Wow, did not expect that result. The 100k give away is hands down the ultimate golfing prize. Best I've EVER heard of. Way better than any manufacturer give away because with the fitting the winner gets the best clubs for them, not the best clubs from a limited range.

The best part of the Tour Edge is that you can get it in 16.5 degrees. That is basically a 4 wood. I love mine. So easy to hit and that is coming from someone who struggled for years trying to hit fairway woods. I actually find myself hitting it off the tee on certain holes and I never would do that before. I had major trust issues with fairway woods before this club. I'm a 8 HCP by the way.

Interesting, but not surprising, outcome given previous testing of the TE Exotics. Lack of an adjustable sleeve would mean a (good) fitting would be needed to ensure it delivered on the 'promise' though. Am very interested in how a slower swing speed might change the outcome of all the bracket face-offs and the ultimate winner. Could you do a bracket with the inimitable Ronnie?

The EXS looks like a great solution for someone with a strong fade or slice bias. More upright lie, and a much more pronounced draw shape to the ball flight (with Matt hitting it.) And it actually seemed more consistent with that draw flight too. Love this content!

BloodySoup74 I thought I read Wilson’s ownership group was trying to get more aggressive in golf. He wasn’t under contract for the driver and fairway from my understanding unless he got something he felt comfortable with. I didn’t see any drop off from what I could tell although he lost some weight too so different body making the swing. Their Staff line of irons have typically been reviewed well since the FG Tour. Streelman took second using Wilson a couple weeks ago at the Travelers and Brendan Steele has had some decent showings too. Will be interesting since Woodland had some awesome fairway wood shots during his US Open win.
@BloodySoup744 жыл бұрын
@@brentninedorf6617 Dont get me wrong I do like Wilson's new line of golf equipment. Love their FG irons. Its just money to these tour players. Those guys are so good that they should be able to play with anything. I switched from my 10 year old mizunos to new mizunos 2 years ago and now it feels like I added 5 strokes to my game.
@stowehouses4 жыл бұрын
Wait a second. Is the standard deviation result due to the EXS performing more similarly off the tee and off the deck? So it looked more like one homogeneous data set rather than two merged data sets (as with the Ping)? For measuring standard deviation I would think you would need to examine them without merging the tee balls and fairway shots.
@clubchampionmedia4 жыл бұрын
yes, but it essentially means that the EXS performed the same even when the strike location moved up a bit (as a result of being on a tee). As we mentioned that may not be for everyone, but it's a great potential feature in terms of consistency and distance control. Also have to remember this is mostly for fun and to show everyone how all these different fairways perform, picking winners just adds a bit of entertainment
@jgeary84734 жыл бұрын
I've had success with TE Exotics fairway for 4 yrs, starting with the EX10, then the EX10 Beta (Ti). I've always cut the stock shaft and put in a GD AD F 65 in the fairways, Forgiving, long, good height. Went to the EXS 220 in the 16.5 this year, changed out stock shaft and it's easier to hit straight than the EX10 Beta. Now trying to consider whether to keep the EX10 Beta 5 wd or go to EXS 220. As to Ping, I just haven't found it longer or more consistent in a G400 when I pitted it against the EX10 Beta.
@mvansb234 жыл бұрын
No EXS pro for lefties, but would love to see Ian test that series if you can get your hands on them. Seems like the regular EXS series is a bit high spin for us guys that need to take some off.
@dougmael4 жыл бұрын
I have both the EXS 220 and EXS Pro fairways (and an EXS Pro driver), and there is a rather dramatic difference in spin, and overall performance, between the two lines (I'm a Tour Edge Exotics Fitter/Dealer, so I get to try all of their clubs and all shaft options, plus I have some other aftermarket shafts in Exotics adapters to hit in the EXS 220 and EXS Pro drivers). The EXS Pro driver and fairway are definitely both low-spin beasts in the right hands. For my rather meager 95-97 MPH clubhead speed, particularly when compared to Matt and Ian, I am seeing about 400 - 500 RPM lower spin with the EXS Pro driver and 350 - 400 RPM lower spin with the EXS pro 3-wood with my swing. I hit my driver with an approximately 2* to 4* upward angle on decent swings, and am flat to about 1.5* up with my 3-wood, so I'm not a super high-spin guy, but I find the spin numbers with the EXS Pro driver and fairway to be slightly preferable. The only time that I appreciate the added spin from the shallower-faced EXS 220 3-wood is when I hit it off the deck (a little extra spin is always appreciated when hitting downwind, but it's extremely rare to find a golf course where you are hitting downwind on all holes).

I think Matt hit the E3wood longer and better with stock shaft on previous video which shows that putting your 'personal ' shaft on any club head out there does not mean its better than stock in this case. A particular shaft will give you different feel with different heads. Just my opinion. On your Tour Edge video posted June 12th, Matt was carrying it 305 with 325 total.

Question: does combining the Tee and Off-the-Deck data punish clubs that perform differently in those scenarios (like the G410 LST) because they will have wider standard deviations? Shouldn't the categories be looked at separately and see what the standard deviation is off the deck, then separately what it is off a tee? Seems that a club shouldn't be "punished" in standard deviation because it separates itself off the tee vs deck. It could very well have a tight standard deviation in both but they produce different enough numbers that the overall SD is higher. Just a thought... love all your guys' work!

There's still plenty of Tour Edge Exotics hybrids (fairway metals and a few drivers, too) in the bags of guys on the Champions Tour, and as recently as last year a few were in the bags of guys on the PGA tour. Scott McCarron won last year's Charles Schwab Cup playing TE Exotics, and Tom Lehman won the first event of the 2020 Season with Exotics EXS 220 driver, fairway, and hybrid in his bag. Recently, several of the guys on the Champions Tour have put the EXS Pro driver and fairway in play. I'm not sure if he's still gaming it, but Ryan Palmer also had an Exotics CBX 119 hybrid in his bag out on the PGA Tour in 2019.

It's really a shame that the Exotics EXS Pro FW is not available in a left-handed model! At least off the tee, I believe that the EXS Pro would have excelled. I own both the EXS 220 and EXS Pro hi-launch 3 woods (at 16.5* loft, I consider them to be 4-woods), and my choice regarding which one goes in my bag on any given day is dependent solely on what course I will be playing, and from what set of tees. If I expect to be hitting the fairway wood from the tee that day, it's the deeper-faced, lower-spinning EXS Pro; however, if I will be playing a course where I will be hitting fairway wood off the deck (meaning a course with longish par-5 holes), it's the EXS 220 fairway that day.

Ping has their 410 series on sale right now so prices are similar, but when they were full price the EXS was about $75-100 less depending on where you live
@wallstreetoneil4 жыл бұрын
For me, this wasn't even close if you watched the flights and looked at the Standard Deviations - the EXS_220 just flew the same every time - that's what you look for in a gamer and why once you find a 3 wood that you know what it's going to do, you never change it. Matty could start that left edge on every shot and it would draw into the target every time from 110 feet and 3500 spin - that is basically a perfect 3 wood. The Pro version, with the swappable (L/R) weights, would give you a straight ball - but I don't think straight flights are the best gamers.
