Basically the girl became bff with his little brother to get close with him, then chose to go to the same college, etc. He dumped her too, because he felt like the girl he fell in love with was a lie. My thoughts exactly. It happened with my parents too unfortunately. My dad has a big ego and he didn't like that my mom was focused on the children which is a normal thing to do, especially if they are young. He didn't help her with the chores so she didn't even have time for herself. And yet he had the audacity to be jealous of his own damn children that he so desperately wanted to have. I swear the reoccurring stories I hear about husband's cheating on their wife while they are pregnant or right after birth is just horrific. They do not care about their wife or child at all and only care about themselves. It's sad honestly. I wish there were less men like that and more caring partners.

Story 5 - How did Matt possibly believe K had a boyfriend when it was her 30th birthday but said boyfriend was not even there? Sister J must be a manipulative piece of work.

She told him. Yes. Matt broke up with Jay and Jay is angry with me but she just thinks that it was an innocent comment. Matt however wrote Kay a text explaining everything so now everyone knows "that way" (Kay and mom knew already but they acted like they only heard it from Matt) Still Jay is angry with me and has unfollowed me everywhere saying ruined her happiness. I texted her that if her relationship was real, it would have survived an innocent comment like the one made. Kay called me and she said that Matt has apologized and explained everything to her. She has "forgiven" him although she said there was nothing to forgive really since she truly believes that things weren't meant to be. They are staying friends however and they are very close friends. Jay called Kay a bitch and blocked her everywhere and wrote a nasty comment about her on INSTAGRAM that she was a man stealer then unfollowed her. My mom is very distraught now but think she will survive. will survive too and I still have no feelings of guilt about what I did. I am starting to think that really did do the right thing and am proud of myself for it. As Kay said, things that are meant to be happens.

LITTLE QUICK UPDATE FOR STORY 5. Its summarized, but if you want to read it its there At a dinner with everyone, op's mom teased kay how she was the only single one and op saw their opportunity. They made a comment like "yea so sad your boyfriend moved and proposed to another girl and posted that proposal on ig" and matt was confused how someone could do that, so annoyed, op said that kay have been single for the past 4 years. Dinner was quiet before jay and matt left. Kay and their mom was initialy upset and confused about what op did, but op explained to them what jay had done and they were shocked. Matt soon broke up with jay and went to apologize to kay and explained what happened. Matt and kay arent together but that didnt stop jay from getting angry at op and kay, calling kay a boyfriend stealer on ig and blocking everyone. Apparently this isnt the first time Jay have stole Kay's bf/crush(jay stole kays first bf. Which probably explains why kay is so shy around her crushes)

Sleep tech here, sounds like he may have REM behavior disorder, or he may have sleep apnea so severe he may be flailing his arms around, I’ve seen people flail their arms without remembering they even did so. He needs a sleep study to comfirm

As a wife who also deals with this. My husband was diagnosed with sleep Tourette’s. He sleep walks (very rarely), sometimes bas conversations with me he straight doesn’t remember, but every night I can guarantee you I am catching an hand, elbow, knee, foot somewhere on my body. His study showed every time be entered REM sleep, his body would think he was following and would “catch” himself. We have tried everything with no success. I just catch a black eye from time to time and we laugh about it in the morning.

Morgan, if you wake up choking and gasping, that’s most likely sleep apnea. It runs in my family so I’ve seen it a lot! It’s an easy fix but not a comfortable one as you will need a cpap machine if you have a severe enough case.

I once dated a guy who would literally beat on me in his sleep. I would wake up to him choking me, punching me, kicking me… it was impossible to sleep next to him for fear of being hit! After years of him living like this and losing partner after partner bc of it he finally went to the doctor. Turns out he was having seizures in his sleep. Not a typical seizure obviously. But seizures none the less. He’s medicated for it now and him and his wife can sleep peacefully.

He took the Meds and then went to bed, not even thinking about going to the ER at least😭

The brain tumor one is so heart wrenching. I think that the brain tumor does exonerate him from some of his actions. Of course he got worse when he was misdiagnosed and given treatment that was never going to work for his condition. Obviously we are all still responsible for our actions but knowing he was set up for failure changes things. I think it’s best that he focus on getting healthy for now, who’s to say the people he loves would even believe him with his history of lying due to his condition. At least after the surgery he’ll have scars to prove it. I’d love to see a happy ending in his future because everyone in this story deserves happiness.

AN UPDATE ON STORY #5 👀👀👀👀 Apparently this isn’t Jay’s first time doing this to this sister 🧐😒😒😒 (keep reading) So yesterday I did it. I know many here advised me to keep out of it but I chose to go with my guts. Honestly I have been very angry with Jay and basically I thought it was time that she learned the consequences of her actions. If her and Matt’s relationship is strong and real then nothing would come between them. If it isn’t, then I did the right thing. Most importantly I did right by Kay. I used the opportunity that I introduced my gf to my family yesterday. Mom teased Kay about being “the only one left”. I asked loudly I can’t believe that it had been 4 years since Kay had a bf. Since her ex went home and pandemic hit so he couldn’t fly back so he announced his engagement to another woman on fb and that’s how Kay knew it was over between them. Jay was very nervous and wanted to change the subject but Matt was shocked over how someone would do this to their gf. I don’t think he really did the math at first and he didn’t react. I was annoyed tbh. So I insisted, “Yeah when she introduced you at her 30th party I really thought she had a crush on you because she never shut up about you but a few months later you and Jay got together”. I said that it was confusing and surely not only for me but the rest of the family but then again Jay has done this before and stole Kay’s first bf. This was followed by the loudest silence. I knew I went too far this time but I couldn’t control my anger towards Jay and I wasn’t going to sit there and hope Matt would connect the dots himself. Everyone was very silent and Jay was looking daggers at me. Matt didn’t say anything and Kay was angry too and said that it was long time ago. Matt and Jay left shortly afterwards and Kay asked me why I would embarrass her. I told her that Jay had lied to Matt about her having a bf at her birthday party two years ago and that’s why Matt ghosted her because he thought she (Kay) was playing him. Kay was shocked so she didn’t know as I expected. Mom was shocked too. This morning Kay called. She wanted to know more. She told me that she was very heartbroken for the longest time and confused to why Matt ghosted her but now she knows at least even though she had hoped that he liked her a bit more to talk to her before ghosting her. I said that I believe she deserved better than him and she laughed and agreed. Now I know that I have made the right decision at least by my sister which is the most important thing to me right now. Haven’t heard from Matt or Jay so I don’t know if they’ll stay together or not. All I know was that they were supposed to be on a weekend mini trip to see a venue on the coast and this trip was canceled because Jay usually shares on her stories and they haven’t left town this weekend. I feel saddened of course but not sure if I feel guilty. Maybe it will hit me later. I don’t know.

OP added one more comment in the comments: Yes. Matt broke up with Jay and Jay is angry with me but she just thinks that it was an innocent comment. Matt however wrote Kay a text explaining everything so now everyone knows “that way” (Kay and mom knew already but they acted like they only heard it from Matt) Still Jay is angry with me and has unfollowed me everywhere saying I ruined her happiness. I texted her that if her relationship was real, it would have survived an innocent comment like the one I made. Kay called me and she said that Matt has apologized and explained everything to her. She has “forgiven” him although she said there was nothing to forgive really since she truly believes that things weren’t meant to be. They are staying friends however and they are very close friends. Jay called Kay a bitch and blocked her everywhere and wrote a nasty comment about her on INSTAGRAM that she was a man stealer then unfollowed her. My mom is very distraught now but I think she will survive. I will survive too and I still have no feelings of guilt about what I did. I am starting to think that I really did do the right thing and I am proud of myself for it. As Kay said , things that are meant to be happens.

Random side note for Morgan about tonsil removal. I got mine out at 21. I had recurrent infections and it turns out my tonsils were BAD. They started to grow into my neck muscle instead of into my throat and during surgery the one had an abscess and “exploded” quote from the surgeon. Basically it was a bad situation and I should have had them removed in childhood. The recovery was TERRIBLE. I couldn’t eat right for well over a month. Water came out of my nose when I drank for a year bc of the swelling and I had to learn to swallow right again due to the neck muscle trauma. I also felt like talking was a bit of a challenge at a times again due to the neck muscle trauma. I say all of this to let you know tonsil removal at an older age (not childhood) is ROUGH, but so worth it. I haven’t had any issues since about a year post op once I was fully recovered (currently 25). If you do get it done just be prepared for a long hard recovery.

I got mine removed exactly a year ago, for the same reason: recurrent infections. I was 29 when I got the surgery. According to the ENT, my tonsils fell apart from how bad of a shape they were & had lots of food particles (which in hindsight, made sense since I occasionally felt like something was stuck in my throat after eating). The recovery was bad but not too bad compared to the infections.

I had almost the same thing except mine hadn’t grown into my muscles. They were the size of golf balls and one was almost rotting. Reoccurring infections and constant sleep interruptions made me go see an ENT. 12 stitches later and recovery was horrible I couldn’t talk for 2 weeks and could barely drink water. for the Kay & Jay story: Let’s think a bit more long term about this. Let’s say Jay and Matt get married. A year or two or more go by, and at a family event, Matt and Kay are casually chatting when Matt offhandedly brings up Kay having been in a relationship back when they first met. Kay, confused, corrects him, telling him she hadn’t been seeing anyone. Matt says that Jay told him she’d had a boyfriend back then, and how she must’ve been mistaken. Kay is even more confused and says something like, “But she knew I was single and who I was crushing on…” And it clicks for them what happened, completely independent of anyone else’s meddling. This is a secret that could be easily blown wide open if _anyone_ mentions to Matt that Kay was single, or mentions to Kay that Matt thought she was single. This isn’t some airtight, foolproof plan. I predict it _will_ come to light eventually. (Edit: saw the update that OP told Matt & Kay and Matt broke up with Jay) And when it does, will it also come out that OP knew, and kept it a secret? For me, the question isn’t, “Are you willing to stir up drama?” It’s, “Are you willing to risk Kay putting you on the chopping block alongside Jay if she ever finds out that you two lied in order to protect Jay’s happiness and relationship without giving a rat’s ass about Kay’s happiness and feelings?”

Story 1: as someone who has chronic sleep disorders, specifically related to REM, the first story hits home. I’ve been an insomniac since I was born. I have sleep paralysis and can even lucid dream. I also have chronic fatigue syndrome and ADHD which makes everything worse. I’m a sleep catastrophe. I’ve also had a really bad chronic strep case when I was a teenager that lead to an autoimmune disease and becoming immune to antibiotics for strep. It got so bad, my tonsils were obstructing airways and I was sent to the ER twice in 3 weeks to get an epinephrine shot. I had my tonsils finally removed after a lot of fighting with doctors and insurance. Before this, my parents sent me to a sleep study. Turns out I was only entering REM sleep for 4 minutes. We don’t know why I didn’t stay long REM sleep but one possible cause was because I was choking on my tonsils every time my muscles would relax in REM. Now I don’t think this is the only cause because I still struggle with sleep. PLEASE go get checked out if you have ANY sleep disturbances. Things like sleep apnea or tonsils obstructing airways can lead to death. Sleep hygiene is so important and not getting enough sleep can seriously impact or end your life.

Story 1. I wonder if the partner might need a CPAP. My partner was a WILD sleeper before we found out he would stop breathing 90 times in an hour. He'd jump in his sleep, hit in his sleep, etc. Once we got his cpap for him he stopped hitting in his sleep, and started being much more rested. The guy with the tumour has to tell his ex wife. You guys were talking about how much trauma she probably has from the situation & it’s not as if trauma disappears once the person is out of your life!? Imagine how it’s affecting her relationships now?! She could be constantly worried about future partners suddenly changing, using drugs behind her back, lying. Who knows how it has tainted her relationships going forward. She could think her husband faked a personality for years and then one day snapped or was lying the whole time but couldn’t hide it anymore. She could blame herself. Yes he shouldn’t have expectations & knowing it was tumour won’t fix everything, but I imagine it could heal a lot. Being lied to at that extent by your spouse could traumatize you for life, especially because it was a sudden change. Imaging being able to know that it wasn’t you or them, it was a tumour.

Girl! Get those tonsils OUT. I had mine taken out at 29. For years, they kept enlarging with every season and then I got strep throat and I had enough. I shopped around until I found a really good doctor who took them out. The recovery wasn't ideal (about three weeks) but the best decision when you have a history of tonsil swelling, difficulty swallowing etc. I've been sick way less since I had them removed.

I’d confront little sister telling her I know the truth and telling her that she needs to be honest with Matt before the wedding so he can know the truth, or else I’d tell him . Telling older sister will only break her heart. Story 1: My husband also does this, and it gets better. We absolutely do separate blankets and bought the biggest bed we could find. I also sleep with a pregnancy pillow between us and snuggle right up until he goes to sleep. One thing we noticed over the years (we’ve been married for 16 years) is that he gets “active” in his sleep when he’s had bad or inconsistent sleep for the few days before. It happened once last year when we had our newborn and he punched the headboard in his sleep because in his dream he thought someone was trying to steal our son. 😅 So we took precautions and had him sleep downstairs for a few days until he could “catch up on sleep” and then come back to our bed after a few days. To those asking: we did a sleep study years ago where they decided to put him on really heavy medication, with some serious side effects. Since the last 6 years (and with doctors support) he’s weaned himself off almost all of it and supplements with things like echinacea, melatonin, no eating before bed, meditation, etc. It’s 98% manageable and the other 2% can be avoided with situational awareness. Hope this helps!

Story 5: You absolutely have to tell Matt. And the reason is that the backlash is going to be ten times worse when he finds out. What if he finds out when they already have kids and he’s so mad he leaves? The moral reason is he has a right to choose. The practical reason is that the potential backlash always gets bigger than the one you’d have today. What if the blowup happens after they have kids? What if they find out and the sister and matt have an affair? What if someone reacts so hard they hurt or kill someone? It’s so impractical to risk marriage on this foundation when there could be children- those kids will resent that you kept it to yourself… 😢
