all jokes aside, I really love how much Brett and Eddy talk about how much dedication to playing an instrument can really pay off. Brett's comment about how you don't realize how good you actually play after 10 years is so true! I think that's one of the great joys of playing an instrument - it really is such a long game but being able to look back after years and years of work and finally see (and hear!) progress in your playing is so special and it's why I continue to play after so long :)

Love the conclusion of the video. It's easy to think Twoset brings us anxiety, frustration about being a musician, but in fact, they only teach us how to appreciate it despite the pain and the difficulties. Yes we will cry, yes we will work so much hard but in the end, we will all become good musicians because there is not secret. There is no "musical borned geniuses" and no "30 day secret program", there is only practice and determination. So keep practicing guys, we can make it!

Theoretically you can be trained to play something on a violin in a month if you have *_in combination:_* 1) Perfect pitch, to hear music in the most precise way; 2) Eidetic memory, to always remember what you've learned; 3) Ideal kinesthetic memory, to lessen amount of mistakes in motions; 4) An idiot teacher, who will "train" such a budding genius instead of genuinely teaching them. But that will only turn you into a "playing apparatus", not a musician.

Started teaching myself piano in August of last year. I haven't learned any new pieces other than the 3 I started with, can't play those completely all the way through. However, my technique has improved, my finger strength, hand independence, and overall comfort with the instrument has come a long way. So yeah, maybe nobody is going to be impressed by Moonlight Sonata's 1st mvt, or Fur Elise, but I'm having a great time practicing and hearing the small little improvements I make each day. Screw the "git gud fast" schemes.

Nice! Keep the spirit! Regardless of the piece, to play beautifully, with musicality and emotions is difficult. @greyalice
@greyalice 4 жыл бұрын
@@miwashumie It's not, honestly. It does require a lot of patience and discipline. You have to make yourself do it, even though it's gonna be frustrating and you won't notice improvements for a while. I slog through warmups like scales and arpeggios, chord progressions. Then I practice the pieces I'm working on. Some days I work on sight reading pieces I haven't played. Some days I ear train by trying to play a very basic Melody from a song I know. And every time I practice, I do a lot of improv. This helps me work on syncopation and technique, because I want to improve so I can play these ideas floating around in my head. I'll also improv on the motif of pieces that I play. Once you accept that you won't be a virtuoso anytime soon, you can really begin to appreciate and enjoy the immense depth and complexity the instrument as well as classical music holds.

I just started taking (viola) lessons again after 12 years, and you can actually accomplish a lot in 30 days when you actually invest in a teacher, set realistic goals, and put in consistent practice (not even a lot - I can only fit in 30 mins after work each day). It's been officially one month since I started, and I actually left my lesson smiling (never happened as a teenager) because I could feel the improvement and the results of my work. Now that I'm just doing it for myself (no auditions, recitals, parent expectations), it actually does boost my self-esteem to have something to work towards and to be able to achieve what I set out to do!

For the people that would really love to learn cello or viola (kidding) but they are 'too old' and think they have no chance to ever be good at it because they didn't start from a young age: I've played the cello for one year from my 8th till 9th and due to sickness had to stop. I picked it up again when I was about 20. I am now trying towards being a soloist and am working hard to try to get into a conservatorium. I've only picked it up again two years ago and even though I'm not a soloist, I am playing in an orchestra and play pieces of Bach and so on. I'm not trying to suck my own balls and do as if I'm oh so good, I'm only saying this for the people that feel like they could never learn a string instrument when they are older then, I don't know, like 17. I want to tell those people that they should go for it! It won't be easy, I'm practising more than 2 to 3 hours a day. You have to work harder to get on the same level as your fellow orchestra players, but if you really want to, whatever age you are, just go for it. My teacher has a student that is 56 and she started a year ago. That's just so powerful that she just decided to play!

I met a lady who started when she was 40 y.o. as a hobby and she played small solo concerts in her 50s. Music making is about connecting with people and give them something that is actually non tangible. I busk a lot and you still have an audience and you still connect to people and you still make them happy. Coming across good classical music in a place you didn't expect has often a bigger impact. I am a singer and like you had to pause due to illness, so I am much older than others. Many have already given up when they get to my age. They are frustrated and I have still plans for the future. 😊 Keep playing.

Thank you for that, I am almost 19 now and dream of learning the violin. I can't start learning until I get in college, which will probably be next year, so I am really looking forward to starting, but I wasn't sure if I would be able to actually learn it. Your story was really inspiring, thank you!

Isabella F Ahw thank you for your sweet comment! Just go for it! Like I said, although I did had a few year lessons when I was around 8, I did stop for a while. I started again at 20. Now I’m working towards being a solist and I feel like I am close to being one. If you really want to learn it, and put in the work, you can get there! I’m really glad that I could help you a little. Good luck! ♥️🌹

Thank you, a lot of us need to hear that actually. We often hear about people that started to have parents pushing them and being able to afford expensive music lessons and you can easily feel jealous and too old for it. But it's only a matter of dedication and interest to learn anything.

Here's my proposal for you guys: Purchase a visa gift card for the amount they want, and use that to get this program. I feel like by doing that you can properly expose scams like this. And I just *need* to know exactly what kind of bullshit they are selling people. You may have to still be careful with the device you use to make the purchase with, but I don't know enough about computers to tell what you're at risk for. I would say at the very least use a VPN, but that won't protect you if you have to download the program and they send you a virus instead.

I’m a classical vocalist, I am the instrument. If learning to sing was dull and boring I would probably just be mute. I think learning techniques by making mistakes, creating weird and hilarious sounds, having a laugh and building confidence regardless of what instrument you play is most definitely not dull and boring.

The last part really warmed my heart ☺️ I stopped playing the piano after 10 years of practice because I felt like everything I practiced for looked like trash, it was never good enough, and I couldn’t stand the process because I felt like a failure for not being able to play the pieces perfectly from the start. I loved my piano but the long sessions of tears I had to get through every time was just not worth the pleasure I could get in the end.

To people who want to learn violin but are worried about the commitment, know that you don't HAVE to practice 40 hours a day to get good. That's for people who want to be professionals. If it is just a hobby, 30 minutes a day is enough to make really good progress and have a lot of fun. Don't get scared away thinking that you have to as committed as Brett and Eddy are!

I suppose it would be possible to learn violin in 30 days, providing you don't eat, sleep, drink, or go to the toilet, but just played non stop for 30 days. You wouldn't be in too great a shape physically but you might be able to play twinkle twinkle little star perfectly by the end of it.
