Your video raises valid points of areas that could be improved upon, but there are inaccuracies regarding the complete facts about the B-1, its updates, and testing, which happened to be the most visible rc jet being tested in the public spotlight. since your information is solely sourced from RCG, Despite being informed of inaccuracies, you chose to continue with the video for ratings. While your videos are generally high quality, this one presents one-sided information, hopefully raising questions on what you’re really trying to accomplish since you say the jet is amazing. The Turbines RC pitch is humorous, especially after BH denied an affiliation attempt by you, but it now seems like you gravitated towards them with a vendetta, they fell for your pitch. Heres some Clarification for the viewers. BH, not Turbines RC, suggested addition and creation of brackets for the kits to assist in potential repairs of wing sweep attachments caused by extremely bad landings, non-flying incidents like wings being hit during transport or being kicked while in the pits, and the largest concern, improper insulation/overtightening of hardware, all of which are not manufacturing flaws. Why do I say all of these situations one may ask? Because these are the exact situations being presented as warrantee claims. You all know who you are. Jon, You suggest, and use Motion RC as a prime example of announcing a flaw and resolving it. Yet, they're not perfect either 🤫 but an NDA prevents the truth. Ill just say F-18 or the current issue of servos jumping center and uncontrolled jittering. But wait you’re also now friends with motion rc even though you used to talk trash on them too. Someone else mentioned that on the motion post with you on it. I guess affiliations is how to get you to be nice. Now to correct your misinformation, upon the first possibility of a manufacturing flaw being suggested at the wing sweep attach point (pic of paint possibly in a crack or void in the plastic), BH made a public announcement immediately to have customers inspect an area of the wing before flying the aircraft, this resulted in only one customer contact us for support, this particular contacts issue was determined he over-torqued the screw and broke the brass nut loose. With this only contact how could it be a flaw if nobody contacted us based upon our pre-inspection request? several months without a claim went by so we removed the public announcement because Xfly was inspecting prior to them being packaged. Trying to say we are hiding a defect is false and another attempt to smear BH. The brackets are not pre-installed due to their intended post-crash/incident repair use, created several months before the initial released jet we’re completed. This bracket creation was because one of our team pilots flew an prototype B-1 at Top Gun with a dead battery instead of the fill battery he intended to use, and had to land short of the runway, causing his wing attach points to break. We required a resolution to fix them without having to replace wings, and the bracket was created through communication with xfly. (Before turbines RC even had a jet)The brackets were never intended to be pre-installed attempts at preventing the wings from breaking, as we had not experienced any of them breaking with normal flying ops or testing just during a crash. However, when people saw the brackets were available they decided to add them as a precautionary installation item, which is a great idea if they so choose to do. The fact that the info used to base your video was from RCG complaints and nothing directly from BH or Xfly is appalling; we all know that RCG is a place to rant and complain to try and collect followers to support the injustice that is said to have happened, fitting your video's theme. You could have easily contacted us to verify any of the claims but choose to not contact us which is shady reporting. So let’s get this straight. You have not had a wing sweep issue, all of your facts are other peoples facts, you have not seen a B-1 crash in person, you have not seen a wing sweep fail in person, You have not seen a B-1 wing sweep broken in person and you never contacted us as to verify that there is an issue or isn’t an issue? No, you're just another RCG warrior trying to get back at BH for not loving you and your channel. Your facts are all someone else’s situations that we probably addressed or resolved their concern. These so called facts may or may not be a different story than what they informed us of. Now to address your gear getting jammed, its obvious your gear was getting gummed up from the crap shot of a runway you're using. This is also not a manufacturing flaw but wear and tear from flying on a makeshift runway and then complaining about damaging your gear. The tight fit is intended to keep the jet from swaying all over the place like the FW B-2, where you can't keep it straight no matter how much you try. If extra slop was added into the gear area then you would just complain that it was too sloppy so no way to win this one. However I seem to have missed the reviews on all the other brands out there with gear issues like sheer pins or mounts breaking loose, loose grub screws or e-clips coming off? But I guess they will be next in line for the smiting well if they also aren’t affiliated with you. I assume. Before you released this video, you should have verified you were 100% sure that your situations mentioned were completely true. Well, I’m here to tell you that you are wrong in the majority of your content. Just because it’s written in the RCG doesn’t mean the situation is what happened there’s always two sides to a story. Which this is a perfect , The crash example in your video where you see the jet in the vehicle was countered with the customer providing us with a slow-motion video detailing a misjudged flight path where the pilot commanded the airplane into his first wing sweep configuration, Then, immediately upon the wings finally reaching max wing sweep, ended in an unavoidable collision with trees. If it was a manufacturing flaw we would have given him a new plane. However it was clearly not this example also had nothing to do with wing brackets because the wings operated correctly. You claim that we don’t care about the customers and us providing quality products to them but you’re failing to understand because you have no clue is that we have continuous conversations with X-fly and all of our brands in improving their products based upon any and all customer issues and we go out on a limb to correct any issues. The reality of the hobby is this, there are bad companies but there are also bad customers that lie so they don’t have to pay for their mistakes. This is echoed from many of my Friends that work CS for other rc companies, looked upon as the best of the best. Remember 99% of all crashes are pilot error and why you film everything in HD to make your case for a claim at any company. At BH we have no regrets in the decisions of claims that were presented. We appreciate our customers and by keeping claims honest is how we keep cost as low as possible for everyone.

Nothing is stopping Banana Hobby from participating on RC Groups or other community-driven forums and providing their side of the story. It's been largely crickets since neither Solt or Lamb provide any further replies to the relevant threads. We're a voice for the community. We're not journalists and are not required to source "both sides of a story". Especially if we don't work for you or aren't affiliated with you - and spent our own money to promote a product that you sell. With regard to Turbines, we just reached out on Instagram and asked if they'd work with us. They agreed. Not much of a vendetta there - most companies will work with a channel our size by politely asking. That's how we've established all of our affiliate arrangements. MotionRC had similar issues with customer service in the past. They committed to resolving them. They didn't come on KZbin and leave an angry 10 paragraph rant accusing us of having ulterior motives. With regard to our runway, the B-1 is the only jet out of something like 30 we've flown on it that had any issues with the gear. Given the sample size, one jet having an issue while many others don't says a lot more about the B-1's gear than it does about the quality of the runway. If it can't handle ugly pavement, how is it supposed to handle other types of pavement and/or grass? This just comes off like you're trying to deny a warranty request nobody made. This kind of response is not a good look. Take it from someone who has worked in several companies in a PR role - when you see negative feedback, take it and improve in the area that the complaint is focused in. Don't push back and try to have a "mic drop" moment. It makes your company look petulant. There are legitimate criticisms of Banana Hobby in the community - and we gave you constructive feedback instead of just tearing your company down. Other channels wouldn't have given any praise for the model whatsoever and would have directly ripped into the people who work at BH. We know you guys can be better than this. Please put the ego aside and take our feedback and your community's feedback and make your next release as problem-free as possible. Spend less time on bizarre social media strategies and more time on testing these planes thoroughly. We want to see you succeed - we don't want to see any company in radio controlled aviation fail.

Thanks for letting me know about the wing mech being week, now i will have to check mine. Mine is for sure an early release. I have about 50+ flights on mine and love it, love the way it flys and it for sure brings a crowd to watch it fly and people just love to see it. I use the SMC 6200 in mine all the way back and get a solid 4 minutes of flight. Great video. I use the AR8360T in mine with my IX14 and my settings are very similar to yours. Flys so gracefully and love it with wings swept back. I haven't had a problem yet with the main wheels yet getting stuck but for sure will be lubing them now.

The gear issue you showed reminds me of my own issue with my X-Fly Alpha jet. After several flights, one of the MLG started to bind and got very stiff, preventing it from rotating 90 degrees during retraction and binding up. Only after removal, pulling the pieces apart and sanding the shaft that was meant to rotate in the housing did the gear regain normal behavior (I'd tried adding oil before removing it, but it failed to relax things enough to put things right). I believe the X-Fly tolerances are just too tight and with just some dust, there's not enough room for things to work (I fly off a "decent" paved runway... not dirt or grass). This is NOT to say the gear on the Alpha jet isn't good; it's EXCELLENT in it's robustness and form... actually seems over-built for the 80mm guy it's supporting! It's just that the tolerances are tight and has lead to issues. FYI

First run planes usually aren't bad. The Timber SWS from HH is absolute perfection, for example. XFly is a relatively new manufacturer (though we suspect FMS makes their planes based on telltale signs) and probably should have put in a bit more engineering work - and better QC testing.

12:00 when you mention air getting in the gap between the wing cover and fuselage, I take it you're referring to what would be the HML/OWF on the real plane, the Hinge Moment LImiter/Overwing Fairing. It's a mechanical section that clamps down to close the gap when the wings are extended. It's like an elongated clamshell with a relatively soft gasket to provide a sufficient seal. Of course this would be too complex and weighty on an RC plane. I assume this is what you're referring to, and then you said the canopy came off? It's too hard to see in the video, even at .5 speed. I'm still watching, so hopefully you'll go into more detail about this as the video progresses. Thanks for reviewing one of the most beautiful airframes ever created. I sometimes miss working on them, but then I remember South Dakota, hydraulic fluid, strong winds, and not making much money as an enlisted airman. Thanks for the content. I may have to get one of these at some point if/when stock is replenished.
@TwoBrosRC7 ай бұрын
We thought it was the canopy, but it ended up being a wing panel. Watch a little further and you'll see the cause and the effect. Thanks for your thoughts!

@TwoBrosRC I just finished the video an hour ago. That's wild that the piece ripped off like that. With the right tweaks from the factory, it could be top tier plane out of the box.
@williamlane63746 ай бұрын
From my experience, my Xfly B1 and Eflite viper jet have the best most robust gear out of the box of all my planes. I've never had to fix or maintain the gear on them like all my freewing and other planes that I constantly have to fix or replace. My B1 and viper jet have over a 100 flights with zero gear issues. There my always go to flying planes because there always ready to fly. Yes I do agree with the stickers being a problem on the B1, but that's a minimal complaint. My b1 is a first version and have no issues with wing sweep mounts. Yes the B1 is a big bird, but for the money it's a very great jet and always brings smiles and attention from a crowd. Not trying to compare it to a freewing F14 but it's much better made for sure especially for the money with no mods needed to spend more money. My freewing f14 twin 80 is a money pit, like double the cost and still don't fly right when speed is at full with the new 2150kv power system, like the f14 airframe can't handle all the power and drops the left wing at full speed

The fact that this jet is still sold with a poorly designed integrated gyro is also not good at all. But if you want it - follow our setup. One thing I'd like to see is a comparison of Crow and normal flap aileron mixing on approach. From an aerodynamic perspective, I don't understand the point of Crow.
@TwoBrosRC7 ай бұрын
Full span flaps generates more lift and drag at lower angles of attack, making it useful for coming in slower while keeping the nose lower on approach. Crow creates aerodynamic washout at the wingtips, which can force stalls to begin at the wing root instead of stalling the entire wing, maintaining stability at lower speeds and maintaining aileron control at those speeds. In practice, we're not sure it's worth testing with this jet since it lands really well with normal flaps. Even full span flaps are really only useful for taking off quicker with this jet. Since the stabilators don't operate differentially (e.g. tailerons) having full span flaps enabled can create a significant stability problem on landing if you get into gusty winds.

You cant just wheel out some dude who is handy behind the sticks and in the workshop. Hi John. I just purchased a UMX timber X and I’m wondering (tryna get the most outa this) how did you set up the harrier flap mixing. Because I don’t have that left aileron on a umx plane. Any chance you may be able to walk me through this or something.
@TwoBrosRC7 ай бұрын
Setting up flaps should be in the manual for the plane. Once you do that, create a mix of elevator to the flap servo channel and put it on a switch you prefer, then adjust it so that the elevators being pulled cause both flaperons to move up.

Ohhh that makes sense. I tried this once already but I had the flap to elevator not elevator to flap. Thanks for the help!

I appreciate your videos and thorough testing you do. It's great info. But I have to say, I am truly amazed by the condition of the runway surface you fly off. I get that you might have no other place to fly, at least not conveniently, but I would never fly a jet model with such (relatively) small and intricate scale landing gear of of such a surface. All the fields I fly my EDFs off of are pretty much free of grit, gravel, sand or dirt and grass, and I just wouldn't fly an EDF if I couldn't count on that. Also, the shock load on the gear and it's mounts from hitting cracks in the pavement or other things like ridges of grass growing in the pavement is quite high. To me, the quality of the landing gear systems on these EDFs is actually proven because of their performance and reliability shown when flying off of surfaces like the one you fly off of. I also enjoy watching your flight test videos because you fly like I do and it makes it great to see you put the planes through their paces and answer all the questions I might have about how they perform. Thank you so much for that!

The worst part of this is that BH's mismanagement of the B1 potentially also hurts XFLY's image in the model aviation space as well. If XFLY does their corrective action work to create reinforcements kits and implement them on the OEM side, it is BH's responsibility to provide first run customers with at least the knowledge and information that those kits even exists (and that's before we discuss BH making the consideration of giving them for free or not; and in my opinion they should if XFLY is implementing the change by default on their end). I'm lucky that I have Bitgo and Hobby King to go to for my XLFY models (which are actually great models in my opinion), but if BH was the only model-shop seller to sell XFLY models, then I'd rather go buy from Amazon.

@@TwoBrosRC I believe that when companies either Motion, BH or FMS etc goes out on a limb with a new there application should be praised as it is there reputation & financial at risk. The arm chair Qb’s have not the risk and only the gains with such commentary pitting one vs the other. Yet I do appreciate the round about cleanup which followed thereafter. Outnumbered? You must live under a rock. Go Google "Reviews of Banana Hobby" and see for yourself. Go ahead! I first dealt with Banana almost 15 years ago. For many, many years, they sold inferior product, had inferior customer service. Their products have come a long way but their CS? Not much has changed. I still buy from them from time to time, BUT I do so with the expectation of products that will need work, some, A LOT OF WORK. As for CS, I expect to be on my own. When this Bone was first intro'd, BH's CS/PR guy was in so far over his head, he was drowning. He had ZERO inter-personal skills and those refugees testers from Motion? BH had them so badly gagged, it was like sending a boxer into the ring with BOTH hands tied behind their backs. The B-1 was at the top of my wish list but after the terrible behavior of the BH reps (secretive, easily offended and cried to mama when they couldn't take it), not only did the Bone get to the bottom of my list, it got tossed off the list. You accused Jon of being "scorned". I accuse you of being a Banana shill. (Some sticks have TWO dirty ends.) 🤔

Its amazing that in 2024 people think that a $679 should be perfect and that there should be over-the-top customer service. I've been out of the game for a while, but I've definitely spent that much just for servos on one wing for a big 3D airplane (3D even a thing anymore? hahah). My expectations for a PNP or ARF at that price point would be very low. Not to say that its okay to be low quality, but I haven't had anything that didn't need a little extra reinforcement or some sort of modification to be "right." Don't get me wrong, I think it is really cool that there are so many cool foamies now that you can just take out of the box and run. but these issues are the kind of thing that I would have just modded myself and not even flinched.
@TwoBrosRC25 күн бұрын
Yes it certainly is amazing that people expect to spend a lot of money and not be treated like an unpaid beta tester.
@Thatguyyoumettoday25 күн бұрын
@@TwoBrosRC but that’s my point, $679 is cheap in this hobby. I think I had nearly $3k in the last plane I had that size. This cheap Chinese stuff has gotten a lotttttttt better but it’s still RC on the cheap. I would expect nothing more. You have to set the bar where it belongs. It’s a cheap product with cheap product problems. And by cheap I mean that it is cheap for what it is. Surely you understand that.
@TwoBrosRC24 күн бұрын
Some aircraft being more expensive doesn't justify having less expensive aircraft be riddled with issues. We're talking about $500+ - and companies like Freewing can consistently deliver a well-designed product for a similar price point or even less. When you make excuses for companies to treat customers poorly, they'll continue doing it.

Sounds like it needed a little more time to cook, but otherwise they pulled off a capable aircraft. I’m surprised there wasn’t an impression of it being underpowered. At least on paper twin 70s sounds underwhelming for the B-1, but it looks fine on video
@TwoBrosRC7 ай бұрын
Definitely wasn't feeling underpowered. People tend to use dodgy battery brands like "HRB" or "Zeee" in twin 70mm applications which don't hold up to the load. SMC HVs are the only battery we recommend for jets like this.
