Admittedly not a tech new gizmo guy. Had same type of putter for yrs. This thing is crazy stable & square thru impact. It’s the most on line I’ve rolled putts EVER. TaylorMade really has something here

Tried out putters for a couple hours at PGA Superstore. They had 200 putters in stock available for demo on their large indoor putting area. This particular putter was the standout for accuracy at all distances. Then i checked the sticker price - I should’a known - it was the most expensive putter in the mix of putters that stood out in my hands.

Trimming it down would decrease the effect of the sliding weight which would effectively render it useless. I agree though, kind of a beast.

VERY interesting putter by TM. One would hope when playing 18 holes and things are not always going, hence miss iron shots and drives, keeping your putting technique in check so that strokes are gained on the putting green. Never the less, very informative video.

Probably not. You won't be moving the CG much, if any with that which would minimize the effect. It might be good on those off center hits, by putting the weight behind it to keep the distance on a putt when mishit.

@stdr04
@stdr04 Жыл бұрын
I used to do this with my Odyssey Tank 7. You could put a heavy weight in the toe and no weight in heel. This would encourage more of an arc stroke.
@romansantos2241
@romansantos2241 Жыл бұрын
Wouldn’t that do the opposite? Like, if you put more weight in the toe, wouldn’t that slow the rate of closure down?
@michaelgillies9075

@@romansantos2241 more weight in the toe area helps with closing the face at impact more and is suitable for pushers of the ball
@romansantos2241
@romansantos2241 Жыл бұрын
@@michaelgillies9075 ok got it. Thanks for the clarification. I guess rate of closure works differently for putters…I know for sure with with weight adjustable drivers that adding weight to the toe slows the rate of closure down. Cheers.
@willadair6178
@willadair6178 Жыл бұрын
@@michaelgillies9075That’s incorrect. TXG has proven otherwise. Weight in the toe slows down rate of closure, which is why it’s better for players with an arc. Players with an arc close the face faster, thus needing toe hang to slow it down for consistent impact angle.
@michaelgillies9075
@michaelgillies9075 Жыл бұрын
@@willadair6178 so are you saying that TaylorMade do not know what they are talking about,what I said is in reference to how they describe the moveable weights in the putter,the weights moved all the way to the front helps with closing the face faster and helps with pushers of the ball and vice versa with the weight in the back,so unless you actually work for TaylorMade I’d suggest u pipe down and 🤫

Did he hit the last 3 putts with the weight in the toe at the front and the weight in the heel at the back? If so , I would have thought his face would have not rotated as much and the ball would have been in the right side of the hole instead of the left.

I wish I could use a mallet. I've tried TONS of them over the years, most recently a LAB Mezz. I just make more putts with Newport/NP2 shape. Although I did put the Mezz grip on my Champion's Choice Newport 2 and love it so it wasn't a total loss.

I like the tech, but the quality of the build with paint and cheap metal with an insert face is not to my liking. Maybe I"m a putter snob, but I just can't stomach using a face insert putter. I prefer fully milled. Have a Toulon and PXG with similar shape and they are fantastic. Probably would own one of these also if the face and head were a fully milled block of metal like the Toulon. They look nice though.

I really like the tech idea behind this. Like ST-G weight tracks in a putter. It would be good to see a test looking at the impact of a consistent miss out of the heel Vs toe, with different weight settings and compared to a previous version without to see the benefits on forgiveness.

Interesting. How many times does a person put a putter away and grab a different one to "teach it a lesson" during a spell of poor putting performance? Putting styles for a person evolve I think and this would allow some evolution instead of constantly buying a slightly different putter to fit a new stroke etc

I’m split, Firstly I love the innovation and tbh I’ve been doing this with lead tape on my scotty to change the toe hang. Mainly just because I love the scotty firm. But, I can’t help but feel. A players skill level is being diminished with the shear level of aids in clubs vs practising and level to hit the centre of the club. Or am I just getting the wrong end of the stick and Taylormade are just making a putter to fit all types. Instead of 12 different models.
