Hey hey! So, my daughters car starter died. Of course, I decided to see If I could attack it myself instead of dealing with tows, phone calls, mechanics, bills etc. I used your video as inspiration to attack it myself, and boom. Done. Was it fun? No. Was it fast and easy? No. Did I get it done in under two hours, get her back on the road, save money, and flex to the auto gods? Yes. Yes I did. Thanks for the video my man. Taking the time to do it is the reason I was able to get this job done, and I greatly appreciate it/you.

Just replaced mine 2 days ago... I tinkered around for 3 days with the car jacked up on stands and could not reach the starter whatsoever! Had a revelation on the last day... set the car back on the ground, removed the air filter and airflow line, and removed both bolts with a side rachet wrench (14mm), pulled it out and boom!

It may be inconveniently placed, but it really isn't all that bad. Remove the air intake hose to get to the top bolt, the rest is easily accessible from the bottom of you explore different angles of approach. Took a half hour to remove and the same or less to install the new one. I'd recommend doing it yourself to save money.

came here cuz i havent driven my Kia for a year and my starter failed so looks like i may need to replace it but i was wondering what prices i should expect if i have to replace it.. i thought i could give it a tap or quick fix. :( ughhhh good video tho

I appreciate you watching my video. Maybe a neighbor or family member could help you with the replacement. I feel your pain. This was my nephew's car and we were out camping when it acted up. We had to crawl under the car and tap it like crazy before it would start.

That top bolt is not budging. How easy was it for you to get it loose?
@projectfixit4 жыл бұрын
It was not an issue for me. No rust around here either. Make sure you are loosening it the correct direction. LOL

The bottom one took about 10 seconds but the top one was not turning and when I started to strip the bolt with my wrench, I just got some help from a local shop that used an impact tool. 👍🏼 starts really great now. Thanks for the video

Would you say 2007 Kia spectra is a good car to buy in 2022? Looking to get my first car for college. Thanks!!

I cannot comment from long term experience as this vehicle was not mine, but a family member's. However, the gas mileage was good, it had a decent amount of miles on it and seemed to be fairly friendly when it boils down to the items needing maintained. It seems economically built and the parts, when needed, were decently priced. If you find one for the good price, It's probably worth the buy. Make sure you have a mechanic give it a good look over. It's a sellers market (Aug 2022) and there is a lot of junk out there marked with premium prices.

Would an extra-long extension reach from the wheelwell to the starter bolts? Or is there too much peripheral equipment in the way?
@projectfixit3 жыл бұрын
There is too much stuff in the way from passenger side wheel well. You can access from the top or the bottom. Accessing from the top was not too bad.

I have the same car and I replaced the radiator cap, but I don't know the cap number. Can you tell me how much is the cap number you have in this car and I thank you

Unfortunately the car is no longer accessible to me. Maybe someone reading this string can pipe in.
