That's the problem. If he has ducked Barrera, Morales, Winky Wright, waited on delahoya, waited on Moseley a long time, Pacquiao, Margarito, now Povodnikov exc...what makes you think he would have fought Hearns, Hagler or Leonard. He is yellow.
@dannyprestwich224110 жыл бұрын
Well I'm old 61 and have been fed boxing since Patterson was t/Heavy champ. And I'm in total agreement as I came from WASH.DC so 1st Bob Foster and then S.R. LEONARD were my guys,I didn't say SRL was the best at even WW and certainly not at p4p.But he would walk down Floyd and KO him,I'd bet on it.Floyd was very good 8yrs' ago,but he always stayed a step or wt. class in front of the best FEATHERWEIGHT DIVISION in history (in my mind).I liked him and he was actually my favorite fighter for a while,but the loss to Castillo in t/1st fight (well in his defense,he was a one handed fighter) and the very close Oscar (past prime) DeLaHoya fight started my loss of belief.I still think Manny should've took the 40mill, so I have my doubts about him (well all fighters) and peds,as his power disappeared after those allegations.But yea Floyd went totally defense and with his hands and lack of power a man like MM just wasn't afraid of him,he didn't even look like he'd been 12 rounds.Look what JMM did in his last fight.He went to WW for money but I think he could be undisputed at 140.Getting off track,but so annoying to an old fan,I really believe the good days are gone!!!!!!!!
@EthanAnthony90710 жыл бұрын
Danny Prestwich Yup, the 80's and 90's were the end of the gritty tough boxing we grew up on. Now the blueprint is written and so many boxers want the mayweather easy way out. Could you imagine a Hagler refusing to fight a Hearns? Or Hearns dictating to Hagler, a 60-40 split, pull blood day of the fight too. What kind of pre-madonna cock suckers we have nowadays?

No era of Boxing, had a line up like that. But as mentioned, Ray had steep competition, and because there weren't as many divisions he often had to fight opponents who today would be in a completely different class. About 130 fights into his career he lost a 14 rounder to Joey Maxim. Ray was fighting at a weight which today would be Middleweight, against Maxim who was fighting at a weight which today would be Light Heavyweight. And Maxim is a Hall of Famer

@detroitplaya4sho... thats an interesting comment. But I think the game has changed and fighters of today are athletes which makes them marketable. I think the fighters today can do the 6 week interval thing definitely but business wise, it makes no sense.

Manny obviously still struggles with English as a second language, which is why he always comes off us unexpressive. I am not knocking him, as he has already achieved so much, coming from so little. But, I'm sure if we were able to hear and understand him in an interview in his own native language, he would be very articulate. You can tell that he has a lot he wants to say, but doesn't know how to say it.
@teeblue573510 жыл бұрын
No not really,manny is not articulate even in our language....his backgrfound is poor..and he did not grow up getting his mind sharpen academicaly,..he is to poor for that...but manny is a good humble man with a golden heart....he truly wants to give back to his people he left behind in his province..,he can feel the pain of not eatng for a day or 2 and watching his mother, younger brothers and sisters not eating as well, is what really pushed him to move far away from home, to make an honest money anyway he can...he did everything ,worked hard,and using his religion as his guide.....and earning a little money from boxing is his ultimate goal,his first boxing pay was less than $3.00 and this was less than 15yrs ago......he is just that good ,hard working and persistent.....thats why he got so good at boxing
