Great video. I think each sleeve has its pluses and minuses but your comment at the end about which golfer needs face angle vs lie angle sums it best. I have a new Mizuno ST 230 Max and I like the sleeve (similar to TaylorMade) but I play a shorter length and prefer flatter lie angles and more neutral to open faces. The one big plus about Callaway, is that you can keep your grip oriented the same no matter the adjustment.

Thanks for the great info! I play a g430 9* lst as a lefty. I came across a video on ping sleeves when trying to dial back a fade. I flattened my lie, added back some loft, and moved the weight to neutral (from draw) and I’m hitting them straight and 20-30 yards further with an occasional bias towards a fade. Centering the weight as opposed to assuming the draw setting would neutralize the fade exposed some weird gear effect and neutralizing the CG made a big difference. Love this technical type of content!

Play Cobra currently and assume it's a single axis. Want the tweak ability of that double axis. very cool. I hit a draw 99% of the time with a decidedly flat swing and need to flatten the face while leaving the loft the same and didn't even realize this was possible. Very cool. Titleist here we come...

is it true that for every degree of loft on a single axis sleeve, you can expect a corresponding 1.8* change of face angle? 1 Degree lower Loft = 1.8 degree open and vice versa for the other direction.

@guywhittern28002 ай бұрын
That is correct if the club is grounded. The assumption from the manufacturers is that the player will grip the club and square it up off the ground. So when you drop loft, the face angle opens, and then the reduction in loft is achieved by the player then ‘shutting’ the face to square it up. You could argue it’s all a bit of a con. Unless you hover the club and square it up in your hands, you never actually change the loft.

They typically refer to this as a retrofit. Ian has talked about this service during their Monday Live shows a number of times. They did a video back on April 18th for their Follower Fittings called How to Get the Most Out of Your Current Clubs. It was focused on irons, but they did a retrofit of the golfer's existing irons and ended up adjusting his lofts and lie angles. It'll give you a good idea of what the process is like. @GeelongDevil2 ай бұрын
Why don’t you just adjust the club in your hands so the face is neutral? At the end of the day, that’s what actually delivers the lower loft. If you’re addressing the ball with an open face and hitting cuts, you’re not actually changing the loft.
@andrewhay80332 ай бұрын

@GeelongDevil2 ай бұрын
@@andrewhay8033I’m afraid you have a fundamental misunderstanding about how loft sleeves work. The loft is changed when you square the face. The face angle only changes if you let the club rest on the ground and let it fall into its natural position. This is because changing the loft sleeve changes the angle in which the shaft fits into the head. This changes the relationship between the balance point of the club and the position on the sole of the club that is in contact with the ground.
@andrewhay80332 ай бұрын
@@GeelongDevil all I know is when you change the loft on the driver it sits different when you put it behind the ball. It opens the face to lower the loft and shuts face to increase loft. If it didn't do this then manufacturers would surely just make 1 or 2 lofts. Like an 8 degree driver head and a 10. Then you could just adjust them up or down and get your required loft. I heard Rory McIlroy saying once about how he loves a driver just sitting square at the ball so one time when he was just changing the loft he changes head rather than change it on the loft sleeve because it won't sit right to his eye. Same as what I'm saying

I have a Ping fitted by your facility that was 9 deg head. Struggled to get it in the air, so I started moving the hosel adjust around. I tend to hook it, so I went into the flatter settings to increase loft to 10 deg but hated it, I'm currently into the 10.5 deg on the normal lie angle side with no real benefit noticed. For me, I think the head has to be fit to hopefully work in the neutral setting and once you start getting into that hosel adjustment, you're likely going to be unhappy. It doesn't sit on the ground properly anymore. In the neutral setting, I sit the club behind the ball and its nice and flat with the face pointing at the target. In any of the other settings, the head points off line and you have to physically hold the driver face to point at the target which is inconsistent and difficult to replicate. I cant get it to work, so am looking for another driver.
