it's important to spend time tuning gyros if you're going to fly with one.

• Two new captivating color schemes (classic schemes available too)! • Ailerons size increased by more than 30% for even more aggressive 3d performance and enhanced roll rates. • Multiple construction changes in different areas for a refined production precision, result in a stiffer, stronger, and more precise plane. • New CF servo arm design, updated control horns and reinforced wing strut promote maximum wing stiffness which leads to better precision and better tracking during high-speed flight! • Now with maximum response and wing authority, we are pushing the AMR 60 flight envelope even further!

You said that you wouldn’t recommend this as a first balsa 3d plane - so what would you recommend? Full disclosure, I have my eye on the smaller PA Ultimate when I move up from foamies.
@TwoBrosRC8 ай бұрын
Before moving to a PA airframe, we'd recommend that you try something that takes way less work to build. PA models take at least two days on average to complete. They're a lot of work for a new-to-wood pilot, who might get discouraged heavily from going wood again from a bad landing that wrecks the fuselage or destroys the motor box. The OMP Bighorn is a really good intro to wood airplanes, and it's pretty inexpensive too: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eX_Zo4aDqMeYZ6s
@mattmcbee71098 ай бұрын
Sweet! Yeah, I’ve watched your OMP Bighorn video a few times. It looks like a lot of fun, pretty amazing how abruptly it kills all momentum.
@IceMan20358 ай бұрын

The package we used is listed in the description, which is the iPAs Pro Plus. Hit the (non-affiliate) link to PA's website and you can see the equipment it comes with.
@IceMan20358 ай бұрын
Yeah I checked it out still a good price for the pro version
@waynemiller60708 ай бұрын
Great plane. You're obviously very impressed with it. I am too. If you're running the pro package it looks like you paid close to $1100 before tax and shipping. I started building a Carl Goldberg ultimate biplane about 12 years ago. Back then electrics weren't that good. I'm finally finishing it. And turning it into an electric. You're right, battery placement is a pain. I am rebuilding the entire front of the airplane out of light plywood and balsa and not using the plastic cow that would've made battery installation nearly impossible. I'm expecting my aircraft to be between 7 and 8 pounds. What is the flying weight of this one?
@TwoBrosRC8 ай бұрын
Shipping in our case was free. Precision Aerobatics is local to us in Chapel Hill, NC, so we took the 30 minute (one way) trip there and back from Cary to pick it up. The flying weight of the Ultimate AMR is 4.85 pounds. It's incredibly light for what it is.
@waynemiller60708 ай бұрын
@@TwoBrosRC wow, that weight pretty much guarantees that the Precision aerobatics plane is going to fly way better than mine. Still, I'm chomping at the bit. A friend of mine is coming over today to help me with the pull, pull cable system for the rudder.
@waynemiller60705 ай бұрын
Carl Goldberg ultimate is done and ready for maiden. Weighs in at 8.8 pounds though. And it's only 54 inches. Can't wait to fly it, but I'm already thinking that I'll be buying one of these anyway. 😂
@florentinocamposjr15408 ай бұрын
Do you have gyro on it?
@TwoBrosRC8 ай бұрын
Yup, the AS3X system in our AR637T is tuned for this plane. Probably could use a little more adjustment on the priority though.
@emersonb57648 ай бұрын
No hate for using a gyro, but I’d like to know how it flies without gyro. It seems modern model designers give up too early in the testing and development phase, they just get it close and let the gyro do the rest of the work. This PA ultimate design has been around a while though. I believe they know how to do one right.
@TwoBrosRC8 ай бұрын
It's significantly touchier without a gyro. The plane doesn't come with one. We installed a stabilized receiver because we prefer having augmented stability, especially in 3D airframes like this. Gyro or not, it will basically do inverted harrier passes hands-free with the CG at where we fly it.
@CarlosPerez-ne3kx8 ай бұрын
Hi Jon, great flying and video. I'm just wondering why anyone would put a gyro on a PA plane. I have 2 small addictions, a medium size one and the xr52 and all fly super stable without any help from a gyro. I do agree with you on how tedious all the epoxying is. Another thing that bothers me about PA planes is that you have to pay extra for the SFG's, servo arm extensions and cone...geez...those three things should be included wih the plane. Other brands include them....
@waynemiller60704 ай бұрын
Yep, as highly regarded as the Carl Goldberg Ultimate BP was, it is not really a 3D plane. Very heavy and it has some erratic flight characteristics at slow speed. I'm on the waiting list for one of these. As much work as I put into the conversion to electric, I would gladly accept the price of the motor, esc and battery to put towards this. :)
@TwoBrosRC4 ай бұрын
Uh, do what now?
@waynemiller60704 ай бұрын
@@TwoBrosRC sorry John, I'm referring to an ultimate biplane that I started building a couple of decades ago and finally converted to an electric and finished. It weighs in about 9 pounds. I'm happy to unload that plane for the price of the motor, ESC and battery and put the money towards this Precision Aerobatics! I'm on the waiting list. I'm not that picky about color, I just don't want the silver one. So three out of four are perfectly acceptable.
